For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Oh NOOOOooooo not you too Papillon!! The curse of the grapefruit...they ARE ENORMOUS aern't they??

And put those bikers down!! You don't know where they've been....well actually you do, so more reason to put them down.

Panboy · 26/08/2006 19:50

Yes, great idea re the Birches.

I only know ofthis as a skiing buddy soaks the oats in orange juice and yoghurt over-night.........it looks and tastes like it came out of a buffalo's arse, but it DOES keep you going on the slopes til lunch. Thanks.

NotQuiteCockney · 27/08/2006 01:07

Blackberry clafouti Bit more flour than the form I'm used to?

NotQuiteCockney · 27/08/2006 01:46

Oh, should have said, I had a lot of blueberries today, and four cobs of corn, must be 5 servings at least? I'll probably have some more blueberries, some nectarines and maybe an apple?

Papillon · 27/08/2006 06:19

2 for 1 grapefruit going down, delicious and very effervescent at this time of the morning.

I love Bircher muesli, have just been thinking to eat it again. Good for my milk supply. I love grapes, mango and pineapple in it and don´t soak it in juice then it won´t taste like it bovine material

I am going to bake a very large and hearty quiche later. It has linseed, oats for a base and alot of vege. Really beautiful recipe I discovered and adapted afew years ago. If anyone wants the recipe I, I need to rewrite it cos its all floury and pre computer.

Papillon! 6.19 on a Sunday morn..just can't keep away from the grapefruit??

10 am and have fought successfully with a '2 for1', mixed fruit in mueseli, and an apple. A stir fry with 28 vegatables in it for tea...

is anyone mentioning the excersise bit of the '10', other than NQC?

Papillon · 27/08/2006 10:36

It was after 7.00am in Switzerland Panboy, if thats any excuse!

Panboy · 27/08/2006 10:43

Nice riposte!! From Switzerland to Glossop and everywhere between. The WWW.

Was thinking all - is there some space we could use to post vegatable/fruit-based receipes. Something like a seperate thread along side this? Opinions??

Papillon · 27/08/2006 11:00

Afternoon........ish im having a rost for dinner my favorite!

We have runner beans, carrotts, cabbage and swede and i have had some fruit today.

I did walk round a few boot sales but im not doing to much i think i over did it the last few day's i was in agony last night with Braxton Hicks and back ache so im slowing things down for a while, still eating lots of fruit and veg though.

Hope everyone else is feeling extra shiny and happy today

fullmoonfiend · 27/08/2006 14:23

Hello sparkly people! yesterday we went to a maize maze and walked for a looong time. Followed by trampolining, swingball and football! Managed 10 f and v. Today, have spent 3 hours digging and weeding on the allotment, and dined on home made (and home-grown!) spinach and potato soup followed by fruit. I also have a binbag full of apples to do something with and a bucket of blackberries; 3 lbs of tomatoes, many many onions, a caulie, beans and leeks, which will go with tonight's roast.
Can I have a medal please?

Panboy · 27/08/2006 14:31

Just checking Frances' portion chart.........yes, that's 105 portions in one day!....and.......4 and-a-million calories burned....!!

There is no medal BIG enough to reflect your efforts!

About to attack my b/berry bushes...are they freezeable?..I assume so?

fullmoonfiend · 27/08/2006 14:32

yes, very freezable, esp when cooked.

fullmoonfiend · 27/08/2006 14:33

o god! Don't actually want to lose weight! (I'll disappear..) Best go do some baking then

Panboy · 27/08/2006 14:41

Also, fellow shiny-ees.

With Frances' computer down, someone will need to kick off a new thread for next week tonight- mentioning it now, as it may be one of those tasks that becomes "everybody's responsibility", but then...

fullmoonfiend · 27/08/2006 19:22

Have started a new thread cos Panboy said to!

here

Panboy · 27/08/2006 19:59

fullmoonfiend · 27/08/2006 20:08
