For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information \link{http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Policyandguidance/Healthandsocialcaretopics/FiveADay/FiveADaygeneralinformation/DH_4001494 \here} (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

Cazee well done from the last thread and sorry you didn't make the gym. I don't think I am going to be able to go the the gym tomorrow as my arm is stiff and swollen from a bodged blood test Oh btw soya milk does count (although it is a bit processed, I am sure fresh veg is better)

lionheart that sounds like my kitchen after I have been cooking beetroot

OP posts:
Cazee · 16/04/2007 21:43

Hope your arm feels better soon.

lionheart · 16/04/2007 21:48

It was shockingly red.

Overrun · 16/04/2007 22:26

Are you having to type one handed Franny?
I now have white cabbage/onion (big portion of so 2), beetroot (1), spring greens and garlic and harricot bean mixture (3)

That's very impressive aviatrix.

I did get splattered and I did indeed think to myself there must be another way.

They are like little jewels.

NappiesGalore · 17/04/2007 00:49

i cycled.
for 5 miles. some of it uphill, some of it over fields and some of it quite fast.
felt a bit sick when i got home. and peripheral vision a bit odd for a bit
but i feel saintly (ish)

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 07:54

Nappies have you been eating?? Feeling sick and dodgy vision sounds worrying

Aviatrix sorry shall I not call you Avi? I don't mind Fra and have been called it before although it does make me feel like an Italian painter. Frank is fine or Francoise or Frances but I am not fond of Fran.

Overrun, erm, no, I seem perfectly able to type strangely enough despite it being all but ready to drop off, of course

I am sorry I didn't answer your post on the other thread properly. I am very sorry to hear the op doesn't seem to have made much difference Really demoralising for you

on rofl at franny being fussy about nicknames. you should come to wales. everything is obsessively shortened, and then the short forms are shortended...and no one is called by their first name ANYWAY...

and soya milk a vegetable? . isn't it a legume? so you can count only ONE portion?

right am needing to go to the gym today but this lack of good music is an issue still. might need to download some

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 08:11

We are eating TEN portions though, so you can count 2 of legumes IMO

My usually trick is to shorten someone's name then add a ridiculous bit on the end so you could be Fillypopsers, if you like

How about RHCP for the gym, they are my latest idea. Am going to try to go tonight, despite extreme arm injury of course

come back, Angie, tell us what rchp is

(not revolutionary communist party in a split-with-dog shock?)

Fillyjonk · 17/04/2007 08:56

(it can't be red hot chilli peppers, no, that would not be right)

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 09:08

yy red hot chilli peppers

very good for bouncy gymness IMO

I rise above your soya milk scepticism

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 12:59

Are you all sulking?

Ok ok I admit soya milk is crap, I will not include it any more

Have just had baked beans with black-eyed beans, 2 satsumas and a pear

Avi if you persist in calling me Angie I may have to call you Trixie you know....

OP posts:
Overrun · 17/04/2007 14:06

Lol at Filly saying come to wales for names being shortened. My dt2 is called a name beginning with O and thats what he is called, just O, not by us I hasten to add. Maybe I could be called O
Franny, don't worry about not really responding I hadn't noticed. Its not really that big a thing about the op, as it was always a long shot that it would make any real difference.
I have had sultanas with my bran flakes this morning (1), mango and apple juice (1), an apple (1), some cucumber with my sandwhich (1) Now eating some grapes (2).
Have hoovered the stairs and done step ups at the same time and worked up a real sweat, so I am counting it.

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 14:28

OK O

OP posts:
TooTicky · 17/04/2007 14:40

I have just ordered 9 types of veg seeds and 6 herbs. Does this count in a longterm kind of way?

Cazee · 17/04/2007 14:43

[confused emoticon] So now Soya milk DOESN'T count? Well, I am not pouring orange juice aver my cereal, no sir, not again...

NappiesGalore · 17/04/2007 15:33

er pressed apple juice over muesli is lovely. fyi like

Fillyjonk · 17/04/2007 17:18

right am off the gym, just as soon as I can be arsed to get up

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 17:20

(pssst Cazee - we will count it, but we just won't mention it to the others, ok?)

I am feeling miserable and I have almost completely lost my voice - AGAIN Have 3 sessions to do tomorrow at my group and I am feeling really demoralised about the whole idea

Gym seems too ambitious. May go for bike ride instead - dp will be home early today.
