She's back! DH loathes it, but I love the Anthea Turner: Perfect Housewife programme - it's on BBC Three on Thursday 8-9pm.

Am a new convert - watched tonight for the first time tonight. Can see why it's so popular here!
Just followed the T-shirt folding video and the way I do it is much faster tbh, but still hugely curious about the mysterious methods of towel folding - anyone care to enlighten me? TIA

AnelaSunshine · 31/08/2006 21:07

I bet those were brand new knickers btw

UCM · 31/08/2006 21:30

Anth' referred to the man who invented the hoover as God. Do you all hoover your floors before you mop? Sadly I do but learned that I should use the flat pointy thing on my hoover for along the skirting boards.

anelasunshine scroll down to fussymummy 17 aug for towel instructions... it will change your life

AnelaSunshine · 01/09/2006 13:01

Thanks flossie. Am trying to follow fussymummy's advice but still getting a bit stuck, how thick can I be?
Is Anthea repeated ever?!

Lay the towel flat, fold each side into the middle so into thirds? and then fold over itself so you have a rectangle that is 4 layers thick. (no messy edges showing at the sides!!!!!!)
Then take the two ends i thought there weren't any ends? and fold them into the middle, then fold onto itself.
You should now have one very neat towel with no messy edges showing!!!!!!!!
SORRY I just don't get it.

JackieNo · 01/09/2006 13:10

Think the second stage is described twice - fold into thirds, then bring the ends into the middle, and fold in half again(ie, where the 2 ends almost touch). Does that make any more sense, or have I just confused you more?

oh I took it to mean that once you have your 4-layer very long rectangle, you then take the ends (as in the top and bottom) fold THEM into the middle, then fold in half - has that helped?

AnelaSunshine · 01/09/2006 14:31

THANK YOU! i think I have done it! It does look very neat indeed though it's not very quick- is this how they do in hair salons?
Might have to see if I can photograph each stage to check I am doing it right!

UCM · 01/09/2006 16:57

I tried the T shirt folding but just can't get it for some reason.

UCM have you watched the video ? tis the only way to understand but the Martha Stewart step by step helps too.
I will have to get the camera out to show my method which is a lot less hassle.

WHO coems to your house and LOOKS in your airing cupboard at yer flipping towels?>

JackieNo · 01/09/2006 17:44

It gives a sense of pride, as in 'my house may be a tip, but at least my towels look nice'.

Also another huge fan here, I want the sock board that she featured for pegging your odd socks to, till you find the pair!

But then I am also a fly lady convert of just over a year, so this just helps!

princessmel · 01/09/2006 19:09

Hi, Mumsnetter 2ManyPimms is on it on sept 7th.
We all have to watch her! I hope she wins. Maybe it will say the reason she needs to go on the prog is because she spends so long on Mn! Only joking Pimms.

JackieNo · 01/09/2006 21:51

Here you go weirdbird - the Sock Exchange . Actually that site has lots of other fun stuff too.

Thank you JackieNo

I did try googling but didn't get very far!

Lucybug · 02/09/2006 10:05

Do you think 2ManyPimms would sell me a copy of Antheas handbook?? I would love to have a look at one of those!!

multitasker · 02/09/2006 12:15

What oils do I put in the bicarb? I havent got BBC3 and have tonnes of spiders around my windows.

Neena28 · 02/09/2006 14:09

Lucybug...so would I.

Am surprised that there isn't a book yet, bbc are usually quite quick to bring out books from their series.

weirdbird · 02/09/2006 16:55

Maybe they are waiting for Xmas to release it!

Heres hoping...

Lucybug · 02/09/2006 21:18

Christmas would be good! I have searched everywhere for something and can't find anything. If you put in "Anthea" on Ebay, you can buy a signed postcard of her if you want to but no book!

MadameButterfly · 03/09/2006 14:54

Thursday's show is repeated on BBC3 tonight at 8pm.

I must remember to watch it as I missed it this week as we were on holiday.
