Hi all, I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. We had a lovely xmas spent xmas day with my parents, Boxing Day we went to Brother in laws for extended family catch up, and yesterday we went out for a walk along the beach and had lunch. Today we went to my friends for a birthday. I'm somewhat getting back to normality but not much housework done since xmas eve although the house is generally clear of wrapping paper. Need to get back into my routine so gonna get the hoover out and if anything else gets done that'll be a bonus!

penguinsarecool · 28/12/2015 15:31

Mumsnet is unforgiving when making errors in your posts on here Kansas They don't have an edit button which is annoying.

Kim82 · 28/12/2015 19:24

I managed to do the laundry and ironing.
Tidied ds's room ( again ) with his help.
Swept all the hard floors downstairs.
Dusted the lounge.

The rest of the day went to hell in a handbasket as my mother phoned saying she'd lost all her underpants and I needed to go buy more ( I kid you not- I'm untidy but my mum is NOT- how do you lose 15 pairs of pants?!). The day had nowhere to go but downhill after that......

afreshstartplease · 30/12/2015 09:22

Morning all

I am here for the day!

House is a tip, landlord is visiting in the new year so need to get sorted

Want to get Xmas Dec's down today as well as all the usual stuff

Can't decide where to start

OP posts:
kansasmum · 30/12/2015 10:44

Truly vile day here - wind and rain! Definitely an indoor day!
My list looks like this:
*
Clean bathrooms
Hoover upstairs and the stairs
Steam mop kitchen floor
More laundry
Try and declutter utility room at least a bit!*

afreshstartplease · 30/12/2015 11:22

The weather isn't too bad here just a bit drizzly and grey

I do need to take some parcels to the post office so I may try and do this later

So far i have

Done one wash load and the put it in the dryer
Cleared and wiped two worktops
Taken dry washing to relevant rooms
Washed most of the pots
Emptied the kitchen bin
Cleaned the Hob

Sounds like a fair bit but hasn't made much difference

Sigh

OP posts:
kansasmum · 30/12/2015 11:55

Utility room clean and tidy and decluttered! Woohoo!
Swept and mopped downstairs.
Hoovering done.
Laundry in progress- using drier to get it all done!

Bathrooms still to do.

afreshstartplease · 30/12/2015 12:01

Well done Kansas!

I've finished the pots, cleared and wiped the last kitchen worktop, cleaned the sink and rehomed a few bits and bobs

Argh, I'm struggling to find the time to post on here with all 4 kids at home all day! I'm managing to do the usual day to day jobs but haven't managed much else. This morning I've washed all the expensive hoodies on a cold wash and draped them over chairs to dry as they can't go in the dryer, I've cleaned the upstairs bathroom but not mopped it yet and I've tidied the beds. That's it so far. I'm going to wash the dishes now and then take the kids swimming so will have a load of towels to do when we get back. I also need to go food shopping at some point as we have nothing in for tea.

It's so stressful when the kids are off school, my routine goes out of the window and I'm constantly being dragged away from my jobs to play games/look at something/find out why someone's crying! Roll on next week when they're back at school!

afreshstartplease · 30/12/2015 13:46

It's hard isn't it Kim! How old are your dc?

I have chucked out the tree and I'm currently cleaning up the mess left from that

OP posts:
Kim82 · 30/12/2015 13:58

They're 14, 11, 8 and 17 months. You'd think the elder 3 could keep themselves amused wouldn't you? To be fair, they have been a massive help with the baby and do get along quite well they just drop their shit all around the house and don't pick it up until I go mental at them! I feel like I'm constantly chasing my tail trying to keep the house even vaguely passable - as I tidy one room they're in the other rooms trashing them! They keep dragging out all their new stuff to play with them then just not putting them away afterwards, it's driving me insane!

I've washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen anyway so downstairs is looking nice and tidy for now. Just waiting for the baby to wake up then we'll go swimming. When I get back dh should be home from work so I'll get him to watch the baby while I try and Hoover upstairs and mop the bathroom floor before making a start on tea.

Our Christmas decorations came down a couple of days ago, we needed the space to put the baby's new toys so at least that job is over with for another year.

afreshstartplease · 30/12/2015 14:01

Oh gosh yes those older ones should help more!,

My eldest is 7 and not too bad at helping out although will mess up his room but can be reasoned with to tidy it

6 year old is no where near as helpful and 2 year olds version of helping is not very helpful surprisingly!,

Getting the house back to usual now. Xmas decorations are down. Upstairs was cleaned yesterday and today downstairs was cleaned including the kitchen. Hopefully i'll slot back into my usual routine now.
