Round up numero three:

We have lots of new and returning Fledglings to welcome this month: LiveLife Addictive Badger TooStressy DontStop Foxes, Marwoods, Fromwesttoeast, Ememem84, Furble, Pauline, lazyleo, Happilyahousewife, Outputgap, Justpeachy and YippeeTeenager

Blue - enjoyed a family get together and is looking forward to getting a new shiny sink fitted

TooStressy – is really getting the hang of figuring out a before bed routine that fits in with her day to day life and family. She also had a job interview and was successful – congratulations!

Fromwesttoeast – is in a bit of a flying slump this week – chin up, it happens to us all!

8 – is feeling very pleased with the smooth running of her flying and routines – proof that the system works!!

Yippee – has flown into the thread this last week and is looking for a system to get her “neat piles of unidentified stuff” sorted Grin Her DH was a little frightened by her new determination to FLY!

Shannara – has been doing lots of organizing and planning type tasks

Foxes – is keeping up a very productive stream of flying, even with a brand new hungry baby. Also spotted that FlyLady doesn’t really make a clear reference to fitting ironing into a specific zone or routine….

Celeste - is looking into potential schools for her DS. She has a decluttered Zone 4 already so have a Star. Unfortunately she has also had a few trips to A&E, get well soon Flowers

Zoo – has been checking out potential schools for her DS, having some fabulous non-shouty parenting triumphs and rediscovering her bedroom floor. In less happy news, Zoo’s MIL has passed away. Flowers to you, we’re all thinking of you.

Pont – is wanting to tackle her body clutter and is also a little sad that her last ‘baby’ is now a teenager. < Hands Pont a rocket to apply to her DS’s behind to chivvy his homework efforts > or maybe strap rocket to the demon x-box?!?!

(Pont and Zoo are now best drool buddies too)

Cag – has got the decluttering bug! She chivvied her DCs into doing a massive declutter of clothes, books and teddies

Pinkone – has joined the thread this week and is already feeling the relief from feeling overwhelmed by CHAOS and STUFF

Furble – has been enjoying the start of maternity leave, banking sleep-hours and getting the hang of the Flying system. At her last sighting, she might be going into labour…..!

Justpeachy – has joined the thread and is looking for tips on how to balance the FL system with working three days a week

Outputgap – joined the thread and finds it easier than the FL website –don’t we all— Wink

Cotswold – has been dealing with car accident hassle (hope you are all ok)

Babblehag – has rejoined us, she is reclaiming her house from clutter, coping with a number of health difficulties too and looking for some cheerful support along the way.

WhoKnows – has been maintaining her ‘guest ready’ house thanks to her well established routines Star Star Star She is also body decluttering and doing well with it

SC – hosted a big shin-dig last weekend, has decluttered six sacks of clothes to charity and has been taking her ‘furry one’ to dog training . She is also setting her DD a good example by having a break from online stuff for a few days.

Pauline – hosted an at-home party for her DS which trashed all the efforts of her previous day’s crisis clean, but it was worth it. She is a little burnt out now but still managing some baby steps

Honu – has corrected Babblehag’s misguided notion that yoghurt pots are for the bin and not the dog Grin

Grey is still engulfed with the writings of Sigmund Freud (uni course starts end of next week) and is taking a gently-does-it approach to potty training her DS.

< Big wingflaps to Toffee, LiveLife, Carpe, Feetheart, Badger, Mercury, Happily, MrsM, LazyLeo, Addictive, Marwoods, Ememem, Dogsbum, Ellie, Einstein and any other lurkers.>

Good lord you lot, that was a busy week!!!!

Thanks for the update grey it helps me keep up!

Looks like my relaxing bath has gone out the window...dh has managed to put a hole in a hot water pipe so he to sort out the leak but now we have no hot water...my dad is coming round to help him fix it but it's going to take a while! And it will probably end up keeping dd awake and she has nursery in the morning. Humph.

Plus I have a very grumpy baby and I'm starting to worry what on earth is up with him Sad

Oh and dd had a wee on the landing about two minutes after she said she didn't need to go. And I cried and she cried. And I felt really guilty because after all she's only 2.5!

I'm pretty fed up! What a day. Hope everyone else is having a more restful Sunday !

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/09/2016 20:21

Wow great round up Grey. Foxes I often wonder how much of my life I spend mopping up wee or poo and when I will not be constantly asking a child if they need the toilet! Hope your water gets fixed soon. How old is DS now? Could your health visitor help?

Well, just to report that I am really liking the before bed routine as long as I do it over the whole day Smile. On Thursday I really couldn't be bothered to do anything and had been at work all day so didn't do much that night and didn't lay out anything for tomorrow. On Friday morning I braced myself for a mad dash getting bags etc ready (getting bags ready seems to be a thing for me!). Looked around and all bags packed and ready to go by the door!!!!! I had done it without realising it through the evening SmileSmile. Go me.

Ta das:
Took DC swimming
Both DC in bed
Well deserved take away ordered
Lots of laundry
Pens and pencils organised a bit more
Rang my parents

To do:-
Dishwasher
Laundry
Send a couple of texts
Before bed routine
General 5 minute house rescue
Pack bags for tomorrow
Go through calendar for next week
Reply to a couple of work emails
This one's for tomorrow - do 15 mins on a report I have to write as I am on the preschool committee - why do I agree to these things?!
Also for tomorrow- deal with some more work emails - on my day off Sad

fromwesttoeast · 25/09/2016 20:31

Thanks for the round up Grey.
Ahh Foxes with small children around its like chasing your own tail at times. I found accepting it easier than trying to fight it!

Ta das today:
Decluttered some of tne overgrown garden until the garden waste bin was full.
Prepared two meals
Washed up once or twice
Washed that item that always lingers in the laundry basket because the red colour runs
Bag of ironing this morning

Really hoping to vacuum upstairs before bed - it's looking particularly hairy at the moment Blush

YippeeTeenager · 25/09/2016 20:53

Thanks very much Grey for the lovely welcome to this thread. Been busy all weekend blitzing the garden, taking greenery to the tip and then this afternoon got the car emptied of clutter, washed and hoovered. Totally exhausted now! I'm not sure this flyladying is good for me!! Grin

Links for Monday 26th September: Here is the Flight Plan which will update daily and give you an overall summary.

Here is the Launch Pad with all the basic information and links to relevant areas of the site.

Baby step number twenty six: accept that you are never behind with your flying. Just jump in right where we happen to be at that point in the month; it will all come around again next month.

Monday focus is the beloved [snort] home bleugh Essentially spending 10 minutes each on seven key areas of housework.

Note for Newbies : I have realized that I have been referring to what is actually the “Home Blessing” as the home bleugh. I should have clarified much sooner! In rebellion and recognition of the Fat Fairy’s twee and bartastic language, a Fledgling-who-shall-not-be-named renamed it the home bleugh. I have only ever known it referred to in this way and I’ve been on this thread for a couple of years now! Maybe SC / Toffee / WhoKnows / Einstein / Honu / Feetheart or Blue could throw some more light on it.

We are now moving into Zone 5, The Living Room. Spend 15 minutes decluttering here. If you have finished decluttering here is the detailed cleaning list

Unusually we have a whole week in Zone 5 – this doesn’t often happen a) because the number of full weeks in every month varies and b) because the Fat Fairy’s reasoning is that as we spend most of our time in our living rooms we naturally have to keep them more organized and tidy. Hmm
Anyway, the first mission is declutter the flat surfaces in your living room, only keeping the things that you love

Our habit of the month is establishing a Before Bed Routine This is actually a really good habit to develop, as many of us can vouch for.

And a little bonus feature for this month: FlyLady's back to school tips

We now have a shiny new sink, and I am going to have to do a plastic pot amnesty after having to empty the cupboard beneath it. Will also hopefully have a cat flap soon (plumber/handyman currently swearing at back door!)...

Chivvied DS2 into tidying his room at the weekend, which is a massive improvement, and also did some general tidying and hotspotting. And cleaned the kitchen blinds, which were vile! Will try to do a house bleugh later on (can't remember who coined the phrase, Grey!).

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/09/2016 12:29

Hi everyone

Babblehag · 26/09/2016 13:20

zoo i'm so sorry for your loss Flowers.

I haven't done any flying yesterday or today, I caught dp's tummy bug and its a nasty one, ds1 is currently in bed suffering too. Dp as usual has picked up the slack and made ds3's birthday a good one with a little tea party to end the day. I definitely need to get on top of things, I'm fed up with not having any order to anything, nothing is where it should be nor is it done by a deadline. Were literally winging it and hoping for the best. this is what I need right now. so while I spend the day recovering, I'm going to go through my old flylady control journal and see what I need to adapt etc.

Greymalkin · 26/09/2016 13:40

Yay for the lovely new sink Blue. I would love to have a cat flap for my two, but it would mean an uber-expensive one for glass doors.

Zoo - your poor DH. I get that landlords rely on their flats for their income/business/whatever, but two weeks to essentially take apart and pack up someone's life feels brutal. Plus there will be all the funeral stuff to organise too. I'm not saying it is the same, all our experiences are different, but something similarish happened to me when my Mum died over ten years ago now. I had just finished uni and my older brother plays the helpless card whenever 'big' decisions have to be made. I had to organise everything. Its hard. I'm sure you will be strong for your DH, but do you have real life support other than your DH who you can lean on?

Babble - Hi! I know you have returned to the nest, but I don't think we have ever crossed paths (even with your old name). Sorry to hear you are not feeling well, hooray for hands on husbands (oo-er!)

Ta Da

MercuryRising · 26/09/2016 13:59

I have been truly rubbish at flying so am creeping back into the thread. I have just under 2 months until my maternity leave finishes so I really do need to pull my finger out and establish some solid routines.

So sorry to read about your family's loss foxes.

So far today's ta da looks like this:
Dc up and to school
Washing up done
Wash load done and hung out
Went to watch ds class assembly at school
Downstairs hoovered
Laundry sorted in to piles but not yet put away.

...I guess it is a start Hmm

BlueEyeshadow · 26/09/2016 14:40

Sorry for posting and running earlier. Meant to add condolences to Still and hope that today is better, Foxes. Thanks

Cat flap is done. Cat has been through it. Sink looks lovely, and cupboard is reorganised. I've also had a general hoover around after clearing up all the sawdust etc.

foxessocks · 26/09/2016 17:14

Ta das
Loaded unloaded dishwasher
Hung washing up
Wiped kitchen sides down
Emptied nappy bin
Took rubbish and glasses downstairs
Took some bits and pieces upstairs

To do
Cook dinner
Try to do at least one fly lady task!!

Struggling to get much done today! Dd had nursery and ds wouldn't settle the whole time she was there , I think he's over tired but he doesn't settle very well during the day. He finally fell asleep just as we had to go and collect dd. Then we had to take dd to a hospital appointment because she has a UTI recently .

Oh and she had a wee on the sofa today! Argh.

Anyway...hope everyone else has has a relaxing start to the week.

Think I'll take ds to the HV clinic next week to check he is still putting on weight as he seems to be a very sicky baby which dd never was so I'm not used to it.

Sorry for the rambling!!

foxessocks · 26/09/2016 18:21

Ta das
Cleared up dinner stuff
Did the 10 min declutter of surfaces in living room - tidied off dining table and shelves. Finally took down our congratulations cards just going to sort through and keep a few.

Have done no home bleugh...not sure I have the strength! I guess I did empty the nappy bin maybe that could count...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/09/2016 18:27

Ta das:-
Lots of laundry done (is all over the bed though so needs putting away still)
Some general admin type things done
Bath time done yay.
Dishwasher on.

To do:-
DDs' bedtime
Put away laundry
Answer some work emails which can't wait, even though is my day 'off' grrr.
15 mins admin stuff for new job
Some decluttering
DD1's reading
15 mins on the preschool report
5 min birthday check (non stop birthdays here form September!)

Foxes is your DD normally toilet trained for wees. Can't remember what you said now. If she normally is and is wetting herself she might have another UTI. Apologies if that's patronising!

Zoo, hope the bereavement office was as helpful as it could be Flowers.

Grey hands on husbands is a whole different thread isn't it Wink?

foxessocks · 26/09/2016 19:12

Not patronising at all don't worry! Yes she is toilet trained and has been for ages. The wee accidents was the only symptom of the UTI she had previously so if she does it again tomorrow I think I'll take her to the GP. Last time this happened though it wasn't a UTI so sometimes it is just normal toddler accidents! She had her scan to check all ok today so fingers crossed the results all come back fine and the UTI was just a one off. Argh children are such a worry!

Links for Tuesday 27th September: Here is the Flight Plan which will update daily and give you an overall summary.

Here is the Launch Pad with all the basic information and links to relevant areas of the site.

Baby step number twenty seven: is planning what you are having for dinner before 6pm (or whenever you eat – the idea is you know in advance, whether that is the day before or by lunchtime)

Tuesday daily focus is planning : meal planning, activities, look ahead to next week to see what you can do today to help – organize any birthday cards, paperwork etc

We are in Zone 5, The Living Room.

Hmm
The next mission is spend five minutes digging down the backs of your sofas/chairs and under cushions Dig out any rubbish etc. BTW, the rule is whoever finds any loose change gets to keep it Wink

Our habit of the month is establishing a Before Bed Routine This is actually a really good habit to develop, as many of us can vouch for.

Babblehag · 27/09/2016 09:53

That's for this morning, so far. Its really good to have it written down, its in the back of my bujo now so I've got my old flying routines in there. I have some order in my life yay !!!!

Furble · 27/09/2016 13:00

Madness. Anyway felt very fed up again but feel better now I've made myself a cup of tea and tidied up a little bit. But now it's time to get dd up. And this morning was going so well!!

Babblehag · 27/09/2016 15:18

plans got scuppered a bit :/ so ill be playing catch up now.

Greymalkin · 27/09/2016 16:05

Afternoon Fledglings

Babble hope you are ok and great that you found your old routine. I started using a Bullet Journal this year too and I love it

Furble take it easy if you're not feeling 100%, is this your first DC?

Foxes - lol at enforcing sleep on your DS - I remember doing exactly the same thing "Damn it you will ruddy well sleep!!!!"

I've had a good day so far:
-Took DS to nursery
-Fed cats
-Finished another Freud paper
-Started the last Freud paper
-Remade our bed including all the mattress and pillow protectors
-Made other two beds
-Emptied, washed, dried and refilled two cat litter trays
-x2 loads of washing, one hung up to dry, other load being tumbled
-Folded and put away dry laundry
-Emptied all the bins
-Put bins out for collection tomorrow
-Went through all of DS's clothes weeding out the outgrown ones
-Went through all DS's books decluttered a heap that he shows no interest in, rotated the books in his room with the ones downstairs
-Phoned surveyor to book a survey on the house we are buying

Still to do:
Top up shop
Weigh in at Slimming World - dreading it as I haven't been for two weeks and have definitely put on weight
Collect DS
Dinner
Feed cats

TRIGGER warning re pets...
This morning on the way back from dropping DS off at nursery I stopped by the side of the road in all the busy morning traffic to gather up a cat that had used up its ninth life Sad I couldn't bear the though of it being left there, someone somewhere needed to know, rather that just left wondering about their pet. So I took it to our local vet, thinking they could check for a microchip. When I got back I gave my two extra cuddles which were completely unappreciated

OP posts:
YippeeTeenager · 27/09/2016 20:05

Grey I can't believe you scooped up a dead moggie to stop the owner worrying about it, that deserves a gold star for kindness to humanity Star

Ta das

Drove DD to school as she needed to be there early and bus is a bit unreliable
Worked till 1pm
Took dog to groomers
Food shop
Vaccuumed
Dishwasher
Changed two beds
Cooked two dinners
Dishwasher
Laid out clothes for tomorrow
Packed PE kit
More work

Feeling a bit glum today, which isn't my usual way. Not sure if it's the grey weather, not enough sleep, hormones or a combination of all three, plus a hefty dose of work pressure. Will try to have an early night and smile more tomorrow. Grin just practicing....

Greymalkin · 27/09/2016 20:17
