Lost passport, HELP!!

I have read so many threads on here about lost passports, but I’m just at a loss as to what to do.
I’m due to go on our belated honeymoon to Thailand on Thursday, but cannot find my passport.

I have spent the whole of yesterday and today looking, even got my parents round to help as a fresh pair of eyes.
I have looked EVERYWHERE, every bag, coat, drawer (drawers pulled all the way out and the underneaths etc checked) in every single cupboard and drawer, under the microwave, washing machine etc.

I last had it about a month ago as we went to Venice for 2 nights, took a 15 minute taxi from the airport to home, have called the airport and taxi and nothing has been handed in. All I can think is that I must have thrown it out!!

I need a 7 day fast track appointment (will of course miss my flight, but some honeymoon is better than none), but worried about the strikes happening from tomorrow.

Has anyone got any recent experience of going to the passport office for an immediate passport?

I’m sick to my stomach 😩

I've misplace my passport on 2 occasions -

1. It was inside a toiletry bad I only ever use for travelling
2. It was in an inside pocket in a travel case that I didn't even know existed, let alone remember putting it in.

How stressful. I hope you manage to find it. I lost my passport the night before I was meant to fly to Thailand (ironic) - turns out it was hidden in the wardrobe underneath all the clothes. Only discovered it as wanted a shower then somehow folded it up in the towels and forgot when I put it away. Hope you find it soon 💐

It was just before the pandemic and during school holidays.

I found mu passport down the side of the sofa under the lining. No idea how it got there.

If all these stories emphasise anything it is that it is definitely in the house somewhere.

My suggestion for when you are looking is assume nothing - it is so easy to overlook something because you have a particular 'picture' in your head of what it looks like, you can look at it repeatedly but not see it if it doesn't look like your mental image. Equally don't rule out any locations as being improbable, like the understairs cupboard, or that awkward space where you stuff spare shoes. Hopefully your SILs fresh eyes will help overcome some of those biases.

My DD lost her PP.Searched her room out ,our room ,basically everywhere! Found in an evening bag of hers! Had taken it out to prove ID at a night out! My friend lost hers and found it in the extension ,on top of the freezer out there!

I found mine 18 months after I got a new one because I lost it 🤣🤦‍♀️

I'd also checked EVERYWHERE. all the places it could and should or would have been.

All the places I thought it would never be!

All the places inbetween. Can't remember where it turned up but it was definitely in a "should have been" place.

Found my dds passport in the glove box of the car - because it was facedown it just blended into the background.

Empty rooms 1 item at a time and put it back. Check in the lining of everything, even if you don't think it's been used. Down the back of every bit of furniture. Where was your OHs passport ?

Pockets, pockets, always pockets. Any chance you haven’t checked clothes you might have been wearing the day you tried the document wallet?

Root through your bins incase you threw it out recently.

That's what I was thinking. I've left mine in my suitcase before now.

BTW I bought the A5 sized clear plastic folders from Wilkos and use a pink one for our passports - we havent misplaced one for years now, but we went through a spate of losing them previously 🙄

I lost my marriage certificate 20 years ago and it was tucked inside a book that I’d been reading at the time.

I once found a passport bowling merrily down an alleyway between shops. I drove over to the address (a couple of miles away) to find a frantic chap up to his elbows in his recycling bin with newspapers and food packets swirling round his garden in the wind.

Neither of us had a plausible idea of how it had got where it was found, except ‘maybe I put it on the car roof and drove off?’

More helpfully:
DH’s has twice been in the backpack that he’d already thoroughly searched.
DD’s had slipped into a suitcase lining.

When you tried the document holder, did you put anything else in it as well? If so, where are those items?

Have you got paper copies of insurance, flight or hotel confirmations? Have you put it with those?

Have you used it to add details to a flight booking? Could it be around the laptop / PC that was used?

Did you pick out any items that you want to take with you and you might have put the passport with them? Summery things like - swimsuit, sun lotion, sandals etc?

Have you checked underneath rugs or mats?

How about at work? I once found a very important document of mine in my work pedestal! And sorry if you have already mentioned but if you have a scanner at home, could it be on the glass?

Check the floor under your desk and also under the bed

I think you are going to find it today. Put all clothing worn this month on your bed. Check in between each item. Include pyjamas, underwear, tops, trousers, remove all from the drawers.

Also check the whole car.

You will find it today.

And when you booked your Thailand flight, where were you and did you have to take your passport out for your passport number? If so, could your passport be at that location?

I lost my passport years ago and it appeared with the Christmas decorations. No idea how it got there but worth a look.

Or checked in? Or entered API? Could that have slipped your memory?

The pockets of every item of clothing in the house, including your husbands. It could be in the back pocket of a pair of jeans.
