but actually am probably too early to be testing
ho hum

will go out for even just a short run tonoghit

DoubleBluff · 06/07/2007 13:21

Managed to 5.5 miles which was great. Although the wind was blowing against me the whole time!
Had to get out today as Dh is away golfing for the weekend
Are you feeling any better today?

popsycal · 06/07/2007 13:33

bit better
still shattered - but hoping a couple of early, unbroken nights this weekend will do the trick

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/07/2007 14:18

Thanks glitter

I'm 'resting' today. As much as you can with 2 children under 5. DS was exhausting going around Sainsbury's today. I hope to get some decent running shoes Saturday so can start running again !!!

Veggiemummy · 06/07/2007 15:30

hello all rest day today but climbing around three level soft play gym makes it feel otherwise, have yoga tonight also. Back into training over weekend plus watching the tour of france start and first day so busy weekend ahead catching a coffee now aaaahhhhh.

Pops are you getting enough protein, my SIL gets really tired when she is running heaps but not eating enough protein

glitterfairy · 06/07/2007 16:19

OOOh veggiemummy that sounds interesting are you going to see it live? Have just finished Lance Armstrongs second book every second counts. He sounds annoying to have a relationship with but very very inspiring.

Popsy eat well when exercising, thats an order! Especially if you are that tired.

Doublebluff well done fab.

VVV sounds as if a rest day is just what is needed.

Am planning my tea now.

Veggiemummy · 06/07/2007 16:42

we will watch the prologue on saturday the big screen in hyde park as tricky to watch actual race with all the crowds and will go across the river to greenwich watch them go off on stage one, i'm really excited i love the Tour, we saw the final day in Paris a few years ago, it was Lances 5th win, it was such a great thing to watch. As the Tour has so many riders from loads of different countries it is great to see all the spectators from different nations there too, a really nice atmosphere. there is an Aussie, Cadel Evans, who has a real chance of a podium finish, partitially due to all the banned riders due to the drugs scandal but hey who cares.

popsycal · 06/07/2007 18:00

Well
I amnot going for a run. It is totally peeing it down, Dh has take the boys off for the weekend and I have beer and a messy house to deal with!

My eating - I do eat enough protein I think. But I have to be more conscious of my eating. I never diet or restrict what I eat but I probably don;t get enough vitamins and definitely not enough calcium. I eat lots of veggies but rarely fruit (it hurts my tongue). I don't drink milk, rarely eat yoghurts but do have cheese.

It's a case of making sure the kids have balanced packed lunches, breakfasts and dinners but forgetting about myself. Although we normally eat together on an evening (but recently it hasn't been as 'good' food as I normally do....)

Veggiemummy · 06/07/2007 18:14

I know what you mean, i've never been one to 'diet' but i used to be very careful with my diet, making sure i was all balanced and everything, i'm vegetarian, and always was careful to get enough green leafies and stuff with protein and all my omegas, but since having my son my eating habits have been a nightmare.

i never used to have many sweets or desert, or cakes with my coffee, now it seems if i have a coffee i have to have a biscuit and when i finish my dinner i always seem to crave something sweet, and don't even start me on chocolate. as far as eating during the day i tend to eat my DS's lunch leftovers, or at least i pick at them (he doesn't eat very much). The one thing i do try to do is have a good breakfast which lately is a fruit smoothie with a hemp protein powder in it. At least then i know whatever i eat the rest of the day i have started off well and will be set up for whatever training i have.

Veggiemummy · 06/07/2007 18:15

in what way are you going to deal with the beer

popsycal · 06/07/2007 18:16

I am going to drink it
The house can wait until tomorrow
run first thing in the morning

DoubleBluff · 06/07/2007 18:33

Ooh Popsy make the most of the peace and quiet.
I have the opposite problem Dh is away and i am on my own all weekend with DS's. we are about to go out for a walk, first dry day in ages. We are trying to spot the heron at our local lake.
Good training on weekend ladies.
If Dh gets back in time might squezze a quickie in on Sunday ( run that is!)

TheDuchessOfNorks · 06/07/2007 19:58

veggie - the Tour came past my house a few years ago (Ashdown Forest). This year it's going through Tonbridge instead. I shall keep well away, the traffic is a nightmare.

glitterfairy - how can you do all that exercise on so little food? I feel weak and wobbly if I don't eat substantial amounts!

DH had a headache this morning so I had to scrap my planned 5k and dash back from the school run to look after DS1 & DD2. I sneaked in a quick but hilly mile before picking DD1 up from school though.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/07/2007 20:48

Popsy - fruit that has been cooked, or left to soak in water once cut, is less likely to cause a reaction in your mouth than fresh/raw food. If you wanted to eat fruit that is....

DoubleBluff · 06/07/2007 21:28

well done duchess, was thinking glitter has the appetite of a bird.
AM currently keeping a diary for upcoming health check - i am a greedy pig!
No wonder I haven;t lost weight, because I run I think Ican eat whatever I like!

glitterfairy · 06/07/2007 22:52

LOl I am living off years of an aetite to rival a giant! I have stones still to lose and it is hard going. At one point I was eating nearly zero carbs but exercise got harder so increased them. Honestly I am no saint ask Beety!

popsy enjoy the beer.

Veggie sounds great please let us know what it is like. I am fascinated by it these days.

Have just painted my toe nails glittery red and am enjoying my evening off. Tomorrow I run!

Today diet

Fruit juice - pineapple, lime, apple, kiwi, blueberries
Oatcakes and tahini
Salad with falfels and avocado

  • dressing with olive oil and balsamic Chicken and veg with sweet potato

Two glasses wine as weekend!

Run two miles and pilates

Veggiemummy · 07/07/2007 00:09

they seem to have blocked off most of london to keep those smelly cars away (and the ones with bad devices in them) and put in 11,000 extra (but temporary) bike parking places, so we are off tomorrow with DS in tow to cycle into london on car free roads yay. we will have to get in early as i imagine at some stage even bikes will be kicked off ready for the prologue riders to come through.

popsycal · 07/07/2007 07:50

well my childless night i woke 4 times - typical

anywayu - i am going for a run at 9 then back fir a shower vefre teaching my dancing

glitterfairy · 07/07/2007 09:05

Good luck popsy and enjoy! Veggiemum have a wonderful day.

popsycal · 07/07/2007 09:22

well I struggled
but after about 15 minutes it was a bit better
but i only ran for just over 21 minutes. Could have happily kept going but I feel so tired and my legs felt sluggish so I thought it was a good time to stop and walk for 5 mins home.

Off to see how far I ran. I reckon a little over 2 miles

popsycal · 07/07/2007 09:26

well thats a bit of a surprise. I did 2.6 miles in 24:02 (not 21:02 - typo ) and I efelt as though I was taking my time lol!

Shower for me

popsycal · 07/07/2007 10:32

grrrr
and my right leg feels a bit worse - the shin bone....
going to have to take it easy, aren't i....

popsycal · 07/07/2007 10:44

VVVQV - I will try the fruit in water thing. I LOVE fruit but in recent years, I just can't eat much of it! Esp pineapple, kiwis, oranges and bananas....

Veggiemummy · 07/07/2007 10:48

good that you did more than you thought i love when that happens shame about the shin thing again though.

went out for a lovely ride on carfree roads and for a quick look around the tour start area back home nw getting DH and DS ready to cycle in for the festvities
