Feeling a bit like a failure today! I struggle with the every day stuff like keeping up with washing up, and laundry. Not brilliant at cooking either!Sad

I have been trying to do the baby steps for FlyLady but not sure It's working for me although some days I do the timer thing and that helps.
I have a toddler and an older dc, Not blaming them for the mess, I just find it all hard some days.

I think it's hard to keep the house tidy at the weekend cause everyone is home.
Our living room floor is covered with toys (mostly dd's). She takes things from one place to another all day long so the living room / dining room look trashed at the moment. The kitchen is o.k. till the washing up piles up!, the bathroom and bedrooms are not too bad either.
Just felt like I needed a moanSad
Feels like a loosing battle sometimes!
I also need to do major decluttering but I have ran out of steam today.
After dinner I am chilling out.

Autumn do you mean shredding as in 30 day shred exercise DVD or shredding old papers? I need to do both kinds Grin

AutumnHues · 03/10/2011 12:07

notso Paperwork shredding. I have drawers full so it will be an ongoing process! Also sorting old newspapers etc for recycling.(they tend to pile up on the welsh dresser till I sort them.)

Don't worry if you don't get all of today's jobs done, I often have something I didn't manage yesterday so it goes on today's list Wink

OP posts:
Shinyshoes1 · 03/10/2011 12:07

Notso can I have some of what you're on Wink

Autumn - I love shredding, ours is broken though so I must a new one.

I have done 2 jobs from my list the ironing being the main job which was done before DD came home from nursery so I'm rather chuffed.

I will potter doing the rest soon, DP and DC's are not home until 3.00pm so I have plenty of time Grin

Shinyshoes1 · 03/10/2011 12:51

I've added another job to my list. Washing !

put on a white wash and will hang it out when its done.

all that's left to do is

Hoover
polish
clean toilet floor
mop kitchen

pozzled · 03/10/2011 13:11

I'm impressed with what everyone has done this morning!

I'm struggling a bit, DD2 had her injections this morning and doesn't want to sleep. She looks as though she might drift off on the play mat but if not I may have to put her in the pushchair and walk around the block!

Today I have done:
2 loads of washing
Washing up

Still need to do:
Clean kitchen
Work out a meal list for the week
Shopping order
Change sheets
General tidy and hoover

pozzled · 03/10/2011 13:12

Argh, she's crying again, poor thing. It will have to be the pushchair!

notso · 03/10/2011 13:46

Drumroll please... I have cleaned the kitchen floor, huzah!
I am ridiculously pleased.

Ah shredding paper, I have a bag full of about four years worth of bank statements hangign on my cellar door!
Poor DD pozzled, hope the stroll sends her off.

Catch u tomorrow Autumn, have a good evening all of you Smile

BoffinMum · 03/10/2011 16:21

We're in the middle of a produce glut here. So I have made:

6 pear and chocolate sponges for freezer
6 pear crumbles for freezer
3 jars blackberry jam
3 jars plum jam
3 jars strawberry jam
8 jars grape jelly

Hot and knackered now, and the overloaded ironing basket is threatening to come to life like a B Movie monster. Shock Plus there are grapes all over the kitchen floor and my manicure is ruined, I tell you, ruined. ShockShock

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 03/10/2011 16:52

Please may I join? It sounds just the place for me. I tried FLYing and got so bogged down in just coming up with my daily list - that it made me feel like I'd failed before I'd started.

notso · 03/10/2011 16:56

Wow BoffinMum you have been busy. Pear and chocolate sponge sounds delish, please can I have the recipe? Have a billion pears from PIL allotment, and if you know anything nice to do to a courgette I will be eternally grateful!

pozzled blueberry pancakes are my good mummy breakfast, dead easy to make, DH and DC love them and I always feel good when I have made them.

This thread is brilliant, thanks all.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 03/10/2011 17:05

I have a some courgette recipes - you can put them in a Victoria sponge instead of butter/margarine - if that sounds the sort of thing you're after?

AutumnHues · 03/10/2011 18:21

Yes, you can join.Smile
Are you serious about the courgette in a sponge?Confused
Sorry,
I am feeling a bit stressed at the mo cause dd won't eat her food and she just keeps running round and round the table.
Does this sound normal for a 2 year old?
Also ds is dawdling over his homework and it's not even hard!Confused.
As for housework I don't think there is much chance of me getting much more done today so I might have to leave it till tomorrow.

BoffinMum · 03/10/2011 18:40

Autumnhues, those certainly sound like typical things my kids do Wink

Pear and chocolate sponge

Cut up random number of ripe pears (about 1.5 lbs), put in bottom of dish. Cream together 8 oz each of butter/marge and sugar. Gradually beat in three beaten eggs. Fold in 6 oz flour and 2 oz cocoa. Mix together gently. Pour sponge mix over pears and bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or so, until sponge is springy and pears are cooked. Serve with marscapone or cream.
