its a 9 in 1 steam mop and it is the most fun ive had cleaning in ages! my home is now hygienically steamed....no mean feat with dogs, cats, rats, kids....

its this one

its fab.
its got emulsion of window frames, the cupboard fronts were so easy it was a joy, the hob, the stainless steel splashback, the fridge, the floors, the tiles, the shower door.....all sparkling and done in seconds.

it was a cleaning revelation.
im now addicted to steaming stuff....including my thumb...which is dont recommend cos that hurts.

the reviews are not wrong on this one....

Ok, I have to admit that every time I've seen this thread I've read it as 'contraception'Smile

But now I've read the thread...

Does it do the grout in bathroom tiles? And would it help clean the fabric sofa? (Sorry if they've already been asked)

HospitalHassler · 06/06/2014 08:13

Would it get dog piss stains out of carpets? Or is that too optimistic?

CompanionCube · 06/06/2014 08:27

Hospital It worked very well with 1001 carpet spray on the dog piss stain on my carpet.

HospitalHassler · 06/06/2014 08:59

Companion so you sprayed 1001 on it, then steamed it? How did you get the residue out, did you sponge it away?

I'm thoroughly pissed off with piss stains. My dog has a little incontinence problem, just the odd leak - so I clean then immediately after they happen, scrub away with Vanish and warm water... then when it dries, it looks like I've never cleaned it. Only thing that worked was hiring a carpet cleaner for the weekend.

I'm hoping a steam mop could help...

RosegoldRuby · 06/06/2014 09:04

The grouting on my tiles came up lovely and white. It was really grungy too as I had been putting off doing it . I get a touch of arthritis in my hands and scrubbing the bathroom makes them ache for days.
Not now though, thanks to Vicar.
Also my huge tiled kitchen floor came up the best ever, and so easily too. Muddy dog, keen gardeners (that would be me), little grand kids forgetting to remove Wellies, the floor rarely looked clean. Steamer just glided over the floor and now I can't stop admiring it.

CompanionCube · 06/06/2014 09:17

I sprayed 1001 on it, left it for 5 minutes then I used the scraper attachment on it so the steam went really deep into the carpet. I scrapped it a few times then wiped up the gross excess water. The stain has gone but I will probably go over that corner again as it released a horrible smell at the time and I want to be sure.

I have a stubborn shih tzu who was really difficult to train so there were some horrible darker patches near door frames.

Cocolepew · 06/06/2014 09:40

I'm tempted just to try to clean the grot in my upvc window frames. I'm having problems with mould too

leeloo1 · 06/06/2014 09:41

Thanks Vicar, thats reassuring - I'm glad I haven't been sent a dud, I agree it can have annoying bits as long as its actually doing its job!

So do you think the extra puff is just a bonus feature? I was worried that that was the only time it was working?!

I'm wishing I could have a child free half day so I could really put it through its paces! ;)

AShadowStirsWithin · 06/06/2014 09:49

There's a ten in one steam cleaner on groupon ATM for £39.98. Has anyone got that one and know if it's any good? I cannot afford the one on this thread but would like one as have dust allergy and spend far too long wet dusting every day.

BuzzardBird · 06/06/2014 09:52

Was wondering the same thing Shadow. Amazon are now doing the MR one for £54.99 as well.

AShadowStirsWithin · 06/06/2014 09:58

I can afford the groupon one as I've got some credit to use on my groupon account whereas the amazon one I'd have to use my bank acc which is embarrassingly empty Grin. That's the thing with groupon though isn't it, you have to gamble!

psychicpaper · 06/06/2014 11:47

mine came this week,

the hinges on the loo, and on the cooker hood apparently were not rusty, but covered in orange grime, ewww!

my lino is so so sparkly!

DollyWosits · 06/06/2014 12:14

Does anyone who has Which membership mind telling me which steam mops are their 'best buys'

I used to base all my household purchases on Which's best buys and never regretted the decision.

HesterShaw · 06/06/2014 13:48

I came, I saw, I mopped.

HesterShaw · 06/06/2014 13:51

It got RUST off my shower

BrucieTheShark · 06/06/2014 13:56

I am such a sheep, had to get one.

PurpleAlert · 06/06/2014 20:29

Well mine arrived and I have had a quick play- bathroom tiles came up a treat and the kitchen cupboard fronts look much better.

Tried the inside of the oven door but it didn't work that well. Having said that it is filthy as hell quite dirty!

Was shocked at how dirty the pad was when I took it off! Blush

Looking forward to giving the shower cubicle a going over tomorrow.
Anyone know if its ok on travertine tiles?

NCISaddict · 06/06/2014 21:49

I'm having a bit of a senior moment Purple I read that as transvestite tilesBlush, was slightly puzzled for a while.

SquidgyMaltLoaf · 06/06/2014 23:23

I now have my shiny new mop but am worried I am doing something wrong... Tried the little nozzle attachment on grout and it didn't do much at all. Am I supposed to keep the trigger pressed down? When it's pressed I get a loud clicking/motor noise - normal or not? Also the steam goes great guns for a few seconds then stops, and repeats this in a cycle.

Very sad that my shower isn't yet sparkly Sad

SquidgyMaltLoaf · 06/06/2014 23:29

Ah just read more of thread and haven't tried the little brush on the grout so will do that. Also seems the noise may be the same as leeloo's... Maybe Vicar should post a list of how-to tips?

JimmyCorkhill · 06/06/2014 23:36

False alarm. It was my resized wedding ring in the parcel. Is it bad that I was disappointed because I want my mop?!

ThatVikRinA22 · 07/06/2014 00:00

Grin at jimmy.....im sure a wedding ring is far more exciting!

ok.
how to.....

keep the trigger pressed down most of the time - just give it a little breather now and again to catch up.....the clicking noise stops and the steam starts....once its going its very good but does take a bit of warming up, it says on the bumph that it should only take 30 seconds - i find that about right but you have to keep the trigger pressed for about 30 seconds then you can keep releasing once the steam is going.

i find the attachments brilliant.
i used the narrow brush head for the grooves around upvc windows and doors, edges of tiles, tile grout, sealant around the bath etc, etc. i always squirt liberally with cillit bang first.....cillit bang is brill! combined with this mop its a fab.
i use the round brush head for any other jobs that needs a good scrub
i use the flat head attachment for scraping - excellent for getting emulsion of window frames or floors.
i use the bent nozzle for the toilet hinges and under the toilet rim. also for the back of taps, around the base of taps, down plugs, etc. I use bleach in the loo after steaming.
i use the large flat head (the velcro one) for work tops, cupboard fronts, splashbacks, cooker hood, front of fridge,
i use the smaller flat head (the elasticated one) for upvc doors, smaller areas, cupboard fronts, kick boards, skirting boards, door frames, window frames, window sills, any surface area really,
i use the squeegee for glass, mirrors, windows, shower door but i do rub down with a microfibre glass cloth straight after to get rid of streaks. (works a treat btw....no chemicals or glass cleaner required)
for large areas (floors) i use the large cloth attachment and use as a mop
for carpets - to refresh the pile i use the floor glider over the large mop head
for more concentrated stains i would use a carpet mousse or cleaner and then work in with the steam. remember though - its not a carpet cleaner or a carpet shampooer....it might help to lift stains using xanto or similar. (xanto is a carpet mousse stain remover that is 99p from savers and is the best thing i have ever found for stain removing on carpets! its fab.)
for the sofa i use the large or small cloth head - either the velcro one or the elasticated one. my sofa is leather - DD noticed tonight it was cleaner and felt cleaner - i just gave it a really quick once over. i wouldnt over do steam on leather. (just thought it might bring the pile up on my ugg boots! will try that next!!)

tonight i gave my floors, windows, mirror and doors outside and in a quick go over. it really is so fast and you dont have to rub or scrub - the steam does the work.

my house is cleaner than its ever been - i hate cleaning but this is fast and easy.
the only thing that takes the time is changing nozzles and heads but now ive got that down to a fine art - i have an order so i dont need to keep swapping heads!

i only use chemicals now for the really tough jobs -grout, toilets, etc.

CheapBread · 07/06/2014 00:01

Mine's clicking too, do they all do it? does it need to go back? My floors were cleaned but still had marks and it couldn't get the scum off my shower door. My house is not as manky as this post makes it sound!

CheapBread · 07/06/2014 00:02

Cross post, will try again tmw, thanks vicar, you hysteria causing mass white goods purchase enabler x

ThatVikRinA22 · 07/06/2014 00:37
Grin i wish i had got ds to do me one of those click through things where for every purchase you get a %!!

i didnt btw....i just wish i had.

anyway - the clicking - i have found its worse if the water chamber is not full - it clicks if the water isnt filtering through to make steam so its worse when its upside down - ie - if you are cleaning something above your head....
i make sure the water is full and i periodically point the thing downwards so gravity helps.

it does click but should still steam.
i noticed it clicks more when the the chamber isnt in quite right or when not full.
hth!

oh btw - for shower doors use something like cillit bang first that dissolves limescale - squirt liberally, swoosh it about with a cloth and then use the squeegee attachment, then use a microfibre glass cloth. soap scum is a bugger to clean but cillit bang combined with the steam gets mine gleaming. squeaky clean in fact.
