I'm interested in all the symptoms and how long one would be infectious for. TIA.

@Elefontaine I had a couple of Covid tests so I tested. Negative. What I had last month felt worse than the confirmed Covid I had a couple of years ago.

Themightyreds · 07/02/2026 19:55

It's been about 5 weeks now for me. Started around 12th Jan with a cough and feeling a bit off colour. After a week or so I thought I was getting better, since then I've had alternating sore throat, swollen glands, bunged up, irritated sinuses, and generally feeling rubbish. In this time through my cough has come and gone then come back again. At the moment I'm alternating between a runny then bunged up nose, I'm tired and my cough is driving me insane. My throat feels tickly which is making me cough. My chest feels a little tight but sore from the constant coughing. I have a chest X-ray booked for next week but im hoping I feel better by then.

AzureDog · 13/02/2026 19:09

Hows everyone doing now

Themightyreds · 13/02/2026 19:17

I got worse over last weekend and ended up on antibiotics for a chest infection. I'm feeling slightly better now.

DeanElderberry · 13/02/2026 19:42

I think I'm over it.

I got a cold last weekend. It was quite different.

lordun · 14/02/2026 16:07

I’ve been completely wiped out all week. Feel over the worst of it now but when I do anything, it’s completely tiring me out. I’m never normally ill but this has really taken it out of me. It started with stomach aches, feeling sick and then turned into fever, fatigue, aches all over (even my teeth?!). I did wonder if it could be covid but we don’t have any tests

TheHillIsMine · 29/12/2025 09:10

Thank you all. I am about to ring and tell work and I know they will be distinctly unimpressed but in all good conscience I can't go to work when I'm infectious. My clients are in their 80s and 90s. I've just been to the loo and coming down has worn me out. I also have asthma so this is not fun.

I thought I’d got away with not catching it as all my family had it for over a week - day 8 I came down with it!

teentoddlermum · 18/02/2026 10:29

So after a few weeks of being ill early Jan, it went away and now it’s back! Second case of sinusitis in 2 months
I have sore eyes, cheeks, headache, and it’s constant and won’t go away
i feel so ill mentally and physically and it’s sucking the life out of me 😭😭😭😭

TheHillIsMine · 18/02/2026 14:43

Update for me. Started with this at Christmas. A few weeks ago started with sore throat, cold and cough as well, without recovering from the Christmas virus. Had asthma review. Advised. Phone call this morning to see if what they advised had helped. Gave update to nurse. Ten minutes later doctors rang and said to come in. Now on antibiotics, having specialist blood tests and then another test to follow plus a CT. Both lungs aren't clear either.

Hope the antibiotics kick in soon and you don't have to wait long for the scan have you already been on antibiotics

Olderbutt · 18/02/2026 15:59

It took me two weeks to start to feel a bit better but two weeks on from that I'm still really exhausted

ChillWith · 18/02/2026 17:46

@TheHillIsMine jeez; I'm so sorry. You've had it really bad. Is this the first round of antibiotics you've had? Really hope they kick in soon for you.
I had antibiotics when I was going in third week and then a second lot when they ended. It was all in my chest. Literally only started to feel back to normal five weeks after the damn thing started. It is such a rough dose!

Jataz5 · 21/02/2026 20:37

Anyone also got really achey, tired legs? I walk upstairs and feel like I’ve run a marathon! Feels like a mission to keep eyes open, shoulders and arms ache, cough is bad but especially in the mornings when it’s difficult to clear chest and the night sweats are something else!

Me. I’m also horrendously congested. Have been snoring like a pig and i don’t usually snore. Constant catarrh. Shattered all the time.

No, this is the first lot. Little bit freaked out at blood tests to check my heart.

First lot. On line doc did send me to hospital in December but they didn't give me anything.

Yep I’ve got this and the tiredness is unreal just can’t seem to shake it which is really worrying and debilitating
watching my whole family have it and spring back is making me feel like something is wrong
also being sent for bloods

Younginside · 23/02/2026 09:31

I hesitate to post this in case I'm tempting fate, but I'm beginning to feel much better (caught this thing on Boxing Day). For about a week now I've had more energy and am no longer nauseous/starving hungry which was weird and horrible! I had some bloods done which were all fine except for one liver enzyme slightly up, so I'll have that done again in a month or so. One of my GP pals thinks my lurgy might have been covid, although I did test negative at the time (old test lurking in the cupboard). Anyway, hoping everyone still feeling grotty will similarly perk up soon. I think it's best to pace yourself when your energy starts returning, although it's frustrating after so many weeks of inactivity

AzureDog · 23/02/2026 14:59

Hi funny I've been nauseated starving/hungry but I've been itching sore everywhere and very congested just finished ab still coughing the bit out glad your are on the mend 🤞🏽

MyNavyLemur · 23/02/2026 16:46

Has anyone had any trouble with their ears since having this? I got over the virus mid/end of Jan, but a month later I now have fullness in my ears and the odd spell of feeling a bit dizzy if my head is in a certain position. Might not be linked, but just wondered!

Yes I was like this in the night. I’m feeling awful today and guilty for not being in work

Pianoaholic · 23/02/2026 20:02

Mine finally went a few days ago. I had been ill since early Jan.
I don't think i have ever had such an awful virus before.

Gonefishingithink · 23/02/2026 21:20

I’ve also had the nausea and feeling starving hungry.

Was it your Bilirubin that was raised ? mine is still high now nearly 2 months on.

No, it was alkaline phosphatase. I might have spoken a bit hastily earlier about feeling better as I am very tired again this week - probably tried to do too much. But going in the right direction!
