For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information \link{http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Policyandguidance/Healthandsocialcaretopics/FiveADay/FiveADaygeneralinformation/DH_4001494 \here} (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 17:25

Sorry Filly, we have about 5

dp uses 3 different ones to get to work

we get them from bootsales and people give them to us and stuff. We have been very lucky, but do find that if you are on the lookout for bikes they kind of come to you

maybe

OP posts:
Tatties · 17/04/2007 17:59

Weird coincidence no. 376: my dp also has 3 bikes he uses to get to work

(But I have none)

Today I've had: kiwi, clementine, apple juice, hummus, dried apricots, banana, dried mango (mmmmm!) and plan to have mushrooms, red pepper and spring onions involved with dinner...

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 19:31

Tatties are we actually both living with the same man, who met us on the same day, then impregnated us both on virtually the same day (although a few years apart) and uses his 3 (or possibly SIX) bikes to continue his sick and twisted double life?

Nah, actually, dp can only just about handle ONE huge lentil weaver. TWO would send him completely bald.

Oh. He is.

OP posts:
Fillyjonk · 17/04/2007 19:36

no i went to the gym

am feeling smug

on crappola side i now have to mind kids so dp can go, such was our agreement

i think i might let him change a nappy or two first though

ps has anyone heard of powerplate? the gym has then, i fear it is newagey

Tatties · 17/04/2007 19:36

LOL

Well dp has been going steadily grey since I met him so I don't think he could handle two either...

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 19:36

I have been out on the bike for 1 hour and have a sore vestibule. Any cyclists who can advise me on the protection of my fanjolele whilst mounted?

Have eaten huge salad with spinach, sorrel, tomatoes, cucumber, beetroot, avocado, eggs, pink fir potatoes and chickpeas. It was bloody lovely.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 19:38

Powerplate? Please tell... We haven't got it, no.

I was wondering how bedtime was going in the Jonk household these days?

OP posts:
Fillyjonk · 17/04/2007 19:41

oh yes, bedtime pretty good chez jonk

ds in own room for whole night

dd does require rescuing at around midnight as she otherwise wakes up, cries, and wakes ds but hey, she's little still.

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 19:42

That sounds very good indeed! Are you pleased? Who's doing bedtime?

And powerplate?

OP posts:
Fillyjonk · 17/04/2007 19:45

sadly powerplate is shite, bllx

well up to now it has been a joint effort, tonight dp buggers off to the gym and I shall do it alone

i may be done some time

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 19:48

Good luck with it

I am going to read about powerplates

Filly if you were looking for a bike

was given one (well a tenner for delivery) three years ago and still in box , never even bothered looking in it- came with the washing amchine.

yours if you want it.

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 19:52

It sounds like it could be a laugh if you are bored with your usual workout

I don't totally get what it does, but I would think the vibration etc might be good for your core muscles? Or is that just me and my appalling balance skills

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 19:53

WAHOO

you see, Filly?

BIKES WILL COME TO YOU

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 20:04

I had better turn it off or we will be swamped with the things
