For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

January is the season for forced rhubarb which is the best kind, pale and pink and delicate. I don't think there is anything morally wrong with forcing rhubarb It is literally forced to grow through straw and gets no light but I don't suppose it minds much, it's not veal, but it is advised to only force a plant every 3 or 4 years so it must stress it a bit.

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 16:53

pink like this

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 16:54

I think I could kill for a slice of that at the moment.

ZippiBabes · 09/01/2008 16:56

I am sorry you have been ill..or ill in another horrible way..LL

I was asking if you had been in at all

is it ok for you to dump your pills?

The weather is miserable as well and the short days are dispiriting

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 17:35

oh yes, sorry LL, that sounds awful. My mother suffers from pleurisy, not nice.

ahundredtimes · 09/01/2008 17:39

So, nah TooT.

MrsC is my Great Rhubarb Defender. I heart MrsC.

Actually that was why I bought it, because it was so very pink, outrageously, embarrassingly pink, like a flamingo.

Poor LL. I am sorry. Is it a good idea to bin ALL the meds though? Perhaps you should get on to Rasputin. He's been working wonders with everyone here.

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2008 17:42

it wasn't really porn you know, there was just a penis and some breasts in it

oh and a minge

I had a scan and it was fine, they are saying July 4th.

Lully what are your pills doing? and what are they meant to be doing? It is very good to see you.

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2008 17:44

I think I have cut down a bit, haven't I? I mea obviously it was embarrassing when I said I was going and then didn't go, but I feel like I am on here a bit less?

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 17:52

I did that too. Everybody, I Am Going. Cue goodbyes, a bit of lurking to see if anyone misses you then then instead of severance, someone comes and bloody says something incorrect and one simply has to pop back and correct them and then you're back and well, may as well stay.

I like the idea of embarrassingly pink rhubarb. Sounds a bit rude.

lionheart · 09/01/2008 17:55

If anyone asks, you've not been seen Franny.

Poor rhubarb. Barbaric.

ZippiBabes · 09/01/2008 17:58

oh i thought i saw franny on another thread

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2008 17:58

no no no I have DEFINTELY Cut Right Down

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 18:00

Oh, and 100x, please can we not call the homeopath Rasputin anymore. I feel Toot was kind enough to loan me a therapist and I seem to have turned him into a joke. I'm sure she doesn't mind but I feel a bit rude about it, sort of defensive in parenthesis iyswim.

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 18:01

though wtf defensive in parenthesis actually means I don't know but it sounds right.

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 18:03

Lionhart - apparently the rhubarb makes an almost screamy noise but it is just squeaking as it forces through the straw or whatever.

God I want some rhubarb pie. MmMM. I am hungery. Again.

ahundredtimes · 09/01/2008 18:09

No it wasn't YOU, was me calling him Rasputin. But I wasn't taking the piss, I quite liked the idea of him as a magic man with violet eyes and healing hands.

Okay.

He shall no longer be known as Rasputin.

[respectful emoticon]

But ONLY because you've been so decent about Rhubarb.

ahundredtimes · 09/01/2008 18:13

Oh no! I was very decent about that. I forgot - I should have had a row with you about what I can and can't say. [sigh]

lionheart · 09/01/2008 18:18

But, I ask you, how does anyone really know that a squeak is not just a strangled scream?

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 18:22

That was indeed very decent, what a decent sort you are, 100x, Darrell would be proud of such a friend. Even if it was only under the lure of rhubarb reinforcement. Barf. Did you get that, reinFORCE?

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2008 18:24

aHA you see you CAN do it when you LIKE the person

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 18:26

The mind boggles at the thought of all the squeak/scream analogies.

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 18:27

Imagine Munch painting The Squeak

lionheart · 09/01/2008 18:28

Rofl.

(And I have honestly never rofled before).

ahundredtimes · 09/01/2008 18:31

I like you VERY much Fra. I like you even more since we rowed weirdly. This is often the case with me. [immature] I fell in love with dh during a row on Charlotte Street as it happens. So beware Franny you might end up marrying me.

Anyway, I'm grumbling a little, but to myself. I am also wondering whether Boco will let me call her wizard - SHE USES THAT TERM - Rasputin? I shall ask when she comes back from her holiday.

I had a friend her over NY who said the most annoying thing about homeopathy is that it works.

MrsCarrot · 09/01/2008 18:38

Oh no, I haven't dredged that up again have I?

We were all joking about wizards because that's what Boco's dp called her homeopath. It was funny, I just felt a bit guilty that Toot's friend might became a permanent joke that's all. I am quite sure that Boco will be thrilled to call her wizard Rasputin. Maybe homeopaths in general could be called RasputinS. That would be good.

Don't grumble though. Eat rhubarb pie and give me some.
