Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Big waves and sustaining Brew for Toostressy

No school on Wed pms here - so had better go and crack the hwk whip - [sigh]

PurpleDaisies · 22/02/2017 15:36

I am thrilled to say I got the job! The interview was actually a really nice process and I had decided I would accept it if they offered it to me. They're doing all the admin stuff and then I can start so it's a mega push to get the house sorted before then. That's definitely not today though. I'm sitting on the sofa and drinking tea to celebrate.

Cagliostro · 22/02/2017 15:53

Omg yay!!! Congratulations 😊⭐️

Sweepingchange · 22/02/2017 16:03

foxessocks · 22/02/2017 16:41

Well done purple great news!

Ta das
Dh has hoovered whole house hooray!
Daily routine finished
Taken all DDs toys upstairs (not put tidily away yet but that's a job for another day!)
Have decluttered bottom of wardrobe in bedroom (found a bag for the charity shop I'd forgotten all about)
Tidied top shelf in wardrobe in bedroom

To do
Ironing
Make some sandwiches etc for a picnic tea tonight

Right. Going to do 20 minutes ironing I think. Feeling a bit more energetic now but my throat still really hurts. I've been eating strepsils all day but not sure that they're actually doing anything.

mermaidsandunicorns · 22/02/2017 20:52

Well done purple StarStar

Hi all, long day at work so just posting links for tomorrow now then will do personals before bed. Here is the daily summary for Thursday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 4 this week: the master bedroom and en-suite if applicable

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 4 is here

Spend 15 mins (or what you can manage) decluttering in Zone 4.

The mission for today is: today let's clean off the bed side tables. Get all the tissues, trash, books, and cups off of these and put them where they belong. I have spilled many glasses of water because I did not take my cup to the kitchen in the morning! You will love the feeling when you go to bed this evening, and wake up without all that clutter in your face!

The daily focus for Thursday is: errand day

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders:
reminders

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Baby-step no 23 - afternoon/get home from work routine I find this really useful actually and have them set up on my home routines app (that's not to say I always manage to get them done!)

Flykids challenge: Today it is time to dust! Go ask a parent for a feather duster or whatever they like you to use to dust with and dust your dresser, nightstands and desks. Dusting is a lot like petting a cat or dog. You just pet the furniture with a feather duster or dust rag. Move from side to side and from front to back.
I am so proud of all of you for taking such good care of your rooms!

Happy flying!

Cagliostro · 23/02/2017 00:03

Aw happy birthday ministressy Cake

Today went pretty well, ending in the Nutcracker which was absolutely epic. Caglets entranced throughout and I may have shed a tear or two at the pas de deux it was so beautiful.

Home ed field trip tomorrow... on the trams with friends going to IKEA 😂

BluePheasant · 23/02/2017 00:11

Brilliant Purple, well done! Wine

My momentum failed a bit today as pretty tired from work. But I'm keeping up my new habits and also drilling them into DH as well Grin Mornings I'm ensuring that all dishes are done and the table is cleared before I leave (I'm last to leave house on my work days so I do this).
I've already started doing babystep 23 above with the get from work routine so am ahead of the game, woo hoo! Wink. Changes I've made recently is while one of us is getting dinner ready, the other is doing tomorrow's lunches. Then when we've eaten, the kitchen can be cleared fully and not be messed up again at about 9pm when we remember we need to make the packed lunches! Similarly after dinner, while one of us is doing bath time the other does dishes. Told DH when he does dishes it includes cleaning sink and wiping surfaces, don't know what he does but he seems to get water everywhere when he washes up! I think he thinks I've gone a bit mental atm obsessing about how things are done but I'm trying to get him into the habit of wiping everything down like I do. Bit of husband training never hurt anyone Wink He always does his fair share of the chores but has the habit of leaving things until the end of the evening rather than just getting it done. Am hoping it will eventually become habit that everything is done earlier so we can actually wind down before bed without things still left to do.

Sorted one cosmetics bag this evening and threw out quite a few lipsticks and eye shadows, feels so wasteful but they will never get used, all colours that when I tried them they didn't really suit me and never got used again.

Bit more decluttering done in the kitchen, is such slow progress! Last cupboard top is the worst one as seems to have become one of DHs dumping grounds so he will be helping me sort that out tomorrow!

Hope your DD has a fab birthday TooStressy My DD is 4 this summer, growing up so fast! What is she getting? DD had a bike for christmas which was quite pricey so Birthday this year will just be small bits as the bike was Xmas and birthday combined really.

Right should be getting to sleep, night all!

Afreshstartplease · 23/02/2017 06:57

blue I have a kettle pile too, occasionally I manage to clear it but it always creeps back

Thank-you to SC and stressy for the praise! I do currently get us all up and out for 840 weekdays but once I go back to work it needs to be 715....

Hope your dd had a great day foxes

And happy birthday to your dd today stressy
My dd is 4 in a few weeks so it's looking like her, stressy dd and bluepheasents dd will all start school this Sept!

Congrats on the job purple

Sorry if I missed anyone. I went a bit AWOL yesterday for no apparent reason!

foxessocks · 23/02/2017 07:49

Happy birthday to your DD stressy

PurpleDaisies · 23/02/2017 08:12

Thanks for the congrats everyone. It's a bit of a change from what I'm used to (different ages children with some extra needs) and I absolutely can't wait. It has only been a few months but it's hard when the days have no structure and the most mentally stimulating thing you do is the crossword. This thread has been fantastic for keeping me going. Money's also been very tight after the move and a couple of other unexpected blows so I feel like a big weight's been lifted and we'll be able to get back on track. Unfortunately I decluttered a lot of my work clothes so I'm going to Sainsbury's with a stack of nectar points hoping their 25% is still on.

Ta da's
Dishwasher on
Guinea pigs fed and medicated

To dos
Washing
Sainsbury's trip
YouTube sign language revision
MUST TIDY UNDER STAIRS (I wonder how many posts I've written that on)
I'm expecting a load of email forms to fill in for the job as well

Afreshstartplease · 23/02/2017 08:21

PurpleDaisies · 23/02/2017 09:09

Asap fresh. There are some checks and forms that have to be sorted but as soon as they're done I'll be starting. I'm itching to get going now (although technically I am also still in my pjs so not that keen to do useful stuff!).

foxessocks · 23/02/2017 09:49

It's glorious sunshine here but I've just flashed half of Tesco car park. Why why why did I put a flippy skirt on?!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/02/2017 13:48

Hello everyone and thank you for DD2's birthday wishes Smile. I'm at work today and she is at nursery but has gone in with a smile proudly wearing her '4' badge so a nice day so far. DD1 was so excited to wake her up to open her presents (clearly so she could play with them too but still cute). We are going to go for coffee and cake after nursery pick up - bit late in the evening but was DD1's idea to celebrate the birthday (they love going out for coffee and cake and DD1 is a pretty good event planner Grin). So not sure how much flying I will get done.

Ta da (list very short as at work on lunch break):-
Sent email about some extra work
Started online food shop

Oh dear Purple Grin. Afresh, 7:15 out of the house with 4 children Shock. mermaids, I am thinking good thoughts for your washing. foxes, I hope today isn't too much of an anti climax for your DD after the birthday excitement. I am a bit worried about the come down we will have after DD2's party at the weekend.

I also have a kettle pile. Didn't realise it was a thing Grin.

Blue, sounds like a fab start to flying. DD2 got a few things, a projector and mobile thing for her room (more grown up than it sounds, DD1 already has one!), a DVD and DD1 bought her some aquabead type things (which of course she can play with too!!). Plus a board game. Plus we have asked for lego and play doh from grandparents. She is at the age now where arts and crafts are not a complete and total disaster (most of the time) so we have sort of embraced that.

Cag, aww the nutcracker sounds lovely. Thanks for birthday wishes SC.

Must go, back later.
