University offers coming in?

Just for nosiness and due to excitement about DS’s application going in, wondered if we could have a thread with people sharing offers as they are received, during this early phase.

Has anyone had an offer yet? Who will be first?

And totally realise that most won’t have applied yet and won’t do so for months and that’s absolutely fine and more normal.

My daughter will be applying to Cambridge, Bath and probably Exeter (maybe Durham, but maybe not yet) with grades in hand so hoping once it goes in in a couple weeks she'll get quick response from B and E. Her grades are three A stars and course requirements are A A B for those two so fairly confident. Will post when/if she does!
Good luck to yours!

DD applied for Bath, Cambridge, Liverpool, Cardiff and Nottingham. She had immediate offers from Liverpool, Cardiff and Nottingham (within a week) and Bath towards the end of October. Bath though can take many months and she was fortunate to get an early offer, we were not expecting to hear until spring. Cambridge takes what it takes I think she got her interview date early December if I recall.

WombatChocolate · 30/09/2023 08:19

Thanks. DS has Oxford, Durham, Exeter, York and Birmingham for Eng Lit. He has received a couple of acknowledgements of his application (went in on Tuesday) and we hope he might get some offers before half term for the latter 3. Not expecting Durham to offer/reject until March or later. Oxford will be on it’s clear timeline and we might know he does/doesn’t have an interview by mid Nov, so that one might be dead in the water by then and at least any offer or rejection will be known in Jan.

He said quite a few from his school have got their applications in this week.

Watching with interest as DD has everything ready to go apart from personal statement (drafted and with school to tweak). Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff, Leicester and Birmingham for Geology or variations of it. I'd love her to get an offer from one early-ish in the process as a confidence boost. 🤞 for them all

gotomomo · 30/09/2023 09:19

Word of warning, Durham is usually the slowest, they don't usually do early offers.

gotomomo · 30/09/2023 09:21

Birmingham offered my dd the same week, Cardiff too, Leicester took 10 days ... more popular the course the slower I found

Rollergirl11 · 30/09/2023 11:17

@WombatChocolate ooooh this is interesting. DD also applying for English lit. She will be doing Cambridge, Durham, Exeter, Lancaster and needs to decide between York and Warwick after we attend the Warwick open day next weekend.

Out of interest given they are applying for same course and lots of the same unis, what are your DS’s PG? DD has 2x A * A with an A in EPQ.

My dd has just started at Durham. She didn’t do early entry and applied i think early November. Durham offered mid January. But yes they can keep people having on! Her other 4 offered between 24hrs and maybe 3 weeks after her form went in.

Good luck to all applying - I hope your dc achieve their dreams.

University offer talk here too and in the Oxbridge entry 2024 thread.

Livinghappy · 01/10/2023 21:30

@WombatChocolate Ds's application could be in this week.

Would be interesting to hear of the first offers coming in.

RosieMilkJug · 01/10/2023 21:38

I remember UCL being very slow with their offers. DD received hers in March.

WobblyLondoner · 02/10/2023 20:46

DS went in over the weekend. Fingers crossed ...

Lottie4 · 03/10/2023 10:47

DD applied on early entry. At the time it was well known Scottish unis kept you waiting, but they were the first two to offer (her friends were envious and quite a few got rejections). Birmingham took ten weeks, Warwick thirteen weeks and (as mentioned by others) Durham was the last in March.

It's different for everyone depending on course and strength of application.

WombatChocolate · 04/10/2023 09:58

No offers yet. We are a week after the application went in. DS is a very strong applicant with all 9s at GCSE and all A Star predictions. Realise there will be lots like this amongst the early applicants and he still won’t necessarily get offers from everywhere, esp Oxford and Durham.

However, somehow I thought some of the others woukd offer within a day or two. But perhaps it’s just too early at the moment, and those who get offers a day after applying are a bit further into the autumn. Hopefully at least one will offer by half term. He has had 2 email acknowledgements from the unis he applied to, but not the others. Is doing the admissions test in a couple of weeks.

Our application was submitted yesterday, for Economics & Politics/PPE at Oxford, Warwick, Durham, Exeter & Nottingham. Am hoping at least one or two offers are made quickly, to take the pressure off a bit.

Lightsabre · 04/10/2023 19:25

I've only heard of Royal Holloway offering so far.

Headingto18 · 04/10/2023 19:31

DC got an offer from Bristol today (applied at the weekend); was surprised it was so quick

lastdayatschool · 04/10/2023 19:33

We know 6 people, including my son, who applied to Exeter last year and none of them heard until after the equal consideration cutoff date in January.

They tier their applicants, i.e. tier 1 have 3Astar predictions, tier 2 have 2A*, 1A etc. and offer in order of these rankings, so assumption was always they waited for all applications before offering

Lightsabre · 04/10/2023 19:34

Ds just said some QMUL offers coming in too.

Amazing !
Have posted on other thread but dd applied for Liverpool , Lancaster and Newcastle for 8th sep with grades in hand and still haven't heard.

Makingplansfor2029 · 04/10/2023 19:38

Friend of DD had a Birmingham offer today.

she’s not doing Oxbridge but her personal statement is ready. School want all forms in first day after half term but hoping to get hers in within the next couple of weeks. Just waiting on final predictions as they did some more exams at the start of term

Applying for Bristol Sheffield Newcastle Liverpool and Birmingham. From my older child I recall Sheffield and Newcastle came through quickly, Bristol kept us hanging for months after being put on hold. Didn’t apply to the others so can’t comment

WobblyLondoner · 04/10/2023 19:44

Stupid question - are they notified by email? DS is a bit rubbish at checking !

Livinghappy · 04/10/2023 22:06

DS has Oxford, Durham, Exeter, York and Birmingham for Eng Lit

I imagine Oxford, Durham and Exeter will be slow (like pp, heard Exeter wait until January) I guess is Birmingham may be the first offer received but that's a guess.

I think this must be course dependent as DS's first offer came from Exeter, a few days after he submitted his form. This was the year before last.

WombatChocolate · 05/10/2023 16:43

I heard of some Leeds offers today and also some Bristol.
