For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

lol Franny, I'm boggling at what on earth you suggested that they did with their jam. Was it something to do with replacing it with quinoa?

bbbee and her children came for lunch today one their way to camping. My guinea pig peed copiously all over her son's crotch and then they left.

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2009 20:13

well it asked us to think of creative and exciting things to do with an empty squeezy jam container
i think hartley's have not got a very good sense of humour

boco
you;ve got a guinea pig

i can't possibly catch up on everyone's news so i am focusing on this one small point
i feel like i am up to date now

Boco · 20/08/2009 20:56

Actually, I have two guinea pigs, Wilfred and Morris, and have had them for 14 months. They were here running about on the grass when you came for lunch that time.

I need to give you some more up to date news. Ummm. I have short hair! V. short bob, really short at the back. I like it.

Evie has a broken wrist.

My pictures are in the mn book and I got a copy of it this week.

Now give us some news.

ABitWrong · 20/08/2009 22:07

Wilfred and Morris are good names for guinea pigs. I like guinea pigs.

ThePinkOne · 21/08/2009 07:57

Hoorah DS slept all night. I didn't, I woke up at 4 needin the loo and panicked that he had been kidnapped via his open window. But a good night sleep was had by all.

I did 10 mins on the trampoline at half past 6 and am now waiting for dd to get up so we can eat loads of fruit for breakfast.

I am going to start having stickers for 10 mins exercise a day so that I do it and I won't look as fat in DS's christening photos (we are going on hols first but unfortunately I will still look fat in the holiday snaps!)

Franny, was your jam suggestion a little inappropriate [stern]

@ BBB coming to see you Boco

ThePinkOne · 21/08/2009 07:59

I find guinea pigs a little odd with thier whirls in the fur. Not very neat.

Oh and Tiger - not long now Have you got brand new fluffles? I want new nappies. I actually had a moment the other day when I considered disposables

Boco · 21/08/2009 10:08

That must be a particular breed of guinea pig Pink. Mine are totally smooth and neat.

TigerFeet · 21/08/2009 18:31

Fluffles are second hand, but I have some brand new Teddies [stroke]

I am in awe of early morning trampolining. I'm in awe of any sort of trampolinging in all fairness.

My brother has an hour on Anthony Gormley's plinth in a couple of weeks' time. Didn't someone else on here know another plinthee? I remember not having heard of AG at that point

I used to work for the company that owns H@rtleys. THey definitely don't have a sense of humour.

OsBa - cricket is gooooood. I was listening to bits of this afternoon's play on the radio. Twas fab.

Not long now. I am about as ready as I'm likely to get pre birth. 37 weeks tomorrow.

ThePinkOne · 21/08/2009 19:40

Think Franny's sis/sil was on the plith? What will your brother do?

I just had to google teddies. I have nappy I'm not happy with my nappies and want to spend lots of money on lovely new ones but I think the reality is that whatever nappies I have I will have to change every 2 hours cause my children are just so wet!

Did I tell you I'm doing stickers for my exercise I need the motivation. Doesn't take much!! A sparkly star to get me on the trampoline at 6am

littlerach · 21/08/2009 19:55

Hello veggers

We are back.

I htink I'd like ot live in Suffolk
Iy was truly wonderful and lovely and just good.

Oh well, first load of washing ready to go on.

Did I miss anything?

You're all v quiet.

SuperBunny · 21/08/2009 20:08

Ooo, I had DS at 37 weeks!

SuperBunny · 21/08/2009 20:11

Welcome back LR. Am impressed with Pink's early morning bouncing too.

Juice
Beetroot
Rocket
Cucumber
Tomatoes
baked beans
peas
banana

ThePinkOne · 21/08/2009 20:31

Oh yes. List.

Pear, raisins, melon, salad = 3 portions, stew = 3 portions, dried apricot, more raisins in tiffin. I'll have some apple juice tonight to make it 10/10.

Anyone else?

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2009 21:08

oops Boco i remember now
i have a chronically selective memory
those whorls on guinea pigs' fur are called "rosettes"
you see i remember crap like that and forget wilfred and, erm...

(should it not have been william and morris?)

aha
yes it was my sis on the plinth
she was fab! i felt v proud
she did read a book as i predicted and her bottom looked great in silver space trousers (she was dressed as an astronaut)
she said hello to me but the mike chose that moment to go funny so you could only hear "garble garble franny garble"

hold on
Evie has a broken wrist? oh no! what happened! is she ok? you weren't in poland when she broke it were you???
oh bless her
hope she and you are ok

do i have news?
erm
not really
ds2 is 1 now
he can sign 'more' and 'all done' and can say "paper" very clearly indeed

ds1 wants to be a punk
he has tried to have a pet dead bee AGAIN
i doubt anyone will remember his previous dead pet bee when he was 3 - it was a happy time until i discovered BEE LICE
i have forbidden any more dead pets for now
i had better get him a guinea pig or something hadn't i? [gloom]

ABitWrong · 21/08/2009 21:13

hamsters are nice

TigerFeet · 21/08/2009 21:15

Oh bloody hell Bunny don't tell me that - we're actually going away tomorrow for an overnighter . I've packed everything I might need in order to serve as insurance that I won't actually need it, iyswim.

2 nectarines
carrots
onion
OJ
apple

much nesting cleaning of house

Glad you enjoyed your holiday LR, Suffolk is lovely. We did consider Gt Yarmouth for this weekend but the weather is going to be shocking there so we're heading northwards instead.

DB is looking for ideas for what to do on the plinth. I don't think a decision has been made yet. I suggested a trangia and much bread and bacon, but apparently fire isn't allowed up there.

Boco · 21/08/2009 21:33

Where in Suffolk did you go LR? I love living here, especially in summer.

Franny I do actually remember the first dead bee, the bee mites have haunted me since last time.

Guinea pigs are excellent. You should get two. Not one because it'd be lonely. They're very friendly and they always look like they're smiling.

dd2 broke her wrist leaping from the top of a climbing frame. I had to drive to a&e, twice, which was a bit stressful, but she's fine, - plaster on for 4 weeks though which has been a right drag, no swimming, scootering or bike riding etc, all through August.

ThePinkOne · 21/08/2009 22:04

Fran's DS2 is one?!

littlerach · 22/08/2009 08:29

Get a rabbit
My friend looked after ours when we were away and has severe rabbit envy now.

Boco, we were in Yoxford. Very nice village, between Aldeburgh and Southwold. We have friends near Earl Soham so not far from them. Dh found a hiouse for sale in Peasenhall and was serioulsy tempted!
He and dd1 went to a chorizo shop recommended by Rick Stein and bought half the shop!

Fran, I was thinking your ds2 should be baout that age now - it has gone so quickly.

FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2009 09:51

poor dd boco
what rotten timing, however i suppose it might have been worse to have it when at school?

i can't do guinea pigs or rabbits or any of that
they need huge space imo (esp rabbits) and they get ill and i go spare
we could do some kind of insect but not stick insects
or snails
or spiders
or dead bees

oh i don't know
why do they have to have pets? i have tried to convince ds1 that ds2 is his pet but he isn't convinced
at least ds2 doesn't have lice though (AFAIK)

i will come back later and show off pictures as they are both particularly lovely atm

littlerach · 22/08/2009 10:51

Cool photos Fran.
Specially the green glitter outfit

ThePinkOne · 22/08/2009 11:22

Oh they're scrummy Fran

I don't do pets although I think we'll end up getting a dog cause DH's family always had them. I can't decide which is more unfair - not letting him have one cause I don't like them or getting one and I'll end up doing all the looking after and budgeting for the food and vets bills.

So, I've just done a week 4 session of the Couch to 5k. But I didn't listen and thought it was only 3,5,3 minute runs (with walks between) but it wasn't there was another 5 minute run at the end! So I had to stop a minute before the end. And now I'm wrecked!!

But half an hour exercise anyway and pear and apple juice.

MayorNaze · 22/08/2009 19:00

get a fish

unless you have a cat.

otherwise the cat will devote large amounts of its time upsetting the tank

it will be v traumatic for all concerned...

hello all

dear god they all need to go back to school so i can resume a Healthy Lifestyle dammit

i am guessing plum jam is not quite so nutritious as plain plums (though more tasty IMHO and nothing whotsoever to do with hartleys squeezy doodahs)

and that just about sums up my f&v consumption

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/08/2009 19:12

Honey.
I'm home.

Am knackered.

France was just BEAUTIFUL. The gite and the weather were great.

We were staying in SE Normandy and drove to Giveny (Monet's home and gardens), Versailles and Chatres. I am enchanted with France. We'll defo go back again. The driving to and in France was sooooo easy.

Can we please have Boot Camp? It gave me FOCUS. How about a new title and a new FOCUS?

Lovely to see you back Franny

How did the house swap go Boco? Would you do it again?

Were did you visit LR? I hope the sun shone for you.

Hurrah for Pinks ds sleeping through

Mayor - when is the tortilla masterclass?

Who else is on their hols?

Has Guad moved yet?

Have I asked enough questions yet?
