I run in very secluded areas - the forest, farmland, a wooded bridle path. No houses for miles. But I've always lived in the countryside and it doesn't worry me.

I have also beaten off an attacker in the past - in a town I might add! - so I perhaps feel more confident about dealing with trouble anyway.

Only run throught the woods if you really want to Popsycal, it's not essential. (And you'll spoil those Nike Triax' when it's muddy )

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 08/07/2007 14:36

I don't run alone popsy - well not very often - not because I'm afraid but because I'm crap by myself. I just give up when the going gets tough. Respect to you lone runners. I don't know how you do it.

The towpath is really busy - too busy some days - bikes, loose dogs and runners - not a good mix.

Well I did 30 mins today and 30 yesterday and my groin injury seems ok. I'm hoping get back up to 10k pretty quickly. Fingers crossed.

SEe I am a city girl. DH doesn't understand why I don't take advantage of having a 'mini-countryside' on the doorstep but instead drive alongside busy roads...... But then he is more of a country boy!

Talking of running with someone else - I am the opposite I think. I would just try to outdo the other person and injure myself lol.

Lilliput · 08/07/2007 15:43

At least you won't get attacked by buzzards in the city. I ran down the route I got attacked and it came for me again but I waved my arms around and shouted so it didn't get me this time. I won't be running that way for a while.

popsycal · 08/07/2007 19:23

Lol
Ladies - I think we need a new thread

DoubleBluff · 08/07/2007 20:06

Was thinking the same...

Veggiemummy · 08/07/2007 21:42

Helloooo ladies feeling very shattered after a busy weekend with the tour was all amazing and very happy with 1st stage being won by one of my countrymen. Saw them all start going over the meridian line, DS found it all very exciting too as there was a Fire engine parked near our vantage point and the firemen all waved at him.

didnt do the training i was hoping to do today, a run and a swim as i have a really sore and tight feeling left calf muscle so rested it this afternoon and will go out for a gentle run with DS in the jogger tomorrow afternoon.

well done on 2km up hill Duchess, do you do that route often, i need to run up hills more i think.

we are going to Derby for 3 days next week so will have to find a running route around there.

popsycal · 08/07/2007 22:02

Quick question for those of you who have already done your RFL.

Will there be signs saying how many miles/km?
I realise this is very anal of me but I like to know how far is gone and how far is still to go .

Also, is there any way of looking at the course for your event?

TheDuchessOfNorks · 08/07/2007 22:24

Hi Veg, glad you enjoyed the Tour.

I haven't run the route I did this morning before but as it's from the house and only takes 30 minutes I might make it my Sunday morning run whilst DH does the breakfast.

When I got back, DH had the 3 DCs running laps of the house and was starting them on a handicap so 2yo had a 20 second head start, the 4yo a 10 second head start etc. It was great fun!

I have a really sore throat tonight which might bugger up my plans for the week. Hey-ho!

Saggars good for your groin! Don't push the training though!

popstar · 08/07/2007 22:28

Popsycal, I did the Salisbury RFL last weekend and the kms were signposted, but I know someone who did the Winchester one where they weren't. There was a map of the course you could look at on the morning- don't know why they couldn't have posted it on-line beforehand and then at least I might have been prepared for the final kilometre being mostly uphill!

Apologies for double post! No idea what happened there

VeniVidiVickiQV · 08/07/2007 23:53

Tested out my shoes today

I did the 'usual' route, took usual 20 mins. Shins fine yayayaya!! Although they have had a few days to rest too.

Will go tomorrow evening and see what happens. I'm feeling a bit frustrated right now. I dont feel like i am improving, even though I know its early days and to give it another week or two.

glitterfairy · 09/07/2007 08:24

ok who is going to start the new thread?

Beety will ring you about hols but think it will be hard to meet up.

Am going to do two miles today to get me back in gear in between packing up my house.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/07/2007 08:28
