Africa Waterhole Web Cam

My ds1 (8) is doing "Africa" as a topic at school this term (and loving it).

His teacher gave him the address of this website which is a webcam at a waterhole in Botswana. He loves watching it and seeing the animals.

PS Don't check just now though as the cameras are offline and not working for some reason! Check later in the day - after school is a good time.

We are hooked too. I saw a lovely elephant this afternoon.. watched him drinking. He only had one tusk.. very long tho.

web cam has been extended until the 8th Dec! and there are 2 elephants there at the moment! mummy and baby?

Are you sure it's working now? I get the exact same picture that's been there for over two weeks. The camera doesn't pan around the waterhole, and it's transmitting in black/white instead of colour as previously.

I've been waiting for it to come back online, but just looks the same to me.....at least, at the moment.

OK - now can see the camera moving to different views. Still in black and white though....

its archieved, it says downt he left side that they hope to get the part on saturday for the camera. It looks great tho, I'll be checkign back after the weekend.

ahh just read the info and they are having trouble getting parts for the webcam out of London so it's last year's footage at the mo.

Unfortunatley it isn't live feed though

Yes, I've been checking the site a few times a week too. Can't wait for it to be back online live. DD and I loved it last year - the flat was periodically filled with the sounds of wild animal screeches!

Another fan of Pete's Pond here, we were hooked last year (remembering that poor baby elephant!)

Can't wait for it to get back up and running.
