What else can I do to this room?

I’ve reclaimed the living room. This is going to be my yoga room & my space for peace and quiet.

What else can I add to it to make it more cosy?

Maybe a rug? I want to buy some cushions but I don’t want them to clash with the hypothetical rug. A throw perhaps?

I have a max budget of £150. Please help!!

I would add a sisal rug, some plants and some cushions.

happytobemrsg · 07/01/2023 13:57

@ifIwerenotanandroid 😂 the rug I’ve ordered should be ok. It’s not particularly squishy & I find my mat quite narrow so it’ll be nice to not bang my head on the floor when I lay back!

The clock is rose gold - as is a couple of photo frames & my floor lamp. It also matches my sound wave picture. I’m going to add lots of greens I think (my favourite colour) which I think will go nicely the rose gold & grey.

It’s very difficult finding artwork I must admit. I see things I like but they all seem to be portrait rather than landscape

Remove that clock and add some plants and cushions.

IceStationStallion · 07/01/2023 14:01

Add a floating shelf above the fire.

I like your room, I don't think it needs other colours particularly apart from green from plants. I find these colours really calming too

Can anyone help. What is wrong with my lounge. Just had oak floor done but everything seems bland . Grey leather sofa and silver chenille curtains 3 bay windows in lounge

@Holmfirthrita - with dark sofas I would be looking at lighter rug and lighter cushions. Both not grey. Add plants

Holmfirthrita · 10/01/2023 13:38

I have some check cushions . Do they look better and I could get a lighter rug maybe a natural .

Plants.

slamwich · 10/01/2023 14:09

You need plants. Mine is a similar choice of colours but I've got lots of plants which stop it being too grey

Like the idea of plants . Should I get rid of the check cushions and go for lighter ones . Also does the mustard look ok or suggestions please. Really at a loss .

slamwich · 10/01/2023 15:54

I like lighter but then I'm biased as it's what I've done. The plants will make a big difference

Holmfirthrita · 10/01/2023 16:09

Like your room very much it looks so much brighter . Can I ask what size your cushions are I have seen a stone colour in next in velvet which looks a bit like yours but unsure on size thx

mathanxiety · 10/01/2023 16:42

Portrait would be perfect for artwork on tbe chimney breast.

slamwich · 10/01/2023 16:49

Thank you. My cushions are all Matalan. They are in the sale at the moment. Kind of textured velvet

slamwich · 10/01/2023 16:52

They are 46 x 46

Holmfirthrita · 10/01/2023 17:00

Brilliant thank you are they grey or like a cream/ stone colour x

slamwich · 10/01/2023 18:02

Stone. I've got a few grey ones in the mix too, and stone coloured throws.

Holmfirthrita · 10/01/2023 18:15

They look really good and bright it has given me inspiration. Would you remove the mustard completely?

slamwich · 10/01/2023 20:12

I think I would yes. Could you use them in another room?

Holmfirthrita · 10/01/2023 21:01

Not really but I think I might try some plain stone with the checked grey and keep it neutral. I may use the mustard in the spare room . Would you keep the grey rug or change to a natural colour . I am so grateful for your comments

slamwich · 10/01/2023 21:04

Keep it for the time being. One change at a time

Holmfirthrita · 10/01/2023 21:28

Thanks. Last thing would you mix the check with the neutral plain ? They are a paler grey with cream . You have been so helpful x

happytobemrsg · 10/01/2023 23:09

I’ve ended up going for a portrait instead of a landscape @mathanxiety you’re right, I think it does look better than landscape.

Room is starting to come together. Have added a couple of (artificial) plants, some cushions, a new picture above the fireplace & removed the clock. I’m waiting for the rug to hopefully arrive sometime this week. I’ve also added a few books to the shelves. There’s a lot more pattern & texture now. I’d like to add some more colour (I’ve chosen green) somehow. Will also buy a new tv stand eventually.
