I'm interested in all the symptoms and how long one would be infectious for. TIA.

Had this for 2 weeks now with a week of work, hoping to go back Monday however earache, headache and fatigue still going strong. One thing I’m finding is as soon as I go outside if it’s particularly cold I have the shivers all day and just can’t warm up has anybody still got the shivers a few weeks in?!

Mine started on December 6th and it is only in the last week to ten days that I've started feeling normal again.

Yes, being out in the cold, even more so out in wet cold, is challenging. I also noticed over Christmas that I needed hot meals and drinks, and I'm usually a great salads fan.

I've had very clingy viruses twice before over the last three decades, they eventually clear up, and do it faster if you rest, and don't attempt to exercise while you're infected.

I have it atm, it came totally out of blue a week ago. I feel totally wiped out by it tbh. (68 years old and flu jabbed) . I still have an awful cough and am still yet to go a day without having to go back to bed in the afternoon. Husband (79) hasn't succumbed to it yet thankfully

ChillWith · 01/02/2026 13:50

I think I'm coming out the other side of it now. Two rounds of antibiotics as it landed in my chest and first lot did nothing. It's five weeks today since it started. Chest feels clear but ears still blocked. Haven't felt so rough in years!

Alchemilla55 · 01/02/2026 14:01

I've just come through this virus. I'm flu jabbed, and it wasn't Covid (I tested). I'm in my 60s, I'm asthmatic so the cough was terrible, quite frightening. I stuck to my asthma plan and upped my meds, and didn't need antibiotics.

It seemed like it was going on forever. I finally started feeling better on day 24, and it's now day 30 and I feel more or less back to normal, although my ears still randomly suddenly feel blocked sometimes.

DeanElderberry · 01/02/2026 14:36

It took seven weeks, but I HOPE I'm clear now. It was a nasty dose.

teentoddlermum · 01/02/2026 15:11

Week for coming into for me and I’d say this weekend I’ve slept better and coughing less but still feel so tired
Sinuses still lingering on but carrying on with the rinsing - last day of antibiotics for me ( round 2) hoping I can get back to work this week as I’ve been off for 3 weeks - absolutely floored me

TheHillIsMine · 02/02/2026 07:27

Just walking up the stairs while talking on the phone left me breathless yesterday and I can feel heaviness in my chest now. Lost count of what day I'm on. Going for blood tests today as asthma nurse concerned something else is going on. I had my review and what I said didn't make sense. 🤞

All those who are feeling better, that's great but don't rush to do loads of stuff, this thing comes back.

Ok I’m feeling 90% better now but now have a warm itchy rash on one side of my face (looks like slapped cheek) has anybody had this post the main illness?! I’m 2.5 weeks after the flu symptoms started

AzureDog · 02/02/2026 14:27

FryingPam · 02/02/2026 14:32

I’m down with whatever-the-heck it is since mid December. Some days are better than others, but I can’t shake it. About to see a GP and ask for bloods to be done because I start to worry that something is wrong.

AzureDog · 03/02/2026 14:57

Anyone got pains in shoulder blades or am I just tensing my back up?

I had lots of shoulder pain whilst having this illness and still hasn’t quite gone. I think it is from tensing up/coughing etc!

baroqueandblue · 03/02/2026 20:56

I've had, and still have, horrible heavy, dragging pain in my arms and shoulders from whatever I've had over the last 2 - 3 months. I think I was unwell with something in the autumn that didn't really resolve, then I came down with flu or Covid (who knows really?) on Boxing Day, and after 2 courses of antibiotics I'm still not right: horrid fatigue, indigestion, sinus pain and what feels like the weight of the world on my shoulders and in my arms.

I'm sorry to hear others are still getting and struggling with one virus or other. Hope you all make a full recovery very soon 💐

AzureDog · 04/02/2026 16:53

Wat am at now, sinus eyes are bad can heat up body ache but not coughing up as much horrible flem.(sorry) ow and ear pain back Wen does this end hope use are all getting better 💐

Yes! And the pain in shoulder blades. Also jumping from constipated to diarrhea (tmi)
Dr told me 3 weeks ago it was flu. Since diagnosed with post viral fatigue. I'm literally managing 3-4 hours downstairs before having a nap.

AzureDog · 04/02/2026 17:03

I've been sleeping on and off all day want this to all go away

TheHillIsMine · 04/02/2026 17:10

I've woken up with an awful cold, very sore throat, pain in chest. What joy.

Just out of curiosity how many people on here are testing for covid? I’m on day identical symptoms to what people have on here, found a spare test batting about at home and it came up positive straight away. Prob wouldn’t have bothered testing if I hadn’t have found it. Thought I was getting a bit better yesterday but gone down hill again today and the coughs starting

Elefontaine · 06/02/2026 20:11

Was meant to say I’m on day 5

AzureDog · 07/02/2026 06:40

It's a strange one been up most of the night, went to doctor 3 weeks ago sent for chest x-ray and put me on hrt!?????I'm 64 which I'm not taking it just gets better they never took bloods!!!

DeanElderberry · 07/02/2026 09:23

As far as I can remember I started with aches and pains, exhaustion, horrible gut upset, loss of appetite (most uncharacteristic of me), wheezing and a dry cough.

That lasted three weeks or so and buggered plans for nice Christmas food.

Apart from paracetamol, ibuprofen, and extra fluids the only medication I've taken is colloidal silver water that I started snuffing up my nose a few weeks ago after someone talked about adenoviruses. That coincided with my improvement, but it's quite possible that the only reason I had the energy to do it was because I was getting better.
