its a 9 in 1 steam mop and it is the most fun ive had cleaning in ages! my home is now hygienically steamed....no mean feat with dogs, cats, rats, kids....

its this one

its fab.
its got emulsion of window frames, the cupboard fronts were so easy it was a joy, the hob, the stainless steel splashback, the fridge, the floors, the tiles, the shower door.....all sparkling and done in seconds.

it was a cleaning revelation.
im now addicted to steaming stuff....including my thumb...which is dont recommend cos that hurts.

the reviews are not wrong on this one....
(morphy richards - commission please!)

Ok so 10 days after first seeing this thread I have finally caved in a bought one of these- hate cleaning but hope this might have the novelty factor and speed things up a bit!

Have quite a bit of hard flooring and three fully tiled bathrooms- strange to feel excited about cleaning but I can't wait for it to come.

Very strange for a steam mop to produce a ten page thread!

foolishpeach · 05/06/2014 08:30

I bought one too. I think it should come today. DH has asthma and I'm hoping this will kill house dust mites and clean really well without harsh chemicals.

I am such a sheep - I also bought the perfume oils based on the other thread. Blush

Ok, so my steam mop arrived this morning and having got baby to sleep I had a pitiful 45 mins to play before she decided to wake up again. Hmm So I only got to do a mirror, tiles under mirror/sink & half of sink...

Does everyone else's Morphy 9-in-1 one:

  1. make a kind of hod-da-da-da-dah/rattley noise whilst working?
  2. have a big 'puff' of steam, then chunter for a bit with no steam, then have another big puff?
  3. Doing windows/tiles do you have some steam going up & some water running down them?

Results:

  1. Mirror - sparkly clean - as I used window vacuum afterwards to get rid of water streaks.
  2. Tiles - look cleaner - although I never normally clean them, so anything would have been a bonus! [slattern emoticon] The grout is still discoloured - so may have a go later with the grouty brush to see if it improves.
  3. Sink - not much happened with angled nozzle, with the scrubby brush the bit round the plug came up clean. I had to stop there after giving it a quick wipe, but the main 'bowl' of the sink still looked grubby - any advice for which attachment to use on that bit?
HesterShaw · 05/06/2014 11:24

Mine is finally here. Now I am feeling really stupid, as I am looking at all the bits and instructions and so on, and feeling really daunted. A woman with two degrees and her own business beaten by a steam mop :(

HesterShaw · 05/06/2014 11:24

I have to ho and get some deionised water first. Rainwater is the same isn't it?

whatsonyourplate · 05/06/2014 14:12

I've just got this one: www.amazon.co.uk/Abode-Steam-Cleaner-1500-Black/dp/B00CLSPS1A/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1401973730&sr=8-3&keywords=abode+steam+cleaner having sent the 9 in 1 one back.
I've only had a quick play but have found the steam much more powerful so far. It does take longer to heat up (5 mins) so I guess it depends what you're after.

Iamnotachewtoy · 05/06/2014 17:10

Mine has arrived too and I love it! I do wash the floors (honestly) but I couldn't believe the dirt on the cloth when I went over them with the steam mop. I'm tired out now though so I'm sitting admiring it and mnetting...

leeloo mine does 1 & 2, I was wondering if it was normal but I think it might be the water heating. I scrubbed the grouting in the bathroom with the grout brush and dirty water ran down from it but no water ran down when I did the tiles with the small microfibre nozzle.

sergeantmajor · 05/06/2014 17:20

I want it I want it I want it

RestingGenius · 05/06/2014 17:29

Went and bought this at Argos the other day.
Wow.
Turns out the grouting between my kitchen floor tiles is a sandy colour, not black Blush.
Did the oven in about 30 seconds using the wee rubber scrapey attachment. Amazing job.
Have made a start on the victorian mosaic hall floor tiles which I do believe have some victorian dirt between them!
I want to get - my floors at least - to a level of clean where I can use the floor mop and cloths daily for a quick glide without them turning up black within two swipes Blush.
Going to attack the shower screen tomorrow. Rather excited about that Wink

GiveTwoSheets · 05/06/2014 17:33

My new EPL BSC 1500w steam cleaner wins hands down in terms of power! My Morphy Richards 9 in 1 is crap in comparison.

5madthings · 05/06/2014 17:52

Omg I want one!

My sister has bought one after this thread and says it's fab and reading this thread means I need one.

I am just thinking about my taps and cooker and tiles and upvc doors and Windows and how clean I could get them...saddo!

OryxCrake · 05/06/2014 18:11

I've ordered one. Am a sheep...and it sounds amazing. It's arriving tomorrow and I can't wait as my house is a disgrace!

RestingGenius · 05/06/2014 18:15

Forgot to mention an added bonus - I used it loads on Tuesday and a bit yesterday and today I feel like I've spent a few hours weightlifting at the gym!
Didn't feel too tiring or heavy when using it, but obviously my muscles have had a wee workout Smile

leeloo1 · 05/06/2014 20:04

Iamnotachewtoy - thanks, thats a relief. :) I did the tiles with the squeegee (spelling?) head I used for the mirror (& it was this that had water running down)... I might try the microfibre head next time...

Baby almost asleep... I might go and do a bit of sneaky steam-mopping. Grin

leeloo1 · 05/06/2014 20:13

btw - the Morphy 9-in-1 is the number 1 Bestseller on Amazon... I wonder why? Grin

NCISaddict · 05/06/2014 20:22

My ensuite and bedroom are sparkling, not sure where all the dirt has come from, we've only been here a week and the dog isn't allowed upstairs. The loo seat hinges were particularly disgusting. Blush

Anyone got any recommendations for good devices to sweep the floors first? I'm hoovering them at the moment but that's not brilliant. They're all laminate or tiles throughout the house apart from carpet on the stairs.

Greenrabbit · 05/06/2014 20:36

Mine arrived yesterday. I cleaned the glass table and kitchen floor. I'm actually excited at the prospect of cleaning the oven at the weekend!

NCIS. I have a GTEC cordless sweeper for my wooden floors, it's excellent. Much easier than hoovering all the time. I bought it from Amazon. They don't seem to stock the model I have any more, but they have a similar one for £46.

LIZS · 05/06/2014 20:54

I use a Vileda Flat headed mop between washes and to sweep.

JimmyCorkhill · 05/06/2014 21:07

Missed parcel note. Noooooooooooo! I only went to the end of the road to get DD1 from preschool. I want to clean things

ThatVikRinA22 · 05/06/2014 22:34

leeloo mine does all those things but as long as it works im not bothered!
the big puff of steam i use to my advantage and utilise it when it happens....

givetwosheets - that one you mention appears to be no longer available....

im quite happy with my morphy richards one i have to say. im sure there are more powerful ones about but this one is fine for what i need. i liked the price too.

NCISaddict · 05/06/2014 22:36

May have to put off the GTEC buy until DH is fully convinced of the benefits of the steam cleaner.Grin

ladymariner · 05/06/2014 23:14

Baaaaaaa......another house work hating sheep here, just ordered one solely on the reviews on this thread. It will be sorely tested here, methinks, looking forward to seeing how it fares on my bathroom tiles!!

Inselaffe · 05/06/2014 23:33

I've just bought one. I hate cleaning. I can't decide whether you are a bad (£ spending) or good (cleaning!) influence Grin

ThatVikRinA22 · 06/06/2014 00:37

were i on commission i would be very bad.....since i am not and am espousing the virtues of this steam mop for free....i am a very good influence.
i hate cleaning.
now i quite like it. i think i have a rather perverse liking for watching dirt get blasted.....

NCISaddict · 06/06/2014 07:05

I'm having to resist killing DH this morning as he has splashed water all over my lovely sparkling bathroom. I am resisting getting the steam mop out to give it the once over, don't want to peak too soon Grin
