I'm making a banana loaf. First time ever. Not impressed with the dough, looks sickly.
To do:
Tidy purse and handbags.
Dust everywhere.
Hoover and mop the floors
Tidy hotspots.

pontificationcentral · 02/09/2016 16:14

Biscuit, I never do shoes or post-it's. My fly lady adjustments. Grin
8 - the only thing that makes banana bread edible is chocolate chips

Ta da:
Sink
Laundry
Dishwasher x2
Collected book
Decluttered pew/ hall (and actually dropped guides junk off at the hall On The Same Day...)
Groceries

Met lovely friend for lunch and had delicious curry at the mountain market. Friend was ok - a little unravelled but turned up, and kept it together. Spent about an hour with her before she started getting jittery and needed to leave, but she did really well. Much better than lots of other times! And curry!

Toffeewhirl · 02/09/2016 18:29

Very much appreciating the kitten photos!

Greymalkin · 02/09/2016 19:32

< big waves to Shannara > Welcome back m'dear.

Welcome also to Badger - you will find that we all tweak the system so it works for us. My equivalent of shining the sink is actually making my bed really precisely. It makes the bedroom to sleek and tidy and is my way of saying to myself, 'right, showtime!'

Pont - you are very enthusiastic and productive, long may it last.

8 - I've never managed to make a decent banana loaf. Leave some on the bar in the naughty corner would you?! Dragon loves his still warm fresh from the oven Wink

< Waves to SC, Blue, Toffee, Dogs, Celeste, Honu, Feetheart, Mercury, Ellie, WhoKnows, Einstein, Addictive, LiveLife > and anyone else I've forgotten.

I've had a reasonably productive day:

  • Took DS to nursery
  • Fed cats
  • 20 minutes on step machine
  • Took bike to shop for a service
  • Long appointment with mortgage advisor
  • Collected parcel from post office
  • Decluttered old computer peripherals and glass recycling
  • Grocery shopping
  • Shopping put away
  • Hung up wet washing
  • Made beds x2
  • Dishwasher on
  • Some university course pre-reading
  • Mucked out handbag and purse
  • Collected DS

Pont - what are you going to be studying? My masters course is in Psychoanalytic Studies and before it begins I have to do a week long intensive course on Freud. The stack of reading I have to do is vast...

Back in a moment with the links....

Linkie-poohs for Saturday 3rd September:

Chocolate Cake Biscuit Chocolate Cake Biscuit

Here is the Launch Pad for all your FlyLady needs.

Baby step number three is to explore the FlyLady website. This is actually a good one for our newbies, but please gloss over all the twee language...

Zone work is not enforceable on the weekends, but for those of you that live in the real world, stay in Zone 1: The entrance, front porch and dining room Spend 15 minutes decluttering here. If you have finished decluttering here is the detailed cleaning list

However, there are no specific missions as it is the weekend.

Our habit of the month is establishing a Before Bed Routine This is actually a really good habit to develop, as many of us can vouch for.

The focus for Saturdays is Family Fun Spend time together renewing relationships and having quality time together.

And a little bonus feature for this month: FlyLady's back to school tips

Well, I am joining ranks: my banana loaf is in the bin, it was vile!!! Bleurgh!
I'm a pretty okay cook/baker, I make my own bread and bake a cake every saturday since..forever, but that was a disaster!

Ta dahs

Tidied and cleaned nicely my living/dining/kitchen room. I hoovered and mopped the floors, it's all zooflora smelling.
I cleaned the work surfaces and the cooker (I fried some haloumi, jeez!!)
Dishes are done (dishwasher) and the sink is shining.

Changed the litter and the mad thing just went and had a massive poo, just to spite me.

One load of washing done and nearly dry (DD came home with headlice so I boiled/washed everything).
As a side: my washing machine spins 1600 rmp or something. Which means the clothes are practicly dry when they come out. Love it! It then goes on the heated rack. With a dehumidifier underneath. Half a day later they're ready to be folded and put away.

DD is playing with the kitten. She pretends he's a pokemon, she's also developed a really strange Scottish accent. The poor cat, keeps running and bashing his head under the sofa (she's not torturing the thing, he's enjoying jumping and running and keeps pouncing in her hair).
Last minute seaside weekend tomorrow, we're staying the night :)

pontificationcentral · 02/09/2016 23:00

Grey, your tada list is fabulous! I have spent all day skirting round my books - I have picked up a couple but put them down again, and decided that the way 'in' is to set up my workspace properly (which will involve digging out all my old theory books from last time round the block ready for action - thus reassuring myself that I CAN do this with a bit of a walk down memory lane. It all seems a long time ago!). Ideally this would be carving out a just me desk and bookshelf that wasn't in anyone else's way, but space is at a bit of a premium, so I haven't quite worked out how - that's also a job for this bank holiday weekend as I start on Tuesday! I wonder if we are taking any similar courses?!
Thanks for linkies! I've been rereading. I would LOVE to be the person with something lovely on the dining table, and welcoming objet at the door. Am def still at baby steps though!

pontificationcentral · 02/09/2016 23:06

8 congrats on binning the banana bread Grin and, erm, thank you for the now incessantly itchy head and paranoia Blush. We used to live in Glasgae and dd1 would role play in broad weegie Grin. Just role play. Nothing else. Desperately cute.
Have a lovely time at the seaside!

Grey it's Eng Lit. I'm expecting Freud to rear at some point but more likely Derrida/ Foucault. As I was deep in the gender quagmire I need to battle my Judith Butler demons, but I'll live. There are bound to be tons more trendy theorists that I need to get to grips with...

LiveLifeWithPassion · 02/09/2016 23:30

I love how productive everyone is in this thread and I'm really looking forward to establishing some good routines.
At the moment, things are a bit hectic. I'm still trying to unpack and sort the house out as well as doing the day to day to stuff.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 02/09/2016 23:49

Evening,

Been at work all day, then out at archery this evening and not doing much afterwards, just general tidying plus 10 mins bathroom cleaning before bed.

Thought I'd add a random cat photo to the thread to keep the kittens company Smile

Ta das

fed ds breakie
washed dishes
bathed ds
domestos down loo
made beds

Proper lazy day here! This storm has yet to arrive here either Hmm

Toffeewhirl · 03/09/2016 14:28

Celeste - ours are indoor cats for that very reason Smile.

Feeling very groggy, but have managed to get some school prep done.

celeste83 · 03/09/2016 14:52

Part of me doesn't like the thought of house cats. I would feel guilty about them being in all the time.

Storm has finally arrived. Its very dark outside now.

Greymalkin · 03/09/2016 14:56

Hi Fledglings, I'm seeing some uber productive Saturday mornings going on here!

8 - my w/m also has a rocket powered spin cycle and love that the clothes take so little drying time!

Pont - try setting your timer for 15 minutes, pick up a book and just read till the alarm goes off. Maybe the thought of a whole book or whole area of study is just too intimidating? I find the starting bit the hardest of all!

LiveLife - don't panic with all you have to do, any progress is good work. Don't bother with detailed cleaning, just focus on chucking clutter and putting things back where they belong.

WhoKnows - how is your archery going? I am seriously considering switching from my recurve bow to a long bow....

Celeste - I love Disney!! Which one is your favourite? I think Mulan is probably mine

Toffee what a beautiful cat - theres some kind of oriental breed mix in there I think?

Enjoy your coffee and catch up Mercury

If the links do not appear tonight it is because I will be drunk under the table with all my unruly mates. I will post in the morning.

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/09/2016 16:24

Spent last 2days frantically school wear shopping as zoolets have dared to have growth spurts!!
Cheery wingflaps to everyone!!

Toffeewhirl · 03/09/2016 16:57

Grey - he's gorgeous. My cats are Balinese - a type of Siamese.

Have taken DS2 out for a ramble on the hills. He'd been asking to go all day. Once there, he complained that it wasn't much fun Hmm. Does anyone else have a 10-year-old who already sounds like a disenchanted teenager? I don't know where all the sweetness has gone. Sad

DS1 has just been in to grumble that there's nothing to eat. I pointed out that the fridge and cupboards were full and I was about to start cooking dinner anyway once I'd drunk my tea and finished browsing on MN. He stomped off to the kitchen and shouted he was making himself a Pot Noodle. Could hear him grumbling about me as he made it.

LiveLifeWithPassion · 03/09/2016 17:02

Thanks Grey.

We've been up since 9 today which is a jet lag achievement in itself.

So today I've;

Done one laundry load
Bought new lunch boxes for kids
Cleaned kitchen
Cooked lamb curry for dinner
Helped kids with hw (!)

It doesn't really seem like much for a whole day.

I'm going out tonight and will tackle the last of the holiday unpacking tomorrow!
