For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello

We don;t really "do" NYE

  • or is it never get invited anywhere and can;t be arsed to have our own party

So I am having a massive house clearance to make room for the warehouse load of new toys we seem to have acquired and DH is painting a storage unit {grin]

Happy New Year everyone, probably see you all later

Am also nervously watching about one hundred gasmen dig up the gas main outside our house. At one point we had SEVEN vans outside. I almost thought they had come to have a party rather than actually work. I got quite excited.

FrannyandZooey · 31/12/2008 16:15

Happy New Year chaps
I hate new year;s eve but love new year's day
we mostly go down the pier and it is usually bitter and wet and wonderful in an odd way
we do all the amusements and slot machines and rides and stuff
not convinced i will make it this year though, am coughy
have been out coughing on people sorry, people

Guadalupe · 31/12/2008 16:50

Toot - what lovely stollen! I am afraid it's all gone. Thank you.

We have just been invited to a last minute thing. Bring the kids they say, they can watch films on the projector and babies can sleep. Hmm. Sleep? I don't think ds2 will sleep and dh isn't really up for it, more my friends really. He will come if I say he has to but he'd rather not.

I have to say the sofa seems appealing right now. A film and some champagne. We have takaways from the deli, mine is risotto stuffed pepper and it looks very nice. Maybe I will perk up later.

naswm · 31/12/2008 16:53

Ok, resolutions and all that - I manage my 5 a day (usually) and the thought of 10 is a bit daunting. But I want to become healthier and fitter, so can I join?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 31/12/2008 17:31

naswm - fancy seeing you here! I 'joined' yesterday. How did the loaf go?

naswm · 31/12/2008 17:37

hi Moveit (how do you usually abbreviate your name btw?!) - are we allowed to talk about bread on this thread ? but it was v nice!

SuperBunny · 31/12/2008 18:02

stuffitllama · 31/12/2008 19:21

It was nice but we missed midnight through chatting, it was just three families and the children ran around outside with torches then we had sparklers once we had realised. People have gone home now -- what a mess we have all made. Happy New Year veggers, may 2009 bring you much contentment
xx

lionheart · 31/12/2008 19:24

Happy New Year 10/10ers.

(Hope to come back soon if I haven't been sent down or whatever the 10/10 version might be).

dooneygirl · 31/12/2008 19:27

Hi all. I've been mildly stalking your thread the past few weeks, in preparation of trying to become a 10/10er for the new year. Which won't be easy, because I've come to the conclusion that I don't like fruits that well, and I have a life-long aversion to exercise, no matter how little it might be. But I've decided I need to get over both of those.

This week's a bit hectic, but I've told Superbunny that she has to nag me to be on here next week. Please feel free have her yell at me if I'm not on here, because I do avoid exercising at all cost.

BBBee · 31/12/2008 19:29

Mou, I have had the holiday blues too. And i also did in the summer holidays. I have comeot the conclusion that I sadly like my routine life of term time and get a bit weirded out with no routine as usual.

Courgette

Not bad today
