She's back! DH loathes it, but I love the Anthea Turner: Perfect Housewife programme - it's on BBC Three on Thursday 8-9pm.

socks even in pairs are lucky to make it to a drawer before wearing. I try to keep all the odds in a central location so mas sock matching can take place once in a while.

Me too Skribble, but I've never known anyone with the talent to loose socks like my husband.

He regularly ends up with 20+ odd socks in the odd sock box.

Having seen the price of the boards though I am going to make my own g

Small baton of wood, a few pegs, some "no more nails" and a slap of paint!

So - anyone else tried the napkin folding? I now have a tissue folded in the shape of a lily.

No but I did notice there were no coasters on Anthea's table at the beginning when they were having coffee

sorkycake · 14/09/2006 21:27

What was the tip she gave to do with towels and some folding at the bottom, which she had toothbrushes stood up in?
Dh started insisting I listen to whatever it was he was chuntering on about

JackieNo · 14/09/2006 21:33

It was another thing for guests (as well as folding their towels in the shape of a pig) - fold over the bottom fifth of a hand towel about a fifth, then turn it over and fold the 2 long edges in to leave a pocket on the other side into which you can tuck bits and pieces your guests might have forgotten, like a toothbrush, toothpaste and a nail file (presumably nothing very heavy).

Oh dear - need to edit - 'bottom fifth of a hand towel about a fifth' sorry! It's really difficult to describe.

I get it, I think!
Thanks x

I just tried the guest towel thing on my kitchen hand towel and it held 7 dessert spoons without collapsing.

Piffle · 14/09/2006 22:21

I need a sock board (or two)
My windowsills and radiators are full of odd socks... despite buying ds only the same brand of socks in one black and dp the same in blue, I have several unmatchable pairs, which take weeks to relocate their original partner from down the side of ds's bed...

My kids can do the lily fold with napkins, I have trained them well, great for keeping them busy until food arrives in restaurants

Skribble · 14/09/2006 22:53

Napkin folding.

Hi everyone, I'm new to MN (hence originally posting this as a new thread!! but came across this thread board and reading down noticed someone talking about a book to accompany the series. I too (rather tragically) find AT compulsive viewing and remember going into Borders trying to find a book after the first series, to my delight
I've recently found this: \link{http://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Perfect-Housewife-Household-Management/dp/0753512858/sr=1-1/qid=1170239913/ref=sr_1_1/026-1451741-8187617?ie=UTF8&s=books}

I'm sure most of you will already be aware f it but thought I'd post this just in case.

purplelune · 31/01/2007 11:20

Seems I still can't do the whole link thing despite help

I fear I'm talking to myself again.....

What was her all purpose cleaning solution? How much vinegar, borax and water with the lavender oil?
