The old thread has maxed out due to us being so busy cleaning so here is the new thread.

How everyone doing?

I've vacuumed downstairs and steam moped the utility room, kitchen, living room and hallway. I've also put the clean washing away. Still a lot to do though!

user1465714750 · 25/07/2016 18:24

Hi all,
I work full time and on a rare day off I try to do some housework but never seem to get the motivation to do everything that needs doing. I make lists and things but can never finish them (that's if I even manage to start them). How does everyone else get the motivation to do the housework?

Afreshstartplease · 26/07/2016 10:08

My current motivation is expecting a baby in October and knowing I'll have midwives and health visitors coming around as well as family and friends

So far this morning

First wash just finished
Dryer almost done
Pots washed
Dry washing taken up stairs

Next

Clean sink
Declutter worktops
Wipe worktops

handbags88 · 26/07/2016 13:00

My motivation was/is the same as Fresh - new baby and wanting to keep the house lovely and clean.

Also I hate that panic of people 'just popping in' and being ashamed because the dishes aren't done/bed hasn't been made etc!

I find that if I whizz around in the morning I can get all the basics done and then can go out or do larger cleaning jobs in the afternoon.

We were away for a few days over the weekend, so before we went I decluttered, hoovered, bleached the toilet and wiped around the kitchen so the house was tidy when we got home.

Today I have:

Done 2 loads of washing
Done 2 tumble loads
Folded towels and clothes
Made beds
Tidied around upstairs
Cleaned the bathroom
Hoovered downstairs
Emptied bins

Got loads done today - baby has been sleeping lots!

Need to:

Wash dishes
Hoover upstairs
Get DH to put ladders and dust sheet away

Afreshstartplease · 26/07/2016 13:12

Handbags I think I might use you are my inspiration, you sound like you have your shit together!,

I have been struggling. Just this week reduced hours at work, now nearly 28 weeks gone and DC on school hols. I also have spd that I'm yet to receive treatment for (go nhs)

The house had gotten pretty bad with me working full-time, juggling kids, dp works long hours and shift work, and then me being exhausted from the pregnancy. So I'm still playing fix it.

I hope I can get to the point you have!

Clean sink
Declutter worktops
Wipe worktops
another wash on
another dryer load on
take stuff to tip

Afreshstartplease · 30/07/2016 08:29

Where are you ?
Have all your houses gone to pot like mine ?!

Kim82 · 30/07/2016 12:28

Hi Fresh, how are you?

In answer to your question, yes my house has gone to pot completely! I'm still trying to get into a routine with starting work, the toddler is clingy as hell because she's unsettled having started nursery and I've had two of the kids birthdays within the last week so I feel like I've just been chasing my tail lately, especially with the elder 3 being off school now too. It's been manic!

I do need to get on top of everything now though, the house is really getting on my nerves. I'm not planning on doing a huge amount today, just the basics and we're off out for lunch soon but dh is taking the kids to his mum's for a few hours tomorrow so I'll be getting stuck in and doing the house top to bottom while they're out.

Let's see if we can get the thread going again. Posting on here does help me so I'm going to start doing it daily like I used to and hopefully it'll help me keep on top of things.

Afreshstartplease · 30/07/2016 13:53

Hello Kim!

I had such good intentions for today but it's gone wrong and I've been on mn far too long!

I have managed

Cleared backlog of pots
One load in dryer
One waiting to go in dryer
Shopping put away
Dry washing upstairs

Gonna try and do some more after my toast

Sixpencenonethericher · 31/07/2016 10:42

Morning I always read the thread but hardly ever post but because of health issues I can't do too much in one go my little list
Washing x4 towels and bedding
Hoover stairs , landing and bedrooms
Clean toilet and sink
Bleach loo

Afreshstartplease · 31/07/2016 10:44

Yet again had good intentions but feel fucking shocking so obv not gonna go well.

So far

Wash on
Dryer on
Bed stripped

Kim82 · 31/07/2016 11:55

Morning everyone. Not sure how much housework I'm going to get done. I went on an impromptu night out with my sisters and stayed out drinking til 2.30am so I'm feeling a bit delicate. So far I've put the washer on and that's it. I'll post a proper list later hopefully and get stuck in - the house desperately needs it!

Sixpencenonethericher · 31/07/2016 15:20

I cleaned the toilet sink and shower
Haven't hoovered yet
Stripped beds and washed them remake them later
4th load of washing done

Kim82 · 31/07/2016 15:38

Right, dh has just set off to his mum's with the kids. First few jobs are:

  • fold and put away clothes in dryer
  • put more washing in dryer
  • put another wash load on
  • clear up the toys in back garden
  • take stuff on the stairs upstairs and put it away

I'm off to get started...

noisyrice · 31/07/2016 18:05

Today I've done the following...
Hoovered downstairs
Dishes
Cleaned and organised the fridge
Wiped surfaces
Showered and finally washed my hair (yay!)
Washing
Made countless cups of tea
Walked the dogs we're 'dog sitting' down at the seafront
General tidy downstairs
Done the bins
Smile

Tomorrow I'm working 9-5:30 so won't get much done but I'm hoping to hoover upstairs and tidy my room up a bit. I may also go through the odd sock bag and pair up what I can!

willhazboz · 02/08/2016 12:18

Afternoon everyone! Hope you are all ok.
Yes fresh my house is a tip! I am motivated today and WILL get on top of the house! So far today I have
-put a wash in of girls clothes that is now dried and put away. (Dh put away)
-cleaned bathroom
-changed towels
-put towel wash on
-emptied dishwasher
-tidied living room

I need to
-go the shop to get dh some chocolate bars and my parents an anniversary gift.
-Hoover upstairs
-dust upstairs

And if I get that done
-Hoover living room
-dust living room and polish
-brush and mop downstairs (always needs doing!)

willhazboz · 02/08/2016 17:12

Right so I have:
-been the shops
-dusted upstairs
-hoovered upstairs

Hoping to be able to brush and mop before the day is out but it's looking unlikely. Hoovering living room is definitely out! Done another 2 loads of washing though. Just waiting for it to dry/finish washing and dry to put away.

Kim82 · 02/08/2016 20:22

Evening everyone. I've just sat down after another hectic day. I was at work from 8am - 2pm but before I went I managed to put a wash on then after work I:

  • cleaned out fridge
  • wrote shopping list
  • went to Aldi
  • put shopping away
  • put another load of washing on
  • picked girls up from my parents
  • picked toddler up from nursery
  • folded and put away clean clothes
  • made tea
  • cleaned up after tea
  • went through this month's money
  • put toddler to bed
  • sorted through the drawer full of old paperwork (now all organised into two lever arch files with labelled wallets - I'm very proud of it)
  • tidied living room

I'm definitely done for the day, I haven't stopped since I got up at 6.30am!

Afreshstartplease · 03/08/2016 08:14

Morning all

Determined to have a good day today although had a crap nights sleep

So far all I've done is our the dryer on and fill the sink

Next three jobs

Washer on
Wash pots
Clear stairs

Kim82 · 03/08/2016 08:35

Morning fresh, I'm also determined to get the house sorted today. I need to:

  • strip beds
  • remake beds
  • dust bedrooms
  • Hoover bedrooms
  • clean both bathrooms
  • washing
  • fold and put away clean washing
  • wash breakfast dishes
  • wipe over kitchen
  • sweep and mop thorough out downstairs
  • dust and polish living room
  • make drs appt for toddler
  • wrap and post parcel
  • go to sainsburys
willhazboz · 03/08/2016 09:45

I brushed and mopped yesterday but didn't manage to dust and Hoover living room.
Also didn't get to put washing away as by the time it dried etc dd2 was in bed so would have disturbed her.
Today's list:

-dust living room
-put washing away
-empty dishwasher

So far I have:
Put dishwasher on
Done handwashing

Got a very clingy tired toddler today so not sure how well I will do! Won't have chance to hoover as dd1 hates the Hoover and she's in a bad enough mood as it is.

Sixpencenonethericher · 03/08/2016 10:24

Morning everyone my little list
Hoover downstairs and furniture ( take everything off and Hoover )
Dust downstairs
Clean windows downstairs
Mop kitchen and hall
Hoover stairs
4 loads of washing

handbags88 · 05/08/2016 16:04

I watched an episode of How Clean Is Your House and I have got my arse in gear!

Last night did the dishes and put a load in the washing machine and tumble dryer.

This morning:

Put on tumble dryer
Put on washings machine
Tidied baby toys back upstairs
Cleared 2 drawers of baby crap to fit her clothes in neatly (instead of having piles of clean washing all over the shop)
Put away clean piles of washing
Bleached toilet
Made beds
Put out recycling

To do:

Make stir fry for tea
Hoover
Empty the kitchen bin
Wash up

Going away tomorrow for the weekend so need to:

Pack car
Strip beds
Bleach toilet and wiped bathroom
Set up cat feeders
Check fridge for stuff that needs used/binned

Afreshstartplease · 05/08/2016 16:08

I had a fairly productive morning today

Washed pots
Put wash and dryer on
Put washing away
Got DC to tidy bedroom
Hoovered all upstairs, the actual stairs and living room
Tidied living room

Now it's a bit messy again but I am fookin knackered

celeste83 · 05/08/2016 18:50

Hi all,

I've totally neglected this thread of late.

You've been busy handbags Hope you have a nice weekend away. Where are you off to for the weekend?

Hi Fresh Hows the pregnancy going?

Today i have just been getting the house in order for the weekend. Not really upto anything special this weekend. It'll be nice to have a nice chilled weekend at home but no doubt dh or ds will want to drag us out somewhere. I'd be content with them taking themselves out without dragging me however ha.

fed ds
washed dishes
made beds
tidied ds room
washed dishes
wiped kitchen worktop
made lunch
hoovered all rooms
dusted and polished lounge
general tidy up
made tea

Afreshstartplease · 07/08/2016 09:34

I think we've all been neglecting the thread and probably our houses

Pregnancy is OK thanks Celeste 29+4 how so telling myself less than 10 weeks to go (out of my 3 so far latest birth was at 39+4) Still suffering with spd , still waiting for physio, measuring big and possibly going for growth scans. But on the bright side I finish work in 3 weeks and only working part time til then!

Going to attempt to keep DC in the garden today and see if I can get downstairs all nice and tidy / clean. Have been working on the tidying skills of 3 year old dd who is stubborn as a mule , it's a work in progress.
