Thought I would start a new thread as its likely to fill up quick now.

So here we are after many months of applications, assessments and interviews. The wait is finally over for those with DC who have applied to Oxford. Those with Cambridge applicants have another 2 weeks to wait until the 25th Jan (bummer!!)

You have all been a lovely bunch to share this journey with and I wish your dc nothing but the BEST OF LUCK for tomorrow (and the 25th). Flowers

Genegenieee · 11/01/2022 10:11

@SandyBayley there was a maths teacher who made an unhelpful comment re Cambridge STEP - wonder if the same one!

VikingNorthUtsire · 11/01/2022 10:12

Congratulations everyone!!

SirVixofVixHall · 11/01/2022 10:17

Hurray MFL and Proggy !!!
My dd had nightmares all night and is too scared to look at her emails yet.

SayYouDontMind · 11/01/2022 10:18

whatsinaname123 brilliant news - you must be so proud - congratulations to your DS.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/01/2022 10:18

And such happy news whatsinaname delighted for your ds.

VikingNorthUtsire · 11/01/2022 10:20

Just so I know, do rejection emails come this morning too or is it a case of if you haven't got an offer on UCAS by lunchtime you can assume it's a no?

goodbyestranger · 11/01/2022 10:22

Rejection emails are usually sent at the same time as offers by each college. Occasionally a college sends rejections ahead of offers. No college will simply not respond.

PhiRhoSigma · 11/01/2022 10:24

DC's quasi-military operation to get themself into Oxford remains on track, offer has just been received!
Next step is to make sure they actually manage to get the grades. Not a given, considering half their lessons are cancelled at the moment.

Gottasinggottadance · 11/01/2022 10:25

DC got a rejection, so I can confirm they are being sent this am. DC has some great offers already so although it's not nice to be rejected, they are ok.

Congratulations to everyone who went through this process.

heinztomatosoup · 11/01/2022 10:27

I've found you all! Congratulations to those with offers and commiserations to those without.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/01/2022 10:28

Dd has an offer ! I can’t quite take it in.
She is very young, turned 17 a couple of weeks ago, so I am hugely proud of her.

pantjog · 11/01/2022 10:31

Big congrats to DC of @ProggyMat @Whatsinaname321 and @SirVixofVixHall
Commiserations to @Gottasinggottadance

pantjog · 11/01/2022 10:33

DD got an offer!

She already had a choral scholarship but I kept quiet about it because not wanting to tempt fate. She's got an offer from the same college. I'm over the moon for her.

Good luck to those still nail-biting...

Horace123 · 11/01/2022 10:36

@Gottasinggottadance sorry to hear that - I'm sure it will be disappointing and upsetting now but hopefully that will fade quickly.

@SirVixofVixHall Congrats! Very exciting. I can't remember what she applied for???

I am getting absolutely no work done. Think DS will be out of his exam by now ...

goodbyestranger · 11/01/2022 10:38

Very well done to another member of your extraordinary family pantjog!

Juja · 11/01/2022 10:41

Congratulations to all with positive news and sympathy to those who’ve not had good news.

My DD is still in her Mocks until 11.10 Nail biting for the rest of us in the house so just hope she can focus better than us!

Theamazingshrinkingwoman · 11/01/2022 10:43

Rejected for Law with German law
13 9s at gcse from a state school
Predicted AAA*A for A levels
Youth mayor
County sport
ARSM music
Tons of volunteer work
Dyslexic

And she's never arrogant about it all, she's properly nice. Gutted for her.

TataMamma · 11/01/2022 10:46

@Theamazingshrinkingwoman
Sorry to hear that. It is just about the most competitive thing to apply for though. My kids are very little, but I went to Oxford - did PPE but later became a lawyer. It's not for everyone, but I do know plenty of people who applied a second time, often for a different subject, and then got in, although it's obviously a risk. I'm sure she'll do well whatever with all the things she's got going. (I'm dyslexic too!).

Woolala · 11/01/2022 10:48

Congratulations on everyone who got offer!
Sympathy to whom without.

We’re still waiting. Is there anyone experienced no news from
O until 11am?

TerrifiedandWorried · 11/01/2022 10:48

I know she will be fine but not today!

They can still offer straight Law and they did ask her at interview if she would be interested.

SandyBayley · 11/01/2022 10:56

SHE GOT AN OFFER!!!!

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 11/01/2022 10:56

@SandyBayley

SHE GOT AN OFFER!!!!
OMGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! How bloody marvelous! Your must be so so proud! Now breathe!!
