And they've been. That'll teach me to live in a pigsty. Blush

It's all the stuff we've got though. The cleaning takes a couple of minutes, it's the tidying and sorting and moving piles of crap around that takes all the time, and energy.
We don't have totally appropriate storage either, but we're not going to buy anything when we know we're moving, so I've just got piles and bags of stuff.

I've been reading a lot about minimalism Grin and I've been decluttering lots, so hopefully when we move back into the bigger house we can put things away.
I've got hardly any ornaments left, so that should help with the dusting.

Honestly, I just want to chuck everything away and live in a campervan.

JustKeepSwimming · 28/04/2011 18:44

Wasting - we have too much stuff too - and atm all that seems to be happening is an inflow of more stuff (clothes, toys, etc). When does stuff start going the other way?!?

DS1 home, feeling very fragile and nervous about being moved. DH i/c lifting him for everything which isn't great as DH has a bad back. But i'm not meant to do any heavy lifting with my stitches. Really wish he could have picked a better time to do this!!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 28/04/2011 22:36

JKS - poor little chap :( How much longer is DH off work?

I so sympathise with the stuff! We've had a huge influx since DS2 - presents for him and presents for DS1, all the baby stuff back out of the garage, new clothes etc for me, it's a nightmare.
I really want to have a huge sort out, but there just isn't time at the moment.

Did have quite a good day yesterday, the street party was far too busy for pram & wheelchair so we didn't stay long. DS1 was up in the night crying a lot, which set me off :(

Francesca come on in, I go in fits and starts but I must say from joining here my house is abit more organised, even though I am avoiding my nice neat ironing piles that I WILL put away today!

CC Angry was it during the night, hope you are ok, I know it was just your lock but when our door got kicked in it really shook me up

Hugs JKS, the broken leg is bad timimg, just try and enjoy dd as she won't be this little for long and the broken leg a distant memory

I must say I loved the Wedding yesterday,
although we must be having far better weather here because the sun was out the whole day and today again,

although I feel like I could sleep now so going for a lie down under dhs orders, but I feel so guilty he is such a hard worker and I just potter about, and he tells me to go and sleepHmm

JustKeepSwimming · 30/04/2011 20:34

Plum - I was saying similar to DH about enjoying DD. With DS1 we didn't know how fast time flew by, with DS2 we didn't have much time as DS1 was only small too. This time, with the boys at school a lot of the time (in theory, ha!) I was hoping to get lots of baby time to sit and enjoy :)

Right some kind of list, for the next few days:

  • feed DD lots again DONE
  • present for friend's DS DONE
  • sort DS1's clothes; Started
  • sort DS2's clothes

Laundry
Tidy pigstyutility room and clean m/wave

Hoover out car and wash outside.
Tidy playroom.

I know there's more but that's all I can bear to think about right now!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 01/05/2011 11:49

Hello everyone :)

We are getting stuff done, I'm just not managing to make very good lists!!

JKS - hope you had a better night with DS1. I thought of you when I was feeding T at 5am.
On one thread or another, I saw you say that you and DH weren't agreeing on much. We could be conducting a masterclass in how not to communicate effectively at the moment and we are all shouty and horrid - largely because we're both tired out and feeling overwhelmed - so goodness knows how you two are feeling. It will sort itself out. We found time for a quick snog this morning which has improved the mood Grin

TODAY
Laundry
Possibly BBQ?
Try and do some sorting out
Plan meals for next week and book Waitrose for next Friday
Decide what I want for my birthday

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 01/05/2011 12:01

Ah thanks Ali - think a cuddle would definitely help matters. At least we've been here before (baby part at least!) so know we'll get through. And DD slept really well last night. She fed at roughly 10, 2 & 4.30, then slept til 8. DS1 woke about 11 crying but i managed to let Dh get on with it without a sob-fest from me too!

Sunshine helps too - though i'm struggling to get dressed every day as nothing fits - have enough 'big' trousers but my boobs are the biggest they've ever been and no bras or tops fit properly Shock have ordered some bigger bf bras, but may have to buy even bigger tops than my 'big' ones i've already got.

Sunday:

  • slow lazy start to the day DONE
  • papers & crosswords if I get a chance
  • breakfast & tidy up DH DONE
  • continue with clothes sorting
(- sort DS1's clothes;

The clothes thing is a nightmare. My trousers are all too big! Jeans fit, but are too warm atm. Tops some fit, but my boobs are massive atm too and I'm reluctant to buy much because they will settle down in another month or so I expect.

Can you get away with just a feeding vest and trousers at home and save what fits for going out in?

Congrats Mini & tell HMHB we said hello, hows her 2?

JKS & Ali, can you not get a few of the t-shirt type tops out of Tesco or somewhere usually 2 for £6 or something like that until you both settle down,

JKS I think the first few weeks with a new baby and other children, sometimes dhs forget that they need to pull their weight a wee bit more with the others,
we expect them to realise, they get defensive when we suggest things they could be doing and it all gets abit fustrating,

I brought dcs to kids club at cinema today and then to park, although I think half of Belfast was also at park so found a quiet spot and rolled down hills insteadGrin

So tonight I intend on putting away remaining washing and I have decided to rearrange the girls clothes so will spend the day tomorrow trying to improve everything and getting ready for back to school on Tues

JustKeepSwimming · 01/05/2011 20:22

Plum - i probably will go that way, i have some George t-shirts from last time that say 'large' but are really unflattering to wear/boring too.
Will have to see if i see anything suitable when i go into town, maybe wednesday.

Didn't get much done today, DD decided to play velcro baby this afternoon/evening.

Hi Plum, HMHBs 2 dcs are growing fast DS is ing very grown up now and 'baby' is now running around and at the 'mine' 'no' stage, and giving her brother a run for his money. They are very funny together. New DGD ( not HMHBs - DD2)was delivered c section 7lb 1oz. is just learning how to feed and has lost a bit of weight. I am sure she will soon make up.

I returned home to find DH flat out having 'done' his back. His gums are on the mend though. Thank god. Will this man ever mend. SIGH.
