For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hope I haven't overstepped myself but I was pissed off with waiting for the other one to load.

Where have the cunting mangoes gone? That used to make me chuckle everytime I saw it

And how to you manage 10 portions of fruit and veg a day?

TooTickyDoves · 30/12/2008 18:11

Oh god technical questions!

Okay, the mangoes were about to disappear up their own....

And to eat ten portions, you just keep eating until you have eaten them really. Add them to things, snack on them, y'know.

TooTickyDoves · 30/12/2008 18:12

Are you a mad lemur?

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/12/2008 18:14

I'll miss the cunting mangoes.

I only just about get in my 5 a day, nevermind 10. Do you have to make an effort to eat 10, or does it come easily?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/12/2008 18:16

I'm physically fit, physically fit, physically, physically, physically fit.

Well ............. I'm not actually.

TigerFeet · 30/12/2008 18:18

TooTickyDoves · 30/12/2008 18:18

ILTMIMI - 10 is more of a target, y'see, as opposed to something that actually happens that often. Erm.

A banana and a couple of handfuls of dried fruit for breakfast

Veg soup for lunch

Much lentils, beans etc

And snacking on fruit, carrot sticks, instead of biscuits

nonononononono it is HIGHLY POSSIBLE to get 10
you start with a really stonking breakfast
eg small bowl of cereal, an apple, a banana, some raisins and a glass of orange juice
that's 4
for lunch you could have a salad, or a bowl of veg soup, or beans on toast, or just a sandwich and some more fruit
then half your plate at dinner time filled with veg, preferably a few lentils or beans thrown in, and there you go

oh

that's what TigerFeet just said

right
as you were

FrannyandZooey · 30/12/2008 18:30

i can't quite believe we only had one mild about the mangoes and now people are coming in to complain they have GONE

TooTickyDoves · 30/12/2008 18:59

Is it like last year's? I can't remember. I went with what seemed popular.

I wish I could stop shaking, I don't know what's the matter with me.

OP posts:
TooTickyDoves · 30/12/2008 19:03

On reflection, it's probably just the cold.

the cunting could be dressed as a tribute to greeny

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/12/2008 19:19

I'm starting to feel very welcome, what with having my tail stroked and all

I've seen your threads but didn't actually know what they were about. In November I made a real effort to have by 5 a day and I have (mostly) manged to do it. Having seen this thread it has inspired me to strive for 10/10 perfection ...................
Plus I've got an evil jelly belly from hell after having ds in September, and I really need to do something about it!

This might sound odd, but are any of you vegetarians? Does this help in getting to your 10 a day? It makes me think that veggies are more inventive in getting in their 10 a day.

BBBee · 30/12/2008 19:20

franny you are naughty making me all naked in everyones head on the other thread you know.

hotel chocolat - my sister loves them but i am always a bit meh about them tbh. we didn't get them this year as last year i got fed up and them cross that i was fed up with something so expensive.

the one thing they do that is divine is kirsch soaked cherries in dark choclate - they are wonderously wonderful.

okay - are we all healthy?

apple
satsuma
onion
orange juice

(I know it doesn;t look good but in comparison to the last week it is positively saintly)

BBBee · 30/12/2008 19:21

i am a vegetarian and so is franny i think and toot is a vegan and guad eats meat and pink eats bacon and oh i can;t remember.

nice to have you -stay. it is bonkers nice here.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/12/2008 19:29

Well thank you for the warm welcome everybody. I think I might settle my ample arse down here and aim for my 10/10.

Infact I am so inspired that I am going to add grapes and an apple to my tea (bread, cheese board and chorizo).

Ohh, I'm starting to feel all virtuous

BBBee · 30/12/2008 19:32

that is great - that is how you do it really.

someone on here (i can;t remember who as i am crap with names and yoiu are all eqully brilliant) said to prepare a couple of carrots first thing and then just have them like thorough the day as a snack and it is great - 2 extra without trying.
