For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Jättebra Tooticky!!!

Have been hovering about trying in vain to join in, just can't quite manage the 10 portions, 8 seems to be the most I can do. I seem to give in too easily to biscuits instead of satsumas.

TooTicky · 08/01/2008 12:01

Hej hej!
My Swedish is v. limited and crap btw. I lost heart a little when we couldn't afford holidays.
Do join. Hardly any of us manage 10 a day, certainly not every day.
How are you?

Very well thank you, first time onto Mumsnet since Christmas I think!

A big problem is that there isn't such a huge range of fresh fruit and veg here at the moment, and it goes off really quickly, and it's quite expensive to go to the supermarket every day. There are very few independant grocers here, so unless I travel for about 40 kms I'm stuck with supermarket produce.

However I am looking into growing my own, now we have bought a house with a bigger garden it might be possible. Unfortunatley I don't know the first thing about gardening, I will start my research when the kids go back to school.

And then there's the Swedish winters, hmmmmm completely different country to Sweden in the summer.

It's a shame we're staying here all summer otherwise you would have been welcome to use our house whilst we were away. Perhaps next year

FrannyandZooey · 08/01/2008 13:04

ooh hello

thank you TooT that was fab

hellooo MrsMills, I like your name - I have an LP of Mrs Mills which an odd friend bought me and it makes me laugh

we had baby spinach, artichoke hearts, mange tout, cucumber, tomato, hummus and avocado with pitta bread for lunch. Ds has been eating service station / bad pub style food since Saturday, and he fell on the salad with great enthusiasm. This was nice, because this morning he was telling me 'this breakfast is boring. I like the Little Chef breakfast the best'

lionheart · 08/01/2008 13:05

Ride 'em, cowboys.

The title is making me think of cake though. Lemon poppy seed is what I fancy.

Let me just point out that all credit for the title goes to FrayedKnot.
