Lost passport, HELP!!

I have read so many threads on here about lost passports, but I’m just at a loss as to what to do.
I’m due to go on our belated honeymoon to Thailand on Thursday, but cannot find my passport.

I have spent the whole of yesterday and today looking, even got my parents round to help as a fresh pair of eyes.
I have looked EVERYWHERE, every bag, coat, drawer (drawers pulled all the way out and the underneaths etc checked) in every single cupboard and drawer, under the microwave, washing machine etc.

I last had it about a month ago as we went to Venice for 2 nights, took a 15 minute taxi from the airport to home, have called the airport and taxi and nothing has been handed in. All I can think is that I must have thrown it out!!

I need a 7 day fast track appointment (will of course miss my flight, but some honeymoon is better than none), but worried about the strikes happening from tomorrow.

Has anyone got any recent experience of going to the passport office for an immediate passport?

I’m sick to my stomach 😩

I was the same about a cheque, looked everywhere. Had to finally give up and lose the money.
Years later when moving house I found it behind the washing machine. Washing machine was underneath the worktop and I'd obviously placed the cheque on the top of the washing machine in the little gap. Idiot!

Final thoughts. Bookshelves - could it have slipped between books or magazines? Doormat (under)? Rugs (ditto)? Every single pile of paper in the house (quantity may vary, this would take far too long in our house)?

Do you have pets that you boarded whilst you were in Venice? If so could your passport be caught up with their vaccination cards/ receipts/in their carriers etc

When you arrived back from Venice did you use the passport machine gate or was it a booth? Once through passport control where would you put your passport - I always give to my DH for safe keeping - do you guys have a routine like this. Where would you put your passport so it's not in your hand?

Thank you for all your suggestion, flew with ryanair and the bag I took has been checked by me, my husband & parents, no sign. Same as the clothes I wore.

my husbands passport (who I went to Venice with) is exactly where I would expect mine to have been, in a top drawer - although I do have a recollection of taking it out to test out whether to take a document holder for Thailand. Have found the document holder and it isn’t in there. Have taken out every single drawer where my husbands passport was found and checked the underneath/above/behind and nothing.

my SIL is going to come round tomorrow to try and have a look, keep your fingers crossed for me 😩

It hasn't fallen out of the back of the drawer has it (so in the cavity of the drawer space and not actually in the drawer)?

Did you use it to book the tickets / fill out a visa? If so, where did you sit to make the booking? Did you have a brochure or other documents at the time?

Is it in your car? I lost DD’s passport and had to rush through another one as she needed it to register for university. A week after it had arrived I found the old one in the boot of the car.

the things I’d find in there 🤦🏼‍♀️. I got to a point of just going straight to look in there when I couldn’t find anything 🤣

Check the lining of all pockets and bags, I recently found my sons lost Apple Watch as the lining of his coat had torn, he'd checked his pockets but hadn't realised there was a tear. The watch had slid all the way down to the hem of the coat.

Have you checked inside shoes/boots

I know you've taken drawers out but is it jammed to the top of the cabinet

Old bags/rucksacks/gym bags in the garage/loft

Packed away with the Christmas stuff

Down the side/back of oven/fridge/dishwasher/washing machine

Pockets of clothes you haven't needed for a while eg shorts

Airing cupboard between towels and bedding

In a book used as a bookmark

Behind kitchen kick boards

Have you boxed up anything? Toy/appliance/jigsaw/greeting cards

Have you got any children's toys it could be in... I found a lost bank card once in the boot of a toy car. Also if you have a loft with Christmas decorations ect check that.

If you think you could have thrown it away, have you tried contacting your local refuse service? General rubbish it probably wouldn't be found but recycling is sorted so might have turned up?

Have you checked under heavier stuff like wardrobes?

Hi all, been looking through all your suggestions and been have done basically everything suggested. Will do it all again today once SIL arrives, I’m meant to be working today by I have a very kind manager who I spoke to in tears this morning and he said do what you have to do!!

the problem with the document wallet is that it’s such a vague memory that I could have done this about 6 months ago for a different holiday and really just not sure!

I methodically took the rooms apart one by one, including looking in clothes, towels like you all suggested and unfortunately nothing.

I also just rang my local airport and the local tax firms and the town hall and nothing - which makes me think it must have made it home. But I have honestly looked EVERYWHERE. have followed all your suggestions, plus read loads of other forums for ideas. Meditated, hoped it would come to me in a dream the last couple nights and nothing!!!

currently sat refreshing the fast track appointment service webpage in the hopes they come up, as the lady at the passport office I spoke to this morning said they should still be coming up.

if not, although my flight is Thursday, today is my deadline to reschedule as I get 72 hours (9:15pm tonight) so will need to make a decision as to what to do very soon 😭

What did you do in regards to the flight? Have you postponed/cancelled it? Please keep us updated - I’m too invested in this!

Morning all, sorry for the lack of response yesterday evening, I know how invested some of you are!

Yesterday was a VERY stressful day, unfortunately I didn't find my passport - please believe me when I say I looked bloody everywhere, every single suggestion you made, I looked! I know this is an unsatisfying end, if I ever find my passport in years to come (hope I don't!) I will let you know where it was found.

So here is the update as it stands, I managed to get an appointment in Belfast Thursday morning for a 7 day express passport (I'm in Bournemouth...), so am flying to Belfast Wednesday night, staying over and heading to the appointment and flying home that evening.

Flights to Thailand have been rescheduled to Thursday next week (£880 later...) - have spoken to 3 different people at the passport office over they phone and they GUARANTEE my passport will be here in my hand latest Wednesday next week. I asked whether the bank holidays or strikes will affect this and they assured me it won't! I won't feel okay until the passport is in my hand though!

In terms of the Thailand holiday, we moved both sets of flights, so will still be there 3 weeks, but we are keeping all the hotels we booked the same, so effectively doing the 'end' of our holiday and the start now, and now need to figure out the plan for the last week that now has no bookings etc.

Very stressful and costly life lesson, everyone, DO NOT LOSE YOUR PASSPORT A WEEK BEFORE HONEYMOON 😅
