For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

evening my lovelies

TF and (hug) I don't know what to suggest. I'd be a bit peeved re DH too. Work situation is shit.

Iliketomoveit, I am veggie, in part because I couldn't possibly eat 10 portions of F&V if I ate meat too. But lots of other reasons also. It helps with 10/10, I think.

Toot, are you ok? Still shaking?

We went to the Winter Wonderfest today, which is like a temporary indoor amusement park for kids - lots of bouncy castles, some quite elaborate with obstacle courses inside them, a skating rink, ferris wheels, a little train etc. Was v busy but DS and I had fun.

What are you all doing for NYE? We're doing nothing. Maybe a snowman day.

banana
grapes
blueberries
assorted veg on pizza
juice
crap

SuperBunny · 31/12/2008 04:50

2 bananas, bowl of mushrooms. So eight. Better than expected. Hooray!

stuffitllama · 31/12/2008 05:26

how did you get to 53 so damn quick

Tiger that is rubbish. Will you get some more "me" time anytime soon? You sound like you really need it to get thoughts in order about the job. Do you have to think about whether to apply, or do you feel that giving up work is not an option? What a rotten decision. Was just posting somewhere else to delay as long as possible before giving up -- if work is precious to you. But it doesn't sound like you love it. Maybe your dream job IS just round the corner.

hello moveit , yes, bags of organic carrots are the thing. you don't have to wash or peel and can just munch back to back

well done super bunny on eight

Toot why are you shaking? Are you ok?

peppers, onions, carrots, broccoli, last night on top of unwise papaya intake, about 6

stuffitllama · 31/12/2008 05:28

franny get well

what is everyone doing tonight (tomorrow in Superbun's case)

I always like to spend it with children
my days of heavy drinking are seriously over

stuffitllama · 31/12/2008 05:30

we are having two families over but I always feel like I have to justify not going out

TooTickyDoves · 31/12/2008 07:57

Is it NYE today then? We don't do anything really [boring]
Well, talk to the dcs about it and they get as excited as they want to. I don't stay up for it though. Well, not deliberately.

TigerFeet · 31/12/2008 08:34

You are all so lovely [sob]

Pink you are so right about all this working to my advantage [adamant]. When term starts I am helping out one morning a week at dd's school - who knows, something might come of that. I'm not particularly enamoured of my job per se but I don't get much adult contact other than dh and his flakey family outside work. I work in an open plan office with a really nice bunch of people and I would miss that if it were to disappear.

BBBee the tiger hug was lovely, thank you

We don't do anything at NY either. I'd kind of like to socialise a bit but dh hates it. I may well be on here

littleducks · 31/12/2008 09:13

so yesterday i didnt do so well

dried apricots (finished bag, thanks whoever rec dried fruit)
melon
tomatoe soup (one with proper tom bits in not heinz)

but i went shopping and bought fruit and veg so today is on a better start as have half a banana (shared with dcs) and grapes on my weatabix

took ds to dr and he has some of weird ear infection and so is on antibiotics, i think i should stay close to home at all times now as the nappies when i was on abs and was bf him were bad enough, not sure how bad directly ab nappies will be, so that reminds me to go give him meds

pink so will it be a march baby then? cant believe i was pg this time last year, it has flown by ds was due end of march but being a pickle turned up on april fools day

BBBee · 31/12/2008 09:16

this time of year is hard though - do freeze dried chocolate covered raspberries count?

anyway i should be writing an asignment so should not be on here but probably will all day

i love you all - am i allowed to say i miss boco

BBBee · 31/12/2008 09:17

TooTickyDoves · 31/12/2008 09:22

stuffitllama · 31/12/2008 10:19

is that right? anyone else?

hope everything is better soon littleduck
you sound more resolved Tiger

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 31/12/2008 10:22

I was feeling all inspired last night and also had olives, I guess they count?

This morning I haven't done so well.

1 croissant with strawb jam - I'm guessing the strawberry jam doesn't count

1 pain au chocolat - chocolate comes from cocao, and that is a bean, ergo it is a veg. (I really am clutching at straws now aren't I ?!)

1 glass of apple juice.

I think this 10/10 malarky is going to have to be a lifestyle change for me, so I really think I'm going to have to plan my 10 a day to start with, until it becomes a habit.

I also need to get rid of all of the christmas food we have bought, as it is too tempting.

BBB - my NY exercise resolution will be to walk with the pram everyday. Increasing the length of the walk on a regular basis and making sure I get out of breath.

TooTickyDoves · 31/12/2008 10:53

Ooh, a llama and a lemur

am slightly better
(no thanks to mr avi)
am well enough to go to fairy and pixie party
ds1 is prince / wizard / pixie hybrid
ds2 has inflatable fairy wings

have just eaten mango i have been grooming for about 3 weeks
it has been in luxury home of paper bag with hot and cold running bananas etc
it was so ripe it glided off the stone
and either tasted of very little or my taste buds are screwed with illness
suspect latter as i gave some to the pixie wizard and he was in ecstasies

TinyWhiteFeather · 31/12/2008 12:53

I'll have any hugs that are going, I have the holiday blues for some reason.

TooTickyDoves · 31/12/2008 13:04

at hot and cold running bananas

FrannyandZooey · 31/12/2008 13:06

well i am not sure about all this hugging [grinch]
it strikes me as insanitary and possibly responsible for this PLAGUE that half of us have got

BBBee · 31/12/2008 13:08

i like avi's I DO NOT HUG friend - I wonder if there is an I ALWAYS HUG version.

(((((((hug))))))

off out - hang loose bitches.

Guadalupe · 31/12/2008 14:01

Lol at 'I do not hug'. I am not quite that bad yet. Actually I just gave some friends who are visiting from Portugal a very big hug indeed so I must just be picky.

Have cut the christmas/wedding cake and it's bloody lovely. The brandy helped.

Tigerfeet - hope you feel better soon. New year, new starts, things might pick up.

What are you all doing tonight? I am doing zilch.

Tatties! I missed you again.
