For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information \link{http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Policyandguidance/Healthandsocialcaretopics/FiveADay/FiveADaygeneralinformation/DH_4001494 \here} (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

I just fall off a bike, really can't get the hang of them...
I have eaten orange juice, lettuce, spring onions, cucumber, radishes, homous, v big smoothy, onions, kidney beans and tomatoes. AND I have spent 30 minutes in the gym! Now to reach for the crisps... (don't tell anyone, but I may even have half a lager in the BATH)
(Pss, Franny, I had soya milk too, just btw us)

Tatties · 17/04/2007 20:59

I prefer the Style Council actually.

Forgot to say I've had grapes too today.

You know we keep going on about oats? Well what's the deal with them? Do they count? Confused

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 21:04

No oats don't count

we just Strongly Approve of them

they are the epitome of, well, oaty goodness

Cazee I think eating all that, going to the gym and then having a lager in the bath is the essence of the 10 / 10 club

am I right?

OP posts:
Tatties · 17/04/2007 21:11

No I didn't think so.

Lager in the bath sounds lovely

I don't actually hear any whale music but this must be the right place.

I have made it to eight so far: apple (x2), smoothie (x2), cuc, little purple trees, orange juice, grapes.

Have cycled on a real bike and then again on a static one with smart flashing display.

(Also lost an armful of DNA on the corkscrew-tunnelling-slidey thing in the park). Sheer blardy folly.

Whale music would be good.

I've had apple, banana, orange, mango, purple sprouting broccoli, asparagus, tomato, cucumber, can I count potatoes? Probably not. But I made a fantabulous watercress, leek and potato soup. Very yum. And a bread and custard pudding with raisins in and made with soya milk.

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 22:17

oops getting hungry again

Or Keiko?

lionheart · 17/04/2007 22:24

I very much like the BLIB, BLIB, BlIB.

Actually quite soothing.

Tatties · 17/04/2007 22:36

Oh yes, we are into radio 4 too Aviatrix. Since we have cut down to virtually no tv dp likes the radio on quite a bit.

Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 07:30

peachy! come back, need to talk!

you are sooooo kind and I loves ya

ok heres the thing. I am going to stick 2 kids on this thing and peddle up the hill. so I NEED a lightweight women's bike. otherwise I won't actually do it, I'll just talk about it...

I am 5'5 with disproportionately short legs, so I need not to have a bar in the middle, otherwise I am scared of putting 2 kids on the bike, tbh-I can't work out how I would get on.

so my plan is to ebay everything I own .

FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 07:50

Filly you can do it - you tell us you are built like a navvy; here's your chance to prove it

Do you want me to turn the Bike Attracting Crystal back on so that PeachyClair comes back?

FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 07:51

Oh, and BLIB BLIB BLIB

am eating (soya milk) (oats) raisins and 2 apples We have run out of fruit. This is a bit of a shocker if you knew how much fruit we had delivered last Friday.

OP posts:
Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 08:01

lol

no i really can't

its the short legs that are a killer

I have been managing a but obn dp's old bike but my feet don't touch the floor and it causes Issues at traffic lights

I suppose, OTOH, I could just sell tickets to see me perform and raise money this way...

FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 08:02

Yes I like to have my feet firmly on the floor. Mind you I am 5' 10 so not too hard really

sibble · 18/04/2007 08:03

have been lurking and decided to jump in and post. today managed banana, strawberries (live in NZ so different season) blueberries, tomatoes, onions, garlic (does garlic count) sweetcorn, peppers, orange, lettuce........My boys managed heaps more, but they still eat what they're given, I eat on the run . DS1 went riding today so walked for about an hour along side him carrying for most of the time DS2 (age 2), does that count as exercise 'cos I was knackered at the end of it!

Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 08:07

of angie's extra 5 "

Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 08:07

welcome sibble also, where are my manners?

FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 08:10

Oh welcome sibble

Yes that sounds like extreme exercise, you can probably have tomorrow off for that

garlic definitely counts

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 08:11

stop ignoring all my crystals. I am going to keep it up until you stop calling me Angie

OP posts:
Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 08:11

its not working, is it, ange?

FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 08:12

OP posts:
sibble · 18/04/2007 08:13

had to lay off the garlic for a while, enlisted the help of a personnal trainer after new year to whip me into better shape. she recoiled at one 7am session at the stench of garlic from the night before. had to make a bridget jones mental note, not to overdo the garlic the night before training. forgot to mention the chilli pepper today too.....didn't think that would count, you had better double your masks
