Wasting - yes quite! DS1 has discovered the joys of Shrek/Toy Story recently. Brilliant if I need a quiet hour!
DS1 loved my birth ball too!

DH has gone out to do a Boot Camp, which as far as I can establish is basically army fitness drill Hmm I am really pleased he is doing some exercise, but I fear he may have jumped in the deep end a bit!

In the end I have got loads done today, house looks loads better and I feel like I can think straight. I've been feeling a bit wobbly for a few days in a PNDish kind of way, so I think maybe a book and a bath with some Wine is in order later once DH is home.

Oh crap, I'm still not back in the habit of listing. Currently it's a scrap of paper stuck to the fridge!!!! Help!!!!

Anyway, Freaki - all the best with the job, and the place looks drop dead fantastic!

I just know I'm about to be ill - have got a hard swollen lump behind my ear.... could just so do without it. Back to school germs now working their way home.

Tomorrow I WILL do a list. I WILL.

Today I have:

  • cooked at school
  • helped with swimming at school
  • cycled with the dog
  • oven prided my oven trays
  • taken DD to a party (off to collect in a mo....)
  • finally cleared the kitchen table as a special surprise for DH (!) Isn't it odd effing weird what little things give us (him) pleasure?!
JKSLtd · 22/09/2011 18:37

Anon - small jobs round the house often give DH a boost too, and luckily for me he's a very enthusiastic 'praiser' so i get to feel domestic goddess like, lol.

Ali - hope the pndish feelings stay away. I often find myself over-reacting emotionally to things, even now a few months in, mostly when DD won't settle for a nap or in the evenings when she just feeds for hours. Since DS2's interesting medical times when i went on ADs i have tried to accept that i may be one of those people who is prone to depression and try and keep on top of things/thoughts/talk to DH/etc.

JKS - he marvelled at the cleared table. Even celebrated by placing an attractive bowl on it, just to complete the look... didn't get too much enthusiastic praise as such Hmm

Afternoon! I think I definitely had some sort of PND going on with DS, but I was so sleep-deprived it was hard to tell.
I think I get anxiety more than straight depression too which is less recognised, but as it's a regular part of my personality I don't think anyone would have particularly noticed!

  • take rubbish and recycling
  • hang washing out
  • wash pots
  • sweep and mop!
  • book taxis
  • post letter
  • look at hospital bags and repack
JKSLtd · 23/09/2011 16:08

Have had a busy, in a good way day, but not been at home much so not much done.

Coffee morning at DS2's SN sch this morning, they were all lovely and chatty and I'll definitely go again. Makes me a bit :( as still struggling with the parents at DS1's school (trying not to harp on about it but still makes me upset about the lack of present for DD) but at least I have a PTA that I can get involved with :)

Anyone with older DC, DS1 has had 2 spelling tests so far (Y1), got 1/6 both times :( I know he's slower to read & write than lots of them and don't get on well enough with anyone to ask how their kids are doing, but really is this doing him any good at all? Esp when sometimes he's spelt the word right but written the letters wrong (eg 'do' he wrote 'bo' but i know he meant 'do'). What do you think? Not that i'm going to say anything to school, yet.

DONE:

  • sch runs
  • PTA morning
  • home for lunch
  • friends to see new house
  • library
  • collect DS1
  • reading & check bag
  • DS2 home & check bag

  • get cat flap repaired pre-winter
Alibabaandthe80nappies · 23/09/2011 21:24

JKS - that doesn't seem terribly helpful - can they not give him some which are a bit easier to encourage him? Have you got an alphabet chart up anywhere at home so that he gets really familiar with all the letters?
How horrid that the Mums aren't nice :(

Quite a good day here in the end. I feel that things are more under control.

Ali - I like that 'under control' feeling :)

Tbh the whole mums at sch thing is one of the things i think i'm emotionally over-reacting to. I can't get my head around them excluding me/DD in such an obvious way (given that it's normal to do a collection for new babies/weddings/etc) and I can't get past it when i'm talking to them. So i tend not to and just keep to myself. Which of course is helping me get to know them better...Hmm

DONE:

  • sch runs

  • home for lunch
  • friends to see new house
  • library
  • collect DS1
  • reading & check bag
  • DS2 home & check bag

  • dinner & tv & bed bed soon

Sat:

  • find all library books in the house!
  • poss PO with niece's card
  • laundry & ironing
  • other stuff?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 24/09/2011 10:32

JKS - very honest of you about the walk, that is often the reason things don't happen in our house!! Grin
The school mums thing is just so playground. I cannot get over grown women being so deliberately hurtful.
We have got a coffee morning coming up at DS1's preschool which I must make myself go to. I don't know any of the Mums there, none of them are people I've come across at any toddler groups/classes or anything. I've also expressed an interest in joining the PTA - largely because I'm nosy and like to know what's going on Grin

The in-controlness had extended to this morning! Some jobs done already, DS2 is having a nap, DS1 is playing with his lego zoo, DH is outside cleaning the cars and I'm having a cuppa and slouching on here. Lovely.

JKS dd is also in year one and hasnt had any spelling tests yet. Many of the children in her class can't even read properly yet so not sure how they'd do spellings! FWIW dd is a very advanced reader but her letter formation is shit and her spelling is interesting to say the least.

That's crap about the other mums not acknowledging dd's birth Sad

Going to ikea on weds Grin Although as I am going with my mother I'm still not convinced it is going to happen...

JKSLtd · 24/09/2011 11:58

Ali - good going this morning :)

Freak - can you not just go on your own if she pulls out? Though I quite like having some company to wander about with.

Boys out at Dad's Club, DD napping, wm on, dw on, Brew & catching up on MN & Top Model programme :)

Spoke to the one mum who independently gave DD a present about the spelling tests, she's more relaxed (it's her 2nd child going through the school) and her DS is only getting the first letter in each word so i must try to chill about it, esp as DS1 is not seeming to get upset about it (yet).

Sat:

  • DH & DS1 to a football match
  • find all library books in the house! Started
  • poss PO with niece's card
  • laundry wm on & ironing

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/09/2011 12:16

JKS I need her car to get the stuff home! So can't really complain, it's just that her letting me down when we have plans is a recurrent theme.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 24/09/2011 23:08

We have got loads done today, and all is still calm and in control. DH spent 4 hours cleaning the cars, which to me seems excessive but he pointed out that if any area of the house was as mucky as my car then I would be freaking out. He is right Blush

Parents coming tomorrow but not until about 5pm and then staying over, so we get our day chilling out before they come which is quite nice.

Freak - do you go to the Bristol one? That used to be our nearest (we are in Hampshire!!) before they opened Southampton.
I love Ikea - am slightly embarrassed to say that it is one of the 15 or so words that DS1 recognises. He calls it 'the fish and chip shop', because we often eat there when we go and he has the fish and chips! Grin

Ali - love it!

Freak- hope she doesn't pull out this time then!

I go to the Lakeside one, not that I go very often. Always intend to go into Lakeside afterwards but tend to run out of energy before that happens.

Today has been good, rearranged boys bedroom, think it's better but not ideal, may see how it works for a few days.

Mon:

  • PO
  • Library
  • Ocado (11-12)
  • school runs
  • email shower dispenser people as bits missing from new dispenser
  • DC tea, bath & bed
  • walk round block?
  • anything else?

  • get cat flap repaired pre-winter
JKSLtd · 25/09/2011 20:29

Ali - you changed from Ocado to Waitrose didn't you?
Our reduced delivery pass runs out in Oct so was wondering if we'd change.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 25/09/2011 23:27

JKS we did change, it got really annoying because they kept swapping waitrose things I had ordered, with ocado own brand things which were not as nice, and sometimes more expensive.
I love waitrose Grin
