Africa Waterhole Web Cam

My ds1 (8) is doing "Africa" as a topic at school this term (and loving it).

His teacher gave him the address of this website which is a webcam at a waterhole in Botswana. He loves watching it and seeing the animals.

PS Don't check just now though as the cameras are offline and not working for some reason! Check later in the day - after school is a good time.

Roisin - thank you for posting this - the sounds of the birds are fantastic. It's really made my day.

Bit early for major wildlife, I suppose.

Dophus · 30/09/2005 10:29

DD thinks there's an elephant walking past because the camera shakes up and down

OK, what I don't understand, is that sometimes the camera pans round and focuses on a particular animal. Sorry to be thick but that presumably means that someone is operating the camera somewhere. Are they in Botswana? Nooo can't be - what's the point of a web cam if you have to be there? But if they aren't there, where are they? I need to know.

Think he/she's gone for a nap at the moment, it's all gone still.

The camera could be operated by movement sensor moves camera to the elephant etc.
