For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Good morning all, I have resorted to getting up at 6.30 am just so I can have 10 mins on MN in privacy

I kept thinking yesterday someone would wander over to see what I was doing and I would be outed as a MNer - ruddy hell what a scary thought

I am not sure if I have had my 10 fruit and veg - probably not - I have hardly had time to sit down let alone eat carrots. However I have done tons of exercise including a Body Conditioning class which was fab and ended with me drenched in sweat, so it must have done something good.

I am still laughing at this:
"After risking my life wrestling tomato's off my rather cute but savage chickens"

this thread has been unexpectedly great

PMSL at that!!

Cute and savage........

Morning all!! Am REALLY going to focus today..if it is green, I will eat it.....going for twelve today, to make up for about 7 yesterday..

After hill walking last night Imade my buddy and I a v. large veg. stir fry, and had feelings of possessiveness over the fibre and vit C of mine that HE was putting into HIS mouth, rather than it going into mine..he is aware of this 'coven' we are in and phsl...

Am going swimming with the boys today, will get some proper swimming in, hopefully. 2 portions for brekkie, but I fear we will be doing junky lunch at the baths so I'll have to go for broke at dinner!

Overrun · 23/08/2006 13:49

Waiting on a supermarket order and my oragnic veg box comes tomorrow. So thats my excuse for a poor day on the fruit and veg front.
I only have oranges and lemons and Kale in, and don't fancy that for lunch.
It is tipping down here, and had an awful time at a soft play today. Twins every where, and then the aparatus had to be evacuated because somebody had evacuated on the top level. Luckily it wasn't any of mine - Whew!

Charleesunnysunsun · 23/08/2006 18:37

Evening! I have had the shock of my life today, apparently my baby is to big and i probably wont beable to give birth to it naturaly.

I haven't eaten alot today at all im having veggie packed curry for dinner and i have had a little bit of fruit. I will have to graze through the fruit bowl for dessert.

Panboy · 23/08/2006 18:39

Charles!!

am sorry to know this.

is it just a shock or is it disappointing/upsetting you??

Not really dissapoited or upset just a bit shocked, apparently im to small to push it out, i suppose i don't mind how it's born as long as it's healthy. it's gonna be a whopper though quite a change from ds who was in premature clothes when he was born.

Papillon · 23/08/2006 18:42

Hi All

Charlee! how big is too big? Is this your first baby? Hope you are feeling ok?

I am having spinach pie tonite, has courgette and tomato in it as well. Had lots of black grapes, banana, plums, mushrooms today.

Quite hard to get to 10 even for someone who eats mostly a vegetarian diet!

oh had a lychee lassi if that counts!

Papillon · 23/08/2006 18:45

answered my questions already Charlee

Good perspective... the most important thing is that your baby is healthy and you too I had a emergency C-Section cos my ds was sideways... no coming out that way! My first birth had been a home birth.

Panboy · 23/08/2006 18:48

Glad to know your feelings on it. My dd was a c-section....her mother was a bit upset at first but the following day with beautiful little one all ofthat was forgotten.

fullmoonfiend · 23/08/2006 18:55

Charlee - sorry to hear your news! When are you due again ?(can't remember, sorry!)

Have done badly today, scraping 5 portions
But have been shopping so tomorrow I will be fulloffruitandvegmoonfiend

FrannyandZooey · 23/08/2006 19:55

Charlee

Sorry to hear your news but FWIW I think a gentle and skilled caesarean is less traumatic for your baby than a difficult, long labour with complications.

I think a planned caesarean can be a positive experience. Have you started a thread about it? I think a lot of women on here have experiences they could share.

I just can't do this 10 fruit and veg thing while my outlaws are here. Boy have I got some tales to tell.

I have burnt off enough nervous energy to exhaust a horse though

Im due November 21st but if they do a c/section it will be at 37 weeks which is about 1st Nov.

Im not planning on starting a thread untill i know for sure, if the growth slows down i might beable to do it it all depends on my next visit which isn't for 4 weeks!

But like i say im not bothered either way, i don;t want to risk a natural birth if bubby's to big as i had a rather nasty rip with ds (tmi sorry!)

On a totally different topic i have just eaten a whole bag of white seedless grapes

Panboy · 23/08/2006 21:17

Where else are such topics discussed with hardly a break in breath???

Hi Charlee, can't post long as a bit tied up tonight, just wanted to say that I have had c sections with all my boys for one reason and another, and it it's not too bad.
One thing I would say, is are they sure about size. I don't want to stir anything up, but they do seem to get it wrong a lot. They told me ds1 would be over seven and a half pounds and he was under six. Another woman I know had a c section on same grounds and he was just a normal seven pounds.
Hope this is helpful rather than more confusing

Right, good morning sinners, I think we need to refocus and recommit ourselves to this.

I want everyone to have eaten at least 10 fruit and veg by the end of the day and to sign in here when you have done it, please.

I am ashamed to admit my 3 year old did better than me yesterday - we went to a restaurant and despite me trying to persuade him he wanted a pizza or some pasta, he just kept saying "No, Mummy, I want a salad - a big, big salad." He got one, and ate it. It only occurred to me afterwards that I should have done the same.
