Feeling a bit like a failure today! I struggle with the every day stuff like keeping up with washing up, and laundry. Not brilliant at cooking either!Sad

I have been trying to do the baby steps for FlyLady but not sure It's working for me although some days I do the timer thing and that helps.
I have a toddler and an older dc, Not blaming them for the mess, I just find it all hard some days.

So far-
Sorted ds's nursery bag
Made dinner
Dishes
Load of washing on
Badgered dp to mow lawn (does that count?!)
Put laundry away

Unfortunately now have arse firmly planted on sofa Grin

AutumnHues · 27/09/2011 09:34

Morning all, I am still full of cold so I am not planing too much today.
I need to wash up/dry up, maybe go out to do any necessary food shopping.
Also hoping to get a shower if I can get dd to play happily in her bedroom.
I'm a bit cheesed off cause I can't hang my washing out. The neighbours are having work done on the outside of their house so it's a bit dusty and dirty out there.
Pozzled you sound very organized with your cards and presents!

Hi, can I join? Dd has chosen a screaming fit and sleep refusal for morning activity, so am staying in and will attempt some housework!
What annoys me about it is that it'll need doing again tomorrow!! [grumpy emoticon]

TheGrassIsJewelled · 27/09/2011 09:42

My ironing tip is do it in front of the telly. Slightly less boring, and you feel less guilty about just watching it...

AutumnHues · 27/09/2011 09:56

TheGrassIsJewelled Yes, the more the merrier!Smile
We can all try to keep each other motivated.
although I'm not much use today!

Pootles2010 · 27/09/2011 10:00

You mean people do ironing somewhere other than in front of the tv?

Hope you're feeling better soon Autumn, how rotten.

Imnotaslimjim · 27/09/2011 10:07

Gah, didn't get on here yesterday but did get a fair bit done. Now could someone please give me a kick up the bum, I'm supposed to be sorting the kitchen out and I'm mning instead! Quick coffee before I start I think!

TheGrassIsJewelled · 27/09/2011 10:42

Haha pootles, any of my tips will be seriously remedial!!
I have wm and dw on, will attempt to clear the mountain of doom that is the kitchen table when dd finally decides to nap...

Pootles2010 · 27/09/2011 11:01

Thank god for modern appliances hey. Can you imagine if we still had to wash clothes by hand, boil up water to wash etc?

Actually i think i'd just be very smelly.

AutumnHues · 27/09/2011 12:53

I am procrastinating MNetting. I need to do my washing up this afternoon or we may run out of cups/platesShock.

OP posts:
TheGrassIsJewelled · 27/09/2011 14:23

I need to clean kitchen surfaces and load dishwasher (again!), but a cup of tea and mumsnet takes priority! Freecycled some stuff and can nearly see kitchen table...

AutumnHues · 27/09/2011 20:51

Managed to do some of what I wanted today,
Have done:
Shower
2 lots of washing up
cooked dinner
Hanged washing on airer
May need to go shopping tomorrow as didn't go today.
I am going to see if I can do some washing up now so there is less to do tomorrow.
How did you all get on?

OP posts:
Pootles2010 · 28/09/2011 09:02

Gosh i hate cleaning the shower. Such a nightmare job!

Didn't do much housework as such last night - trying to get garden sorted whilst we have this lovely weather. So last night i sanded down most of a chair/table set we have, hopefully finish it off tonight.

Otherwise just made dinner, one load of washing /drying/ put away, and sorted out my towering pile of magazines/paperwork.

AutumnHues · 28/09/2011 09:13

Pootles I didn't clean the shower, I had a showerWink
You do right to make the most of this nice weather cause we will be lucky if it lastsHmm

OP posts:
Pootles2010 · 28/09/2011 09:32

Same as cleaning it innit?! Hot water, soap... same difference Grin

AutumnHues · 28/09/2011 10:04

Pootles Grin

I can't decide what to do first today, I know, I need to prize myself away from the computerWink. (Got sucked into MumsNet land again!)

Here are my options:
Wash up/dry up

sort stuff for charity shop then go out visiting charity shop on way (remembering not to buy more stuff to fill the house with)Hmm.

sort newspapers and other recycling stuff and go to recycling bins therefore creating a bit more space in house.

sort and shred paperwork.

Cast your votes now!

What have you all got planned?

OP posts:
AutumnHues · 28/09/2011 10:24

I think I will sort some things for charity shop and go out, then do some washing up when I return.
Enjoy the sunshine if you are out and about!Grin

Morning ladies.

Today I have hoovered the living room , although you wouldn't believe it to look at it.
Hung washing out.
loaded dishwasher
cleaned kitchen sides

Today I need to finish the ironing before I end up with a massive pile again that I can't be arsed to do.
Clean the toilet floor and bathroom floor
The baby (she's 3) is off to a party this afternoon so I have about and hour or so. I think I will do it then while watching The Kardashians something interesting i've recorded, then i'll have time for a quick bath before I have to go pick her up at 2.45pm.

I think that's my lot for today, I really need to start a major declutter I think I shall wait til next week though when ALL children are at school (will have lost baby for the mornings at nursery)

pozzled · 28/09/2011 12:42

Well I didn't manage to get much done yesterday, but I did order a huge online shop which has just done, and sorted some financial stuff I should have done weeks ago.

Today I have done:

Washing up and cleaned kitchen
Load of washing

Need to do:

Hang washing out
Put away clean washing (it's piling up and threatening to take over the house)
Put away shopping- have only done cold stuff so far
Hoover
Some ironing

Hopefully collect DD1 a bit early from nursery so we can go to the park- that's my motivation to get moving.

AutumnHues · 28/09/2011 15:16

I managed to sort some clothes for charity and took to charity shop.
Still haven't got round to washing up but will do some later.

OP posts:
notso · 28/09/2011 15:36

Can I join you please?
I have been struggling since 9 month old DC3 was born, and I fear it's going to get a whole lot worse as I have just found out I am pg with DC4!
Out of a massive list today I have managed to,
hoover behind the sofas,
wash DD's bedsheets,
find DH's bank book,
sort out old magazines from under the coffee table
watch all my recorded Come Dine With Me's!

AutumnHues · 28/09/2011 16:04

Hi notso yes.Smile You sound like you have your hands full.
I must go and wash up and do dinner in a minute.

OP posts:
pozzled · 28/09/2011 16:36

Well done for getting to the charity shop AutumnHues. I must get round to that soon, I have loads of stuff to get rid of.

I've hung the washing out and put the shopping away.
I put some of the clothes away but then DD2's chest of drawers fell apart, so I had to take half an hour with a screwdriver to get that sorted! Really could have done without that.

Oh well, on to the next thing- as long as I can put DD2 down without her screaming, she's just fallen asleep on me!

AutumnHues · 29/09/2011 06:51

Morning all, I am up early today. Off to have breakfast in a minute.
Today I am hoping to tidy the mess that is the kitchen Blush.

hiya everyone :) i've been looking on here on and off for the last couple of days and admire some of your upkeep of the housework. The time has come for me to join in. I have some family coming over tomorrow evening so the house needs a good clean, and tomorrow i am going to be rather busy picking up my gran and doing the cooking so i think the best plan is to do the majority of the cleanimg today. So here is my list for today:

  • hoover all rooms
  • polish and dust downstairs
  • wipe skirtings downstairs
  • clear toys from downstairs lounge to kids bedrooms
  • clean main bathroom from top to bottom
  • clean downstairs loo

firstly, i need to get everyone going this morning, washed, breakfast'd, eldest off to school, and youngest off to nursury. Also need to get through some washing today. Best get started! Will be back later.
