She's back! DH loathes it, but I love the Anthea Turner: Perfect Housewife programme - it's on BBC Three on Thursday 8-9pm.

Ok to set the scene. Anthea, looking lovely fresh and perfect (bitch) meets a woman artist whose house is a tip & a man who hoards stuff everywhere. She takes them to her beautiful gorgeous mansion, patronises them a little and then takes them into her wicked red velvet seated home cinema to show them on big screen how dirty their houses were. The man blinked a bit when his kids described their house. The woman started to blub a bit. Then she got them cleaning stairs. Easiest way to dust banisters is with an old sock ion your hand. Also a damp rubber glove gets pet hair off your stairs. Cue Antheas beautiful house again (bitch) where she got a piece of fluff off of her stairs.

They then had to set a dining table for a romantic meal, Gorg dining room with lots of little hearty candly thingies on gorge table. In between this lots of shots of Anth looking Gorg (bitch).

The woman won. it was very entertaining telly. Anth is definitely a domestic goddess I am afraid. She looks fab, her house looks fab. Like a chocolate box pic really

SherlockLGJ · 24/08/2006 21:10

I found her more tongue in cheek this time, but Lord God but those houses are mingin.

Rather one is no longer mingin, and the other must try harder.

I could not live like that.

I get down if we accumualate any more than four days laziness.

Shallow without a shadow of a doubt, but that is the way I am.

hermykne · 24/08/2006 21:15

i love it, the tips are great i have to say, but antheas house - sorry its a bit dated in my opinion for someone who has such a fresh youngish take on style of dress . its like something a conservative fifty + would live in.

madrose · 24/08/2006 21:16

wish she wld come and sort out my bedroom

daisy1999 · 24/08/2006 21:17

Now I did have to leave the room whilst it was on (a pesky kid needed my attention ), but was there no handy folding tip today ?

madrose · 24/08/2006 21:19

interesting tip re rubber gloves

hermykne · 24/08/2006 21:20

yes mad rose it was

MrsSpoon · 24/08/2006 21:22

Does anyone have any idea where I could get the big wicker/sea grass (whatever it was made of) basket thing that Anthea recommended putting School bags and stuff in?

UCM · 24/08/2006 21:26

I rather like the basket for the stairs. One presumes it's to store stuff in until you actually go up the stairs. Definitely a must have . I think Wilkinsons do wicker linen baskets with canvas lining. Doubt that Anth got hers there though.

madrose · 24/08/2006 21:28

you can get the 'stepped' baskets, that fit on the stair from places such as scotts of stow.

MrsSpoon · 24/08/2006 21:53

We've got an on the stairs basket but I got it in a charity shop (bargain it only cost £1.50).

I didn't think the basket she showed was as big as a linen basket, don't want anything too tall.

It's a wonder that Anthea doesn't have a website selling all the stuff she features?

UCM · 25/08/2006 09:18

Madrose I know I am getting old as Scotts of stow is one of them supplement mags that come with the Sunday mags which I actually read along with the flower ones

flossieteacake · 25/08/2006 11:08

Oh my gosh - how I wish I had BBC3 - Just spent the morning working out how to fold the t-shirt and now feel a new sense of eagerness to organise and de-clutter my life! Please tell me anthea is available on DVD?

NomDePlume · 25/08/2006 11:11

Bugger, bugger, bugger, I forgot about it and ended up watching a recorded Blizzard episode

BTW - aplaceforeverything sell those stair baskets, There you go

NomDePlume · 25/08/2006 11:13

Or JoJo

Bugsy2 · 25/08/2006 11:30

OK, I have to ask as I watched this last night. Does anyone really, really have houses as messy as the people we saw last night? Surely these people are found for their freakish messyness - or am I deluding myself as to the tidyness of people generally?

hermykne · 25/08/2006 12:34

i just cleaned my stairs with the rubber glove {smug}
not as dirty as the one on the prog last night and we're here 4 years.
