I'm interested in all the symptoms and how long one would be infectious for. TIA.

It’s so strange. Never had an illness that has lingered on for so long! This must be some new strain of something 🤷🏻‍♀️ everyone I speak to say about it lasting like this and that they’ve also never had something take so long to shift. Hope everyone feels a lot better soon x

Same here! It’s reassuring to know because I’m starting to feel what’s wrong with me! Not that I’d want anyone to be so unwell
just seems scary as these illnesss are so bad and I’m semi healthy/young ish - 43 years young but I worry for the elderly and people who live alone who don’t have anyone caring for them or checking in

You’re so right. That must be awful for them and no wonder a lot of hospitals are on their knees at the moment. I’m 34 and consider myself generally healthy. I have a toddler and fortunately a husband who had to carry most of the load for a good few days! I don’t think I could have managed just on my own, so thank you for the reminder of things I need to be grateful for ❤️.

but yes, find some little comfort that we all have the same symptoms and aren’t alone!

teentoddlermum · 15/01/2026 20:24

@MyNavyLemurmy husband has been so great and normally not so good at playing nurse but he really has. I’ve a toddler and a teen and I feel guilty on them both. I’m starting to do more bits around the house and think he’s looking forward to me ‘being back’! He works longs hours and is tired when he gets home and he’s still managed to do the nursery run so I can just sleep on the days she goes to nursery. So very grateful x

When the doctor looked in my ears he said they were full of wax (sorry grim). Went to a clinic to get them sorted this week and the nurse was a former ENT nurse. She recommended something called Neilmed which is a sinus wash thing. I saw it in boots. She said it has the edge over Sterimar. I ordered some Neilmed from Amazon but haven’t tried it yet.

Thank you, I might give it a try.

Spoke too soon. My breathing is bad today but I have been very stressed and was awake all night with stomach cramps.

It got me too. Friday started with a sore throat all day, then yesterday I was completely wiped out by it. Not felt this bad since covid. Head pain is the worst, then really achey neck swollen glands, even my gums hurt. Legs ache, hot then more cold shivers but no high temperature and no runny nose so far. Sore throat & cough. No energy at all, barely left the sofa bed yesterday.
The past 2 nights I tossed & turned all night, managing max 20mins of sleep at once then awake again. I slept downstairs.
This morning since 8am my head pain has improved somewhat so I'm hoping I'm over the worst. Luckily it's the weekend! I'll stay on my sofa bed again today, napping when I can. Don't even feel upto watching tv, just got it on for background noise. Very tired & fed up already, can't get comfortable everything aches.

Edit to add: this is all while taking paracetamol & ibuprofen every 4 hours...

teentoddlermum · 18/01/2026 11:34

Hope everyone is doing ok and dosing up, I’m day 12 and Friday I went to the pharmacy and was given antibiotics for sinusitis but I I also have a chesty cough so may need to return by Tuesday if of not gone to get a different one.. I feel better but still rough if that makes sense, feel absolutely wiped out and just want to sleep. Off work
still until I feel able to function better

MyNavyLemur · 18/01/2026 13:25

Day 20 and feel mostly better. Just a bit of post viral fatigue now I think. Hope everyone is on the mend

I feel soooo tired it’s unreal 😩and day 20 these things are just really lingering aren’t they

SirChenjins · 19/01/2026 09:31

A month in and while I feel better I'm still not 100% - and the tiredness is ridiculous ☹️

DeanElderberry · 19/01/2026 09:38

Into my seventh week. Much better, but still extremely tired and finding that I have to avoid being out on cold wet days. Very annoying.

HashtagShitShop · 19/01/2026 09:40

Touching 6 weeks after first infection the tiredness is still there and the cough is lingering but I'm "better". This has been worse for me personally than any covid infection I caught. The first time I had covid (as a vaccinated shielder) I only lost three weeks to it... This time was a full month and a bit before I felt like I was able to do "normal" things!

HashtagShitShop · 19/01/2026 09:40

Hope everyone is feeling much better very very soon 😘

Bulbsbulbsbulbs · 19/01/2026 10:37

I'm broadly better now. But I've lost 6 weeks to this bloody thing! Got ill 6th December! It feels a bit unfair which I know is a stupid thing to say. Also the wasted money as couldn't use my gym membership.

What gets me is not being able to prevent this. I'm going on holiday soon, a big one for my 60th birthday. What if I'd got this and had to miss that? I'm not sure insurance would pay out. I take vitamins, had my flu jab, eat healthily.

My GP said he thinks I had two viruses at once- a very heavy cold then got Covid on top when I briefly went out when feeling a bit better.

Yourlifeinyourhands · 19/01/2026 12:19

I’m on day 17 and nearly normal now! I still have the lingering cough that gives me a pain in the head every time which is horrible plus is testing my pelvic floor! It’s for sure a lingerer!

TheHillIsMine · 19/01/2026 12:23

I'm sorry there are so many of us. The nurse just rang me for my asthma check and I've got to have blood tests and double the use of my inhaler for four weeks then she'll see if there's more going on. Had no sleep last night due to a neighbour, bad news today, unrelated funeral later on the week and been let down by yet another tradesman so feeling pretty miserable.

Cough has improved a lot these past couple of days but now have godawful sinusitis. The pain is awful, painkillers not making much difference.

I was recommended to buy a sinus rinse by my GP and it’s worked wonders for me so just an idea. I’m sure I got instant relief when I did it yesterday and my ear popped so wondering if one side was blocked completely

JTA1972 · 21/01/2026 13:13

I’ve got sinititus as well, nothing green coming out so not sure if I need antibiotics?, achey shoulders and fatigue along with gastritis I think, 5 and a half weeks in might have picked up something else along the way

ChillWith · 22/01/2026 17:20

I thought I was better for the second time and ended up at the GP as started wheezing and felt that ears were blocked. She's given me antibiotics as could hear specks in my chest. Now have darting pain from my neck up along back of my skull so back to just resting again. Almost a month now...

DBSFstupid · 22/01/2026 20:15

2 lots of antibiotics later I'm back at work. The cough never really went but It's now back big time. What the hell. So fed up.
Best wishes to all x

MyNavyLemur · 25/01/2026 04:50

I’d say I’m 95% better now. I got woken from sleep at 3am with a very sharp stabbing headache which was happening every 10-20 seconds for a few minutes. Has anyone else had this? It was horrible and freaked me out. I’m hoping it’s still just from sinus issues..

TheHillIsMine · 26/01/2026 20:04

Just a little heads up that when you start to feel better I suggest you take it very easily still. It seems this virus likes to rest for a bit then the fucker comes back to get one again 😢

baroqueandblue · 27/01/2026 23:11

I'm on another round of antibiotics. Have had this officially since Boxing Day but reckon it started earlier in December then went underground for a bit. Chest infection over the weekend, hence the antibiotics I started yesterday. The intense tiredness - especially after sleeping! - is horrid, and the general feeling of being stuck with a seemingly endless virus is a bit anxiety provoking at times. Also got mild UTI symptoms in the last few days, which I could do without. Every little thing I have to do to look after myself and keep my life just about running feels like it takes a massive effort.

Did notice that there was still light in the sky at nearly 5.30 this afternoon though, which cheered me up a bit. This virus might go on forever, but at least winter won't!

Sorry to hear so many of you are also still struggling and I hope you feel proper improvement really soon 🙏

Lollipop20 · 30/01/2026 12:14

Had this for 2 weeks now with a week of work, hoping to go back Monday however earache, headache and fatigue still going strong. One thing I’m finding is as soon as I go outside if it’s particularly cold I have the shivers all day and just can’t warm up has anybody still got the shivers a few weeks in?!
