I'm interested in all the symptoms and how long one would be infectious for. TIA.

Still unwell here. Been going on since 28 December. Ears still blocked and I keep catching colds. I’ve had antibiotics and steroid nasal spray. I’ve had enough.

AzureDog · 06/03/2026 06:33

Same here, had it from boxing day good days bad days

JTA1972 · 06/03/2026 06:47

Same here absolutely relentless

SadSaq · 06/03/2026 15:16

Had it 2 weeks at least. I didn't catch anything when everyone else did over Christmas and January.

My left ear is blocked and sore. Ear calm is helping. It's always one sided with me (left) sinus is blocked too.
I just feel really off. I'm pretty sure it's covid.
I've taken time off work. I only work part time anyway.

I'm sleeping more too.
I hope everyone else gets better soon.

Alchemilla55 · 06/03/2026 18:00

I posted a few weeks ago. I had this virus for most of January and I thought I had recovered. And I have, more or less, but I have a few good days then a bad day. I am still really tired, I feel hungrier than usual, and every now and then my left ear keeps re-blocking.

I tested for Covid about a week into it, and it was negative. But the lingering after effects certainly feel like it could have been.

baroqueandblue · 06/03/2026 22:20

Have also had it since boxing day (think I posted about it on this thread in the early days). It has to be Covid, right?! I didn't test way back when, but if I had I would now put money on it being Covid. And almost 3 months later I'm plagued by daily headaches, facial and dental pain, post-exertion malaise, breathing is out of whack, and the pain in my arms, neck, shoulders, omg. I had x-rays for that today! Gums are inflamed, was put on 3 days of metronidazole and antibacterial mouthwash this afternoon.

I'm on a part time course until July and supposed to be studying but most days I can't concentrate and am behind with my coursework. Paid a few grand for it and might have to drop out. I've never known anything like this, and I've had my fair share of health issues.

The depression is one of the worst symptoms, mostly because the longer this goes on the more despairing I feel.

I'm sorry to hear others are also still not over it months later 😞

Such a weird range of symptoms but I have had them all mostly. Interesting you mention depression too. I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus. Some days I’m okay and then the day after I am floored.

JTA1972 · 07/03/2026 06:09

Its left me with major digestive issues. I suffered anyway but its made it 10 x worse, I’m pretty sure i’ve caught something else since, I originally caught the week before xmas, blood tests showed high bilirubin which I was sent to hospital for on xmas eve for scans. All were clear they have now diagnosed me with Gilberts syndrome at the age of 54 having had no symptoms prior to having this virus.

both ears are blocked along with really bad tinnitus and blocked sinuses and massive fatigue still. It must be nearly 11 weeks since this all started and I’m no better now.

AzureDog · 07/03/2026 06:34

Omg same here with all yhe symptoms 🙈

Alchemilla55 · 07/03/2026 08:21

Reading all these posts I realise we all have the same problems after this horrible virus. I'm still getting blocked sinuses at night. Also the depression and anxiety, I feel okay then am suddenly hit with it and feel really panicky.

I have IBS and the virus made it a lot worse, for weeks I was waking in the night with stomach cramps. I 'cured' that by following advice of another poster (thank you!) and eating blue cheese every day. I had not realised it was good for gut health but it works for me. (I can't tolerate probiotics like kefir.)

DeanElderberry · 07/03/2026 11:44

Blue cheese is my go-to - I'm really glad it worked for you.

The virus really is a stinker, I've been mostly over it since the end of January, but I get reminders from time to time.

AzureDog · 07/03/2026 17:04

Did anyone have a sore mouth with this

TheHillIsMine · 07/03/2026 17:50

Just back from hospital after feeling every dizzy, freezing cold and throwing up several times.

Nothing wrong with me! All tests fine. No infection. Heart, liver and kidney beyond healthy.

Yet I feel so poorly, different from the reason I started the thread but worse in some ways. Managed to keep down two crackers and some plain pasta.

Monday is blood test day as issues with iron, my heart and lungs already.

My mouth generally was (I think) okay but my jaw and teeth were sore for a while which was alarming since I really wasn't fit (in any sense) for a visit to the dentist. And I had four or five scary moments when my swallowing was weak - very relieved that that didn't continue.

My anxiety has been AWFUL! I’ve been signed up to talking therapies with NHS now. I also just had bloods back and my vitamin D is low, so think that’s attributed. Maybe worth getting checked?

Alchemilla55 · 08/03/2026 08:38

Thank you @MyNavyLemur
I've been taking vit D for several years but that's a good thought.

Alchemilla55 · 08/03/2026 08:40

@AzureDog I had sore teeth for a little while, I always get this with viruses. Not a sore mouth particularly though.

JTA1972 · 08/03/2026 14:02

Anyone else got neck/arm/shoulders pain with this ? Mine are killing me

AzureDog · 08/03/2026 16:44

Yeah its my teeth jaw

Yep! Only just starting to feel a little better 🥴

AzureDog · 08/03/2026 23:08

Yeah had that as well

DeanElderberry · 09/03/2026 08:00

I had that for a while, and now that I've recovered (more or less) I have it all over again as I return to my (fairly small) dumbbells.

Oh no! I went for a walk yesterday. One I’ve done many times. Absolutely exhausting. I had to lie down several times.

g1c2d3 · 09/03/2026 10:19

Has anyone else started suffering headaches after their illness that feel like tension headaches but constant, persisting for weeks and not helped by medication? I went to the GP after three weeks of these and was told to rest, medicate and hydrate. Doing all of these now for six weeks since onset and nothing has helped or changed the severity of the headaches.

Kingfishr · 09/03/2026 11:43

Total sympathies to you all. I know we all want to forget the pandemic, but so many of you sound like you have a form of Long Covid, or a Post Viral Syndrome at least.

Please don't push yourselves. Look up the symptoms and consequences of PEM (or PESE), and if it sounds familiar, then take it seriously, or you risk putting recovery back, or potentially out of reach.

I had a Covid infection five years ago, pre-vax, and am still unable to work or live anything like a normal life.

Health issues following a virus often resolve, but sometimes do not, and you'd be wise to take them seriously. I used to be fit and healthy, push through, keep going. It's not lazy to give your body time and space to recover properly, and not weak to ask for help/ seek medical advice 💐
