Morning girls, not subtle i know but hey, some of us need this

OP posts:
mieow · 27/11/2004 23:21

will add my message here that I just put on the old thread

Am going to see the nurse on the 21st dec. to get help quitting. I stopped smoking for 2 years! but started again last dec. I am struggling to stop this time, so need help and support. The receptionist at the GPs said that I can get the patches, tablets etc all on prescrition which is great as I don't pay for them anyway!! I have cut down today so hopefully will be on a few by the time the appointment comes round.

charliecat · 28/11/2004 08:44

Hi everyone, nice to be here day 2..good luck mieow and Mink so not to clog up this fresh new thread I have posted about ebay on the other one ok?

charliecat · 28/11/2004 11:15

so so close this morning....its been a long one and it doesnt help that dd4 is screaming very loudly at anything she doesnt like or repeating the same shit over and over again even thought ive said no. OMG Throw me a noose.
Made worse by the fact I know for a fact if i have a fag all it will do it lenghten the process and ill regret it immedietly and maybe I should just accept that this stopping smoking lark IS going to be a struggle and accept that. And appreciate any small peace my brain does get away from the things.
Really want to go outside and scram, this is all mental BTW physocally fine, no rattles or anything.

MamaMaiasaura · 28/11/2004 11:52

Good luck on the giving up, i know it aint easy. My dp told my ds of 4 that i had given up when i had only said i would 'try'. ds was really pleased being all proud of mummy (he is 4) so i couldnt have one. Tried to when he was asleep but just couldnt. had dp giving me guilt trips too. after several tantrums from me and gaining weight by scoffing choc i have made it to nearly 4 months! x

minkmama · 28/11/2004 11:59

wow awen, wish i could feel more guilty about a sneaky fag! my two are too young to realise and that's kind of the way i want it so that sort of spurs me on. at the moment ds1 has watched me smoke and i don't want to reach the stage where any day now he will shout to someone 'mummy!' whilst pointing at a smoker.

so far am clean, just that morning jittery feeling like your arm's missing or something...

keep with it cc, go and scream into a pillow and kick something or just go out and walk and breathe in the v. cold air. the cold will do your lungs some good as they always make them feel fresher don't they?

OP posts:
minkmama · 28/11/2004 12:00

Hello folks, blimey there's been a lot going on here...

Hope your dd is getting better pn, sounds like a hellish week, poor you. cc, sounds like it's been so tough, please please don't fall back into ashtray - YOU CAN DO THIS!!! You too mm - you did whole fag free weeks before, it was getting easier and some days you said there were hardly any cravings.

Anyway it's so good to have you back btw!!!!

lovely to have some new folk on here too...

LET'S ALL CRACK THIS! Gotta go cos dh taking kids to cinema so I can work, bah, would much rather go to glasgow with them.

Am a month off the cigs now, still lozenged up tho! dh 2 weeks off fags - and no patches for 5 days. His mood is lifting, thank christ, so divorce has been averted.......

prefernot · 28/11/2004 13:04

Hello all.

I am fagless.

Well done cc, those kid nightmare moments are the worst for making you want a puff aren't they? I actually find on my 2 days at work even when smoking I'd smoke much less than days at home.

Mm, you didn't say what threw you off the wagon? And did you revert to smoking as much as before? Or maybe you did say that and I missed it on the other thread. Re. potty training I did read GF's book. As always for me with her I found some of the basic advice sound but the ability to fulfill all her perfect criteria impossible. For instance by day 3 dd wasn't having that many accidents but certainly was nowhere near spontaneously taking herself to the potty. Nor is she now almost a week in. I think that'll take a while.

She's been SO ill and really off food and drink too. Last night again I ended up sleeping on the fold-out bed with her as she was so miserable. It's kind of blissful to sleep with her in a way as we've never co-slept. Occasionally when she wakes up, she strokes my arm sleepily and says 'mummy very nice, Eva loves mummy very much' and drifts off again. [sniff]. Other times of course she yells 'mummy get your hand off me!' . Today she's covered in little pink spots on her face which she always gets when she's very run down and pale. We're giving her multi vitamins but she's exhausted. She got up at 8.30 this morning (a miracle, 2 hours later than usual) and was dozing off again at 11. .

charliecat · 28/11/2004 13:07

Mink, send him your details and the name of the dvd...he might send it out. But those 172 feedbacks were gained in 3 months and then he had another 300 items to sell...thats a major amount of money, even at £1 each its £300 but most of his stuff was £6.99 plus...GRRRR so that x 300 items is near on 2 Grand...

fionagib · 28/11/2004 18:02

Poor prefernot, it's so horrible to see them all wilted and run down and shattered. Not much fun for you either. Yeah I always crave fags more when kids are around but also need niccy to keep concentration up when am working... ran out of lozenges today and chemist shut so cut a patch in half & slapped it on. Missing the kids - they're all at cinema in glasgow.

Are you fag free mm??????????????????????

cc I hope you're feeling perkier, was really sorry to hear about your tearful day.

ps we went to party last night & had no urge to smoke (ate BILLIONS tho). Poor dh was v quiet & craving madly.

charliecat · 28/11/2004 19:54

Prefernot our posts crossed, your wasnt there when I posted my waffle about Minks Ebay.
Fiona you are doing soo soo soo good. Is your DH really still craving or is he just lusting after something he cant have?
Today I have found that since sort of midday the craving thoughts have passed and I actually feel as if theres no nicotine in my body, theres not that, whens the next dose ache.
Awen WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your doing better than all of us put together I think !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope your dd gets better soom PN that sounds dreadful and she sounds really poorlyxx

WideWebWitch · 28/11/2004 20:06

Hey, just popping in to say wow, a month, fionagib, the last time I looked you were smoking IIRC! Great stuff. And well done Charliecatthenonsmoker too and anyone else who has stopped. Cc, if you're nearly at day 3 there isn't much nicotine in your body.

charliecat · 28/11/2004 20:47

www I am cctns, only on day 2...ballsed up on week 6

WideWebWitch · 28/11/2004 20:48

but cctns that's good! Remember, the glass is half full blah blah!

charliecat · 28/11/2004 20:50

Thats good, Well I guess, its better than Im on day 2 of smoking with no intention to quit... Thank You BTW you should pop in more tyo encourage us all!

mammya · 28/11/2004 21:03

Ooooh, a brand new shiny thread for us! Lovely!
CC, how are you doing? are you having lozenges or having nothing at all? Anyway you're doing great, I agree with www. Look at it this way: you could very well have thought "oh it" and carried on smoking, but you didn't. That's very, very good.
PN, I hope your dd gets better soon.
As for me I've had a couple of days of being really irritable and shouting at dd for various, petty reasons and thinking "I could do with a fag". I don't know why really, it's nowhere near my period or anything. But anyway I'm pleased to report that I didn't give in!

charliecat · 28/11/2004 21:06

Excellent Mammya!!!
I have had nothing, except a hypnotherapy session and willpower made of steel

mammya · 28/11/2004 21:12

Oh yes, the hypnotherapy! How was that? Do you think it was useful?

charliecat · 28/11/2004 21:15

Er no except for the fact I was determined after spending so much money that I wasnt going to have a fag after...hence all the tears
So lol...no but yes!

prefernot · 28/11/2004 21:19

Ah, cash incentive!

£90 was a lot I have to say. I once had hypnotherapy for something else and it was £20 a session. Seriously though do you think it was good?

prefernot · 28/11/2004 21:23

Good evening everyone by the way. To add insult to injury for poor little dd, we've got the Nike marathon thing running through our park tonight. Our block of flats in right in the middle of the park so there will be 30 000 people running through until 4am tomorrow morning!! There's a massive PA system blasting out some music that sounds like a pointless noisy repetition. So far dd's sleeping through it. If she wasn't ill she wouldn't be sleeping I can tell you!

Potty training dilemmas all day.

When oh when will being a mum feel 'natural'? I mean when or do you ever feel you know what the hell you're doing?

charliecat · 28/11/2004 21:24

Ive got the same thing word for word here on a cd i brought off ebay ...The thing that stopped me having a fag was knowing I had to stop today, that being yesterday, because id just spent 90 quid trying to stop, which meant I was desperate....and there was no way I was gonna have a fag becuase I would only have to stop another day...so why not yesterday when id been so desperate id spent that much money????
It was crap but in a sense its done the trick.

charliecat · 28/11/2004 21:26

OMG PN things arent going well for you!
I think my natural parent moment was covered in shit and spew I still wanted to pick up the little mite...I dont think we are EVER 100% sure we know what were doing

charliecat · 28/11/2004 21:29

Right im off for now Night Night xx
