Bath University Accommodation

Hello, I’m not sure if it’s already being discussed somewhere, sorry if it is. DC has been accepted to Bath Uni (as a first choice) and we’re waiting for an accommodation email. Anyone has already received theirs? It’s our first experience with university application/life. Not sure how long the wait is and we’re getting a bit nervous. Should DC contact them? Or just wait patiently? Thanks for help.

Good luck to those DC being allocated accommodation today. I hope they get what they want 🤞

cmcc22 · 31/08/2023 13:20

Still waiting - hopeful to hear today. Comments about temporary accomodation are so worrying. Hope your DCs are coping with the stress.

LightandAiry · 31/08/2023 13:20

Thanks @OscarMikeGolf last week they said after 4pm to hear about it, still waiting then I hope your DS hears soon.

flotsomandjetsome · 31/08/2023 14:00

Not sure if there's been an email, but busted logged onto the accommodation account on the off chance and it's there!

On campus, which is all DS was worried about

flotsomandjetsome · 31/08/2023 14:59

Just - not busted!!

hanka · 31/08/2023 15:10

Finally got ours sorted! Yay! Fingers crossed for everyone else’s.
Good luck!

DS also just got his allocation confirmed too! He's happy 😊

LightandAiry · 31/08/2023 15:24

My DD has been allocated halls on campus but she's not overjoyed. Her 5th choice and she doesn't like the look of it, also she's on the top floor. She'll get used to it.

cmcc22 · 31/08/2023 15:24

DS got city accommodation. Bit disappointed but at least we can plan now

LightandAiry · 31/08/2023 15:26

Anybody not heard - hope you hear soon

LightandAiry · 31/08/2023 15:27

@cmcc22 is Bath his insurance?

EllaPaella · 31/08/2023 15:28

DS went to Bath Sept 2021 and we hadn't had confirmation about halls until early September. I remember we moved him down the last weekend in September.

EllaPaella · 31/08/2023 15:30

He was in the city halls and loved it. Right in the heart of everything and easy enough to get to campus.

loobylou44 · 31/08/2023 15:57

Had anyone been given Polden? DD is delighted but my bank balance isn't!

LightandAiry · 31/08/2023 16:15

We have Westwood - better for my bank balance!

They only live in for a year, they will soon make friends and find shared houses for next year, none of which will be on campus. DD was on Stanley Road West for her last two years and almost every house was full of students.

I lived on Stanley Road West too when I was at Bath Uni 😊

fortyfifty · 31/08/2023 16:34

@LightandAiry DD had Westwood 2 years ago. One advantage of the top floor is it's quieter. The location is ideal. There's green and communal spaces around. The rooms are a good size, with a sink and loads of shelving. But I understand. They do look grim!

LightandAiry · 31/08/2023 17:08

She's lucky to be on campus....the kitchens look small can she eat there? The location sounds ideal

LightandAiry · 31/08/2023 17:11

@fortyfifty thanks meant to mention you re post above

fortyfifty · 31/08/2023 22:10

Lack of communal indoor space was a problem. My DD had one of the vertical bloxks with a kitchen in the top and bottom floors and looked like a prison block.. Not ideal. No space to socialise as a whole flat but they tend to spilt in two, as the flats are so big, and that was a positive in the end. I think the horizontal blocks are probably better. Really, as always, it's the people, not the accommodation that make their experience and one advantage of Westwood is you have a lot of people in one residence so you will find the people you get along with.

OscarMikeGolf · 31/08/2023 23:04

It seems loads of people are not happy with their allocated rooms on The Student Room, lots asking if anyone wants to swap - are they allowed to do that? Surely they have to go through Bath's accommodation department officially or they wouldn't know where anyone was and it would be a right old mess?

Westwood corridors iirc have about 3 kitchens to each corridor. DD has only been to parties there but another MNer, who I don't think is on this thread (TangoWhiskyAlphaTango)'s DD was in Westwood and had a great time.

@cmcc22 is Bath his insurance?

No. It was firm but he did have Green park on his list of accommodation. I've heard that if it's anywhere in your list your likely to get allocated it

He has been allocated a studio - does anyone know if you have a studio (which has a small kitchen- no oven ) do you also get access to a proper shared kitchen?

LightandAiry · 01/09/2023 17:51

@OscarMikeGolf my DD says to swap, you'd have to go on the waiting list, but they could email the accommodation office again. I'd be interested to know if they can swap, my DD says you'd have to go on the waiting list.

LightandAiry · 01/09/2023 17:53

I've just repeated myself there 😳 - long day!
