Lost passport, HELP!!

I have read so many threads on here about lost passports, but I’m just at a loss as to what to do.
I’m due to go on our belated honeymoon to Thailand on Thursday, but cannot find my passport.

I have spent the whole of yesterday and today looking, even got my parents round to help as a fresh pair of eyes.
I have looked EVERYWHERE, every bag, coat, drawer (drawers pulled all the way out and the underneaths etc checked) in every single cupboard and drawer, under the microwave, washing machine etc.

I last had it about a month ago as we went to Venice for 2 nights, took a 15 minute taxi from the airport to home, have called the airport and taxi and nothing has been handed in. All I can think is that I must have thrown it out!!

I need a 7 day fast track appointment (will of course miss my flight, but some honeymoon is better than none), but worried about the strikes happening from tomorrow.

Has anyone got any recent experience of going to the passport office for an immediate passport?

I’m sick to my stomach 😩

Yay! So pleased you got it in time. Just don’t drop it in the airport loo on arrival (just before passport control) like I once did to a brand new passport 😳 Safe and happy travels!

Yayyy! And I didn't want to say before, but I had to cancel a holiday last year because TNT lost my urgent replacement passport, and if it's lost by TNT then it counts as an "internal loss" by the passport office & you have to go through a special team to replace it, which takes longer!! So very pleased you don't need that. Thailand is one of the most brilliant places in the world, got back a couple of months ago and planning my next trip. Do you have a Thailand thread so we can all vicariously travel?

Glad you are going. Have an amazing time.

Top tip - do not leave your passport on top of the glass counter at the airport coffee shop with your boarding pass on top of it so that it can't be seen.

I definitely didn't do this before a big family holiday

Yay! Mine was under my Nanny’s clock, I’d popped it under its big base when dashing out the door one day with my Euro’s so they weren’t on display. Fortunately they turned up in time to go on holiday.

I have experience of getting a same day passport: secure fast track appointment online, pay the fee, go to appointment with all the paperwork. Then go back at the allotted time (same day) to collect. My collection time was 5 hours after the appointment. Good luck!

I gather that at the moment there are just no appts for that

CarbsAreNotMyFriend · 13/04/2023 22:26

Yippee! Enjoy 🥳

Great news @bcalice.

You realise your original will be sitting on your bedside table when you get home? 🤣
