What is this virus from hell?

I’m feeling god rough! Body aches, sore throat, back ache from hell, fatigue, dizzy painful head. I need sympathy and reassurance that I’m not alone because I’m a huge wuss. Countless negative Covid tests and I’m still able to shuffle around but want to cry.
had the worst flu over Xmas last year and am so worried I’m going to get that bad again. Started a bit on Saturday, then got hit by a bus yesterday and getting worse!

Joining the club no-one wants to be in - tested positive yesterday after DH tested positive on Monday evening. Chills, shivers, temperature, sinus pain, aches, dizziness, sleeping a lot. This is the first time either of us have had Covid, so we've done quite well to avoid it so far. Thirsty all the time, drinking loads (water) but not peeing much as I think most of it is streaming out of my nose! I was sick this morning, but managed to eat a slice of bread an hour or so ago (had to in order to take medication for something else).

I'm 64, DH is 59, so we're making sure we rest up and look after ourselves.

We had 'proper' flu at Christmas about 10 years ago, and it was far, far worse than this is so far. Honestly thought we were going to die, but were too ill to organise an ambulance etc. so we just got through it. Having said that, this is not fun, and I feel like shit. Going back to bed now, much to the disgust of the dogs.

Thought I would give you all an update I’m on day 17 I think?! And now it’s turned back to how bad it was at the beginning! Went away on Friday, yesterday afternoon hit with the sore throat and body aches and back ache etc …. This is worse than bloody Covid if you ask me. Fed up now 🙄

I came onto the health board just to see if anyone else has this plague and I see they do. I caught it from DS1, who seems to be almost over it, although I did send him back to school a bit too early because his cough sounded a bit fake😬 Now my cough sounds fake too - a dry wee splutter of a thing - but God I feel as though I've been beaten up. It's definitely not Covid. I had Covid a month ago and it was an absolute doddle compared to this beast. My youngest has OCD and won't let anyone but me do stuff for him, so I'm not even getting a proper rest. Honestly, I could weep😭

@Tessisme oh I’m sorry you have this dreaded awful bug too. How far in are you? It’s the devil personified it really is! Hope your kiddies are doing better but sad that you are suffering. Wish I could tell you there is an end date but so far not the case!

Yes I had it over a month ago. It was awful I ended up on penicillin for my throat. It took over a month to start feeling better. The tiredness was overwhelming. I tested negative for covid.

Aw thanks @Gfozzy. I'm only a couple of days in, but it is grim. I usually just keep right on going when I have a cold and cough, but whatever this is has absolutely drained the life out of me. I've been asleep all day - again, not like me at all as I'm a terrible sleeper😆 DS1 is 15 and he's gone out with his friends today, but I always think young people get over thing more quickly. DS2 is 11 and is immunosuppressed, but seems to be coping ok - he says he feels tired and dizzy and he's coughing quite a bit. I'll keep him at home tomorrow. He's doing practice papers for the transfer test (we're in NI) and has missed so many with illness and hospital visits, but in the end his health is more important.

Headache, cough, snot, feeling rough! We had people in work last week coughing and snorting everywhere so it’s hardly surprising.

I’m not sure how much more coughing my pelvic floor can take! 😳

Day 21.

Just getting to the end of my tether with this now! Really experiencing a humour bypass. Cough, lungs hurt when I take a deep breath still, pounding headache that cones and goes, eye pain and taste still comes and goes. It still feels present in my body. I am really struggling day to day because no one can just take 3 weeks out…

Six weeks for me now. If I walk the dog round the block I’m so exhausted that I have to sleep for a couple of hours. At least I can walk now anyway, that’s an improvement.

Thought I was starting to feel normal again and today sore throat, headache and horrible cough is back, checked back through this thread and saw it was like this on 27th Sept 😞.
It needs to go away now.
Have got flu and covid jabs lined up in a couple of weeks (NHS worker) and could do with being back on form for those.

My son was hospitalised with this last week. He has asthma so it affected his oxygen levels. It wasn’t Covid but he felt (and looked) awful. Still has horrendous mucousy cough.

Ds has it, was really ill last week, thought he was getting better, went to Green Party Conference over the weekend & came home feeling crap. He took himself to walk in clinic on Monday as he had no voice, waited hours to be seen& got told it was viral, hasn't been out of bed since.

Has anyone got a mouth full of ulcers? I started with a couple that have joined up so I have them inside both my top & bottom lips, so painful to eat when you add in chapped lips. Then I started with pain in my ribs, agony to breathe or cough, the pain keeps on moving from one side to the other. I rang the doctors on Monday asking for a home visit as I'm housebound, got a call back from a doctor who said he puts the pain down to my Fibromyalgia & just keep on taking painkillers. Really pissed off, if my leg was hanging off they would say just take a couple of paracetamo.

Omg this is me. I've read this thread and wanted to cry as I've been feeling the same. It's getting me really down now. I am 2 weeks in an feel absolutely awful still with everything others are reporting. I'm signed off til next week but I feel horrendous still and am worrying I can't shake it.

I have had bloods. All fine but an abnormal ESR reading which I will speak to my Dr about but I feel bloody dreadful. Literally everything hurts and my the itchy skin is horrible. But I feel like my whole body is being crushed

Yes, mine started with mouth ulcers and then razor blades in the throat.
Cold roasted vegetables rolled around my mouth seemed quite soothing.
I'd be pissed of with your doctor too.

My lymph nodes are taking it in turns to hurt, Monday was my left tit, interesting.
I keep waking up at night to practice breathing.
My resting heart beat has gone from 59 to 75 and doing anything like making a cup of tea makes me puff and pant.
My nose is alternating between running snot and bone dry.

My mum has it now. No respiratory symptoms. Just severe muscular pain and headache and fatigue. The doc said she’s the fifth person he’s seen with those symptoms in the past fortnight. With the first couple of patients they were thinking autoimmune or MS or vitamins etc, but the increasing number of cases suggests it must be viral.

Also been hit with this virus from hell 2 weeks in. Temp is 39.2. 🫣

Thought I would update. I’m on day 50000 ( slight exaggeration) but I’m feeling mostly better. Still getting the odd sore throat/headache and my fatigue is off the scale. Very cold constantly and feeling sick a lot!

Yes me! I was thinking about this yesterday, it is really sore. I started with this last Saturday and worked from home Monday and Tuesday but didn't get much done. Came in Wednesday but gave up and went home at 3, fell asleep on the train home. In yesterday and today but just want to curl up in the duvet. Taking sore throat lozenges and Beechams Max Strength.
