Oh plus fly lady stuff! Having a look at that now

Cagliostro · 21/09/2016 16:20

It's been a good day so far. I put a towel wash on and must do another in a bit (but need to get clothes out of the dryer first). Then had my friend round with her DCs for tutoring. Gave them a load of outgrown clothes etc and she also bought a couple of things I was selling so lots of things out of the house yay!

DD is being picked up for Brownies in a bit and then DS and I need to collect her later, and get a taxi back as I have a piano pupil due (bad timing!)

Salutarychoring · 21/09/2016 16:44

I don't know why, but I am still feeling desperately weary.

Have forced myself to carry on in 15min bursts with small breaks in between.

Have visited roof, dd's rooms, racks in two storage rooms, old chests of drawers and general happy dumping grounds and decluttered a load of dd's old clothes to give to my niece.

Feeling fairly chipper because I kept putting this off thinking I had huge piles of stuff and this was going to be a horrid task but I had actually kept it all in fairly good order and it wasn't that difficult a job in the end! Have six loads of bags to go to charity shop too!

Honestly, I think half the problem with me and procrastination is how I build stuff up in my mind! The reality is never usually as bad as the dread one suffers beforehand!

Still have to go out for my power walk - maybe that will wake me up!

And have [quakes in shoes] French lesson delivered by dd to come (in style she is used to at school). I am scared, very scared .... .

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/09/2016 18:34

Hi everyone,

Zoo Flowers, I hope she is as comfortable as she can be.

Glad you're feeling better Celeste.

I got the job Smile. It's only temporary work and actually at first will be a hassle as it is the odd extra shift on top of my usual job for not much more money and I need to do an induction etc all in my own time. However, I'm starting to hate my current boss job and so am planning my escape for more flexible work in the future, I hope!

Ta da:-
DC's bath
Half a load of laundry

To do:-
DC's bedtime
Organise bags etc as had two busy work days so just dumped themBlush

BlueEyeshadow · 21/09/2016 19:16

Bon courage, SC! - hope the lesson went well Grin

Flowers Still

Today I have dealt with a few hotspots and done some general cleaning in the kitchen, inspired by a combination of DH's birthday tomorrow, and getting a new kitchen sink and tap fitted. The old one hadn't been well looked after, so hoping I can keep this new set shiny!

Big waves to all and Brew Cake and Wine for all in need.

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/09/2016 19:34

Chocolate Cake Biscuit Chocolate Cake Biscuit

Links for Thursday 22nd September: Here is the Launch Pad with all the basic information.

Baby step number twenty two: something about perfectionism causing procrastination. And some more stuff about building your control journals

A Note to Newbies : Some of us do have do have proper control journals / house manuals etc, others on here use phone apps to keep track of daily tasks and routines, others use the bullet journal system. And plenty of others just fly by the seat of their pants!!!

Thursday focus is errand day Any task to be done outside of the home: grocery shopping, tip runs, dry cleaning, doctor appointments, that sort of thing.

We are in Zone 4, The Master Bedroom aka, The Boudoir. Spend 15 minutes decluttering here. If you have finished decluttering here is the detailed cleaning list

The next mission this week is to clean any clutter off your bedside tables and make them look pretty

Our habit of the month is establishing a Before Bed Routine This is actually a really good habit to develop, as many of us can vouch for.

And a little bonus feature for this month: FlyLady's back to school tips

Im not sure about doing a control journal...what is the benefit of it? So you don't forget anything I guess? Does anyone recommend a good app to use instead?

celeste83 · 21/09/2016 21:31

Congratulations Stessy Definitely worth the hassel of a new job if you aren't happy in your current job. Nothing worse than working somewhere you hate.

Don't apologise for talking about your mil's situation Zoo. Its obviously a heavy thing going on in your household at the moment, even worse if it brings back sad memories of a missed friend too. I was thinking it would be nice if they could let her go home, like they did with my Gran, rather than stay in a hospital but i suppose its the best place for her to keep her comfortable [big hugs].

Good list today Foxes Smile I remember all too well the small windows of opportunity to do bits when dc are very young.

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/09/2016 05:57

foxesI rememver the joys of the toy kitchen(smiles fondly with rose tinted glasses, stepping on plastic forks and be force fed plastic/wooden foods drove me a but bonkers at the time, but zoolets adored it we gave ours (kitchen, not Zoolets!! To local church mums n tots after it was outgrown as I wanted it to continue get lots love and use)

Ironed today's school shirts

Need to wake dd2 shortly(dons tinhat and strolls slowly upstairs)

8FencingWire · 22/09/2016 06:22

I took it easy yesterday and did admin mainly. But when we got back in, I hoovered, dusted, did the washing,DD emptied the dishwasher and tidied a bit, did the litter tray, between us we put the house in order in 20 minutes.
Today...more of the same. I need to do a wash I think.

Shannaratiger · 22/09/2016 06:40

fromwesttoeast · 22/09/2016 06:58

Aahghhh not keeping up at all. No zones, no missions. Maybe today....

Salutarychoring · 22/09/2016 09:05

Good morning all!

Try not to stress fromwesttoeast (although easier said than done I know!). Go back to basics and just do one 15 min tidy or declutter or perhaps one baby-step. Even that will make a difference I promise. Remember the Flylady mantra "you are never behind!" Flowers

Lovely to see you Shannara - you sound v upbeat!

Well done re: the job Toostressy! Short term pain for long term gain!

So sorry to hear your news Zoo - pancreatic cancer is evil - particularly tough for you so soon after losing your lovely friend Flowers Never apologise for venting on here - it's what this thread is for (with a bit of Flying thrown in Wink!!)

Hope you are still feeling better Celeste

You sound v organised Fencingwire!

Cag you inspired me to do a load of clothes decluttering yesterday. Sorted out hand-me-downs for niece and then started on my stuff! It's addictive once you get going!

Foxes (apologies for repetition to oldies!) I have a cj and find it useful. I must admit however that I found it most useful when first starting Flylady because it helped me "solidify" my routines etc by writing them down. It also contains meal plans and a list of jobs I do annually, bi-annually, every 2/3/4 months, weekly, daily etc with emergency and ordinary contact numbers for window-cleaner/lock-smiths/plasterers etc. Now I mainly use it as a house manual for when we go away (so it contains info for pet/house-sitters etc in various lang) and it's great because I can just give them the whole thing and know all the relevant gumph is in there: vet's number, plumber's number, what to feed the animals, their daily care, where to put post from office, how to lock up etc. I don't refer to it every day though by any means and an app or on-line doc would prob be more efficient now. Flylady info on cj here.

Foxes oh I loved dd's toy kitchen!! I would play with it for hours [happy memories - sniff]

Big waves to Blue and everyone else! (Yes, I survived the lesson thanks and it was surprisingly helpful! Win-win as dd gets to do revision without knowing it Wink)

As for Flying, well I hardly did anything on my list yesterday (most of them re-appearing on today's list) but I was busy all day: ended up decluttering a load of clothes, still more to do.

Ta da: morning routines inc animals, dw, wm, s&s, dog walk, dining room table hot spots

To do:
meeting with solicitor
drop baking tin off at friend's house
banking
finance letters
prep dh's shirts for washing
pack up parcels
dog training
French
power walk
make chick pea/pepper/tom/fennel stew thing (veggie Thurs)
carry on with clothes decluttering
more laundry
diet chart
find and re-active pedometer
find "walking for fitness" book
boudoir

Have a good day everyone!

Salutarychoring · 22/09/2016 09:11

OOps, Forgot to wave to Grey there!

Also, sorry fromwesttoeast just re-read my post there and it comes across as horribly patronising which was not my intention; just trying to stop you from being hard on yourself!

Also forgot - note to self - order dd's winter coat as she has totally out-grown last year's - she has grown 7 cm in a year! More expensive now as she is leaving children's sizes behind - everything is twice the price!

Greymalkin · 22/09/2016 09:38

Just dashing into the thread to say that DS has managed his first wee on the potty!!!!! He was sat on it for about 40 minutes watching a continuous loop of Dora the Explorer [claws out eyes] but the patience paid off!

Now off to play group, catch up with you all later

Sorry to go AWOL yet again, my car was damaged last week and deemed uneconomic to repair - it feels like I've spent most of my time on the phone since then, but all sorted now (no people hurt, just vehicles luckily).

Need to get back into it for the Autumn! Will have transport next week, until then walking everywhere which is quite nice apart from DD's moaning

Babblehag · 22/09/2016 11:18

Hello, I'm back again, thought I had finally got on top of things with house moves and jobs and kids and dp and pets and friends. But everything slowly went to shit again, had a massive declutter when we moved house (10 days before Xmas) all this whilst working 11 hours a day and having "friend issues" a massive skip load of stuff gone ...yippee!!!! And slowly getting new house decorated around work etc, and it looked good, until Easter when my back finally gave out, which resulted in 6 weeks off work, painkillers and physio. I also handed in my notice knowing full well that my back issues would present itself every time it got busy. Once I could walk without pain again, I could start my fall back on every time job delivering cosmetics and such and helping others do the same for a well known direct sales company. Its pocket money really but its something I can do on good days. But the issue with that is I have so much crap in my house from that job, I have a shed quarters to put it in but it does take over a fair bit. And now I have just been diagnosed with depression and anxiety again, so motivation has left me in a massive pile of crape, oh and because I wanted company I got a puppy, dp works nights, sleeps during the day and I can take the dog with me to deliver books. Only issue is she creates an unbelievable amount of mess!!! She raids the bin on an hourly basis and eats my pants!!! And the kids pants. And dps pants. And so I'm here, trying to regain a bit of control again. Please help!!! Ps I've been here many times before... but years ago.

Furble · 22/09/2016 11:40
