A spanking new thread for the 10/10 club - week 3

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

OP posts:
Panboy · 21/08/2006 08:26

Hmm..is it significant of your dualism that you wish a 'clean' thread..but then announce it as a "spanking" thread...? Hmmm??

Charleesunnysunsun · 21/08/2006 08:56

Morining

Only just got up sp nothing for me yet, am going shopping today so will be a good girl and avoid the cream cake section and head for the veg.

Overrun · 21/08/2006 09:59

Morning every one, strawberries with my cereal and a banana so far. Feeling better after a good nights sleep, thanks for aksing
having a few computer problems after changing settings while trying to install Real player, saw a setting for nudity, so changed that so I could see Charlies picture. that makes me seem a little pervy, but now need to enter a password for every thing, not very good with computers so don't know what to do

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2006 11:57

Good morning Charlee and Overrun and I am glad you found your way here safely. Ignore Pan's efforts to lower the tone - we will get some sort of muzzle and lead for him I think, and then we can enjoy some refined and genteel chitchat without all this loathsome innuendo

hello, am chomping on nectarines today, they are so yummy. They are perfectly ripe. Have been manically tidying up all their toys and putting them in different boxes according to theme. I reckon this will last for one day at best
Still at least I am trying and I worked up quite a sweat running up and down stairs etc, so might count that as my exercise as I am still shattered from weekend away

Panboy · 21/08/2006 17:56

hi all - duly had the roast veg. left overs from yesterday for lunch, and doing a slightly different one for dinner and then lunch tomorrow..1st day back in work and a bit pissed off at no time to do gym type things..DYING to see the 199.04lbs being reduced.....is Frances busy elsewhere???

Charleesunnysunsun · 21/08/2006 18:44

Evening!

I did vair well shopping! I got:-

Bannanas
Grapes
Apricots
Pears
Orabges
Strawberries
Spinach
Lettuce
Cucumber
Spring Onions
Cherry Tomatoes
Carrotts

How good am i???? (feel free to praise me!)
I'm having smoked haddock with a big garden salad and ehem chips for dinner! yummers

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2006 18:57

Yes Frances has had a very busy day, and I am not convinced I had my 10 portions today, or in fact did anything saintly at all

I will go and attack the fruit bowl forthwith

and note to self - do not attempt to make a cake with all attendant wrist action, the day after your first weights session at the gym

OP posts:
Charleesunnysunsun · 21/08/2006 19:00

eh hem! Franny i do belive my praise may have fallen out of your post.

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2006 19:02

Erm Charlee

I do believe you may have forgotten to eat any of the fruit

OP posts:
Panboy · 21/08/2006 19:14

Yes, I'm with St Frances on this - I have done vair vair vair well in pimping my fridge, but there is more to this thread than just stocking it. You have to actually taste it all as well...

fullmoonfiend · 21/08/2006 19:49

Hello lovely people just got back.

Love the pix Franny - and that may well have been me (Glasto, '98 maaaaan)
But thanks to the fact that I lived in my wellies all weekend, we escaped any mud and had negligible amounts of rain (very obligingly in the wee hours).

ButI do need a serious detox. 4 days of drinking, smoking and eating rubbish (albeit organic, eco-friendly, veggie lentil and bark burgers)
Unless trampagne count as a five a day? It's made of apples. Well...mostly apples. And do 'herbs' count

Anyway, no, I refuse to pander to your steretypical preconceptions about me any further...
Back to business. Today have consumed 2 fresh-made smoothies, a nectarine and some salad. I have had plenty of exercise, thank you, what with ferryng camping gear and festival essentials about a mile uphill to the camping area; trampolining, jigging, reeling and glitter-wrestling.
Tomorrow, back to reality. Muesli instead of tea and fags for brekkie, home-made veg soup for lunch (instead of donuts, and potato wedges lathered in cheese sauce) and some grilled chicken and mass of veg for tea, instead of hash truffles and hot choc with brandy.

Overrun · 21/08/2006 19:51

Finally got the children off to bed, what a long day . I managed a big salad and some raw carrots for tea (with quiche). Also melon for dessert. Will have a apple this eve and I think this brings me up to 10 after my mango fruit juice that I had this afternoon.
Losing track slightly, but feel reasonably on course. Might try and do some more of that exercise dvd this eve, but will probably potter around not doing much and stay on Mumsnet all eve, thats my bet anyway

Overrun · 21/08/2006 19:54

Oh fullmoonfield that sounds like so much fun. I recogonise some of those food stalls. there is a stall that does potatoe wedges covered with various toppings isn't there? It does all the festivals.
I remember coming back from Glastonbury a couple of years ago, and stocking up on a huge pile of fruit and veg to try and purify myself of the experience

fullmoonfiend · 21/08/2006 19:59

Overun!! Yes! Potato Moon!!!!! (Obviously, I only like it cos of thename )
As you said, they seem to be at every festival. Cajun potatoes with spicey cheese suace and salsa. dribble mmmmm

Overrun · 21/08/2006 20:04

I thought there was a moon in the name, but then thought no thats just too neat, so didn't say anything
