I want to do a feature wall with this William Morris paper.

What colour paint would you put on the other walls?

I like colour!

If you try the dulux visualiser app then you can take a photo of your room and try out different colours to see what works. If you have a sample of the paper then it will also tell you what shades go with it.

I think a yellow could work, if you like yellow?

I never would have thought of yellow, but these are great!

Gah, that should say "I am entirely uninterested in whether people think it's tacky"

Out of interest where was it £60 a roll ? I have the same paper in another colour and mine was almost double that ! I think I may need an extra roll.

orangewasp · 12/03/2025 15:26

OP, ignore all the rude posters trying to impose their taste (which will also be snobbily looked down on in the not too distant future) on you. I really like feature walls - go for it!

Baninarama · 12/03/2025 15:38

I'd go for the orange or the dark green, depending on what the light's like in the room and also how you want the room to feel (cosy or energising, for want of better words!).

A feature wall is great - that pattern's too much for an entire space.

Baninarama · 12/03/2025 15:38

*Although it's a lovely pattern :)

Dunelm have it for £60 a roll, and some other places too (B&Q I think?)

But I got it from Home of Interiors as they have it on sale for £48 a roll.

However they messaged me after I ordered it to say they're waiting for stock to come in so they won't be able to send it out till the end of the month. But that's fine by me, I've not started prepping the room yet.

William Morris is trend-proof and never tacky. (I know OP doesn't care what I think is tacky.) I loved it even when "busy" wallpaper was out of fashion in the early noughties, ironically during the craze for the now-derided feature wall - which was all about solid paint colours anyway.

Another vote for the navy.

Cotswoldmama · 12/03/2025 16:12

I'd go navy to match the background colour. I like dark rooms, I think they feel cosier and more homely.

And another 3 in red, orange and blue.

Either sage green or a paler shade of orange.

Griffyn · 12/03/2025 16:33

This paper is lovely- we almost chose it for our (south facing) bedroom!

We 'matched' it up against loads of colours in the shop and decided it went best with navy.

TeaRoseTallulah · 12/03/2025 16:35

At first glance I thought Dulux Overtly Olive but the navy is stunning.

Augustbub · 12/03/2025 16:41

The yellow or the orange for sure :)

I was coming on to say definitely the navy, but the first yellow ( mustard ? ) is stunning .
Another feature wall aficionado here …..

RedRiverShore5 · 12/03/2025 16:52

I would probably go for a lighter colour, probably the peachy colour depends really on your preference for light or dark, navy sounds nice though if you like dark

I also have a feature William Morris wall, I thought it was much too expensive and busy to do the whole room, though you did manage to get a bargain with the paper, I'm sure mine was about £80 (tulips one) and that was with a bit off.

Pokemum24 · 12/03/2025 17:02

Terracotta

BunnyLake · 12/03/2025 17:13

I would go for the dark blue. My friend has a feature wall, it’s more a whole wall mural and it’s gorgeous. Decorate for you not for MN.

SnoopysHoose · 12/03/2025 17:14

@MoodEnhancer
Did OP ask for your opinion on feature walls being tacky? nope

SpottyBumPony · 12/03/2025 18:21

I'd match the orange of the fruit. I like boldness!

PTSDBarbiegirl · 12/03/2025 18:23

Navy blue or the beige of the stalks. Not green or rust.

Happyhelping · 12/03/2025 18:29

OP I love this as a feature wall. Far too busy for the whole space. I’d do a taupe/pinkish colour which would look really cute with this.

Happyhelping · 12/03/2025 18:30

Also like the other idea of going bright!!! It entirely depends on what you want 🙂 I think it’s going to look fabulous and I want to see what you decide!!!

Canonicalhours · 12/03/2025 18:37

The sage green 100%.

LostMyLanyard · 12/03/2025 18:39

Oh wow! I would NEVER have said yellow/ochre but the first one that @Offcom has posted is just gorgeous!! 💖
