She's back! DH loathes it, but I love the Anthea Turner: Perfect Housewife programme - it's on BBC Three on Thursday 8-9pm.

thanks madamebutterfly, I really wanted to see that

JackieNo · 03/09/2006 15:05

Think it was vinegar, hermykne. Don't remember if she specified hot or cold water, but I'd use hot - dissolves things better. Good luck.

The vinegar thing works wonders on windows and mirrors too, buffed up with an old t towel!

hermykne · 03/09/2006 17:50

bunglemother i did my windows and mirrors today - a sunday - i was bored!!!!

bunglemother · 03/09/2006 17:54

doesn't it make you feel good though?? really worthy and smug...!!

housemum · 04/09/2006 12:40

An Anthea-type tip from me this morning. Saw the latest "you Are What You Eat" magazine in Sainsbury's and it has a free magnetic write-on-wipe-off board with it (the size of the magazine). As my fridge-freezer is in the garage (I don't think St Anthea likes fridge magnets), I have now stuck it on the door and listed the fridge contents - theory is that as the pen is attached I can just wipe off when I use stuff. Brillian! (If I do it....)

bunglemother · 04/09/2006 19:53

that sounds fab!! does it come with pen? or tips on how to train dh to write on the list when he has finished something??

housemum · 04/09/2006 23:53

Comes with a pen - attaches by a magnet, and the cap has a sponge on the end to rub things out.

Can't help with training dh though....

bunglemother · 05/09/2006 11:51

thanks for that, will invest this pm!!

JackieNo · 07/09/2006 17:47

On tonight - the programme with 2manypimms, I think?

OP posts:
MadameButterfly · 07/09/2006 17:49

I must remember to weatch it tonight.

ANAconda · 07/09/2006 20:49

agree - don't care about the 'competition' element, just want more andrea tips and her cleaning in prom dresses!

did anyone think she was looking old in tonight's episode? Also needed to blend foundation into her neck better.

but she is still St Anthea to me!

MadameButterfly · 07/09/2006 21:10

Which one was 2manypimms?

I cried when the little girl sais "Mummy won't give me a big girl bedroom"

weirdbird · 08/09/2006 15:50

Gah

Forgot to watch it, isnt it repeated?

Anyone know when?

Rosylily · 08/09/2006 23:33

HILARIOUS my house is like the weasleys out of Harry Potter, except I can't do magic unfortunately. Anthea is the opposite of me in every way. When I see her its like watching an alien. All the folding of things looks like origami. I am contemplating a bit of a change, thats why I ventured over to good housekeeping. But Anthea is like doing a degree in housekeeping when I need to learn to read and write!

JackieNo · 09/09/2006 09:25

Rosylily - have you investigated the FLYlady threads? It's all about making very gradual changes (she calls them 'babysteps') and gradually getting into new habits of cleaning in short bursts. The threads are very active, so you should be able to spot them in Active Conversations, and the FLYLady website is here .

sorkycake · 09/09/2006 10:04

2manypimms was the lady who won, with the little girl.

Rosylily · 09/09/2006 11:52

Hi Jackieno my sis recommended it and I was on that very site this morning attempting to join! Not sure if I succeeded it all looked a bit confusing but good fun. So yes I will definately give it a go!

dewmeadow · 09/09/2006 15:08

Ooh I like the socks reunited boards. I think I will get the kids to make one for each of us as we have a major sock problem in this house.

Tried the t-shirt folding and I am converted, even DH was impressed. They use a lot of t-shirts for staff at his work so he might go in and fold them all , perhaps not!

Rosylily · 10/09/2006 23:02

I've been sleeping with one childs sock on my pillow all week. Anthea would have a field day with me. I could never go on her show!!!

Skribble · 10/09/2006 23:15

I have my odd sock sprawled accross a foot stool in the living room.....

oh and in a basket in my room....

oh and in a big black bag in the wardrobe...

and all over the floor etc etc...

Don't know if a little sock board would cope.

iota · 10/09/2006 23:23

why does anyone need a sock board?

I just put any odd socks away in the relevant person's drawer and wait for the partner to turn up after the next wash or so.

It has never been a problem (well not since I trained the boys to put used clothes in the washing basket instead of leaving them anywhere and everywhere)
