News of Allen Carr has jolted a few people!! Anyone out there wish to form a "Let smoking Go" club?

Ramble on as much as you need Do anything, anything at all, just dont smoke
I cryed a lot too Mourning my evil friend.

Lottelou · 03/08/2006 18:38

HAve had the odd palpitation, but I know to expect that. Not sure if to go to bed or do bits in the garden - my friend was also my nemesis, so we would drink and smoke and do indulgent things, both knowing we were cruising for a bad bruising, so I stopped it this week - being very fidgety...was even nipping away from daughter to have "crafty fag" in bathroom, or at the back door - really silly - ...having a sort of slick-thing in my throat.......C.C - 1.8 years? Do you put up with smoker's company? And where is rickman??

OP posts:
charliecat · 03/08/2006 18:46

Everyone I know smokes. Oh except dp who stopped just before Xmas
I cant stand the smell, its utterly vile and suffocating. Cannot believe I used to do that...ewww.
No idea where rickman is..hopefully she will log on soon
Do whatever you feel like, and if anything seems too hard, just leave it, wait till it doesnt make your blood pressure rise

Lottelou · 03/08/2006 19:20

You're a star, CC. Not up to ANY challenges atm - let it pass by - am offski from work for 2 weeks as of next week, and will be out and about with little one...do you/did you have cravings, how did/do you deal with it????

OP posts:
charliecat · 03/08/2006 19:32

Oh yes I had cravings..lol...was like a mad woman on heat. But i had tryed and failed so many times I just knew there was no point in going back to the fags coz they didnt make me happy, they made me miserable.
I ate my body weight in chocolate 3 or 4 times over in the first year....in hindsight would fill up with water/yogurts. Not cadburys creme eggs etc..lol
Are your family/friends smokers?

Lottelou · 03/08/2006 19:45

Yes, a bit of a problem...my buddy next door is the 'nemesis guy' - (just had a chat with him about it - he's cool!) - friend who I see every 2 weeks or so smokes, so that will be a bit of a challenge next week end, all my sister's family smoke and we are having a family 'do' at the weekend, my "ex-" smoked as well which really didn't help either of us - my friends at work smoke, (we do self-select, don't we?) - my best friend doesn't so that is ok - all in all a bit of a mixed bag, but enough to provide a real challenge....

OP posts:
Lottelou · 03/08/2006 19:49

Got to say, no cravings yet...alot of uncomfortableness and shortness of breath, not not focussing on weed at all. 16 years of fagging it....thought it would have a bit more fight than this!! Whoa..!!! Steady.....

OP posts:
charliecat · 03/08/2006 19:49

You have to remember that they are envying you for having the strenth and the sense to give it up.
They would all LOVE to be in your shoes. they dont want to be the last one still on a sinking ship

Lottelou · 03/08/2006 19:51

Peoples - interject? could rename this thread!! Didn't mean to be all about moi.....

OP posts:
Lottelou · 03/08/2006 19:54

Yep - had odd feeling I was being ignored at work today after I didn't go out for the first fagging session about 11. Just said "not up to it, fed up with it..." wasn't asked again, which is good..and bad!!

OP posts:
Lottelou · 03/08/2006 19:58

Ended up in past few days on about 30 per day, along with a VERY unhealthy relationship with alcohol....one just cued the other.....left so angry at ex- that fags burned the feelings away, and the booze was, well, just so I could feel sorry for myself, I'm afraid to say.....

OP posts:
Lottelou · 03/08/2006 20:00

CC - wish I could paste all of your entries together and print them off....so much more authentic than a paperback.....

Rickman! Well done you!!! Catch you later - about to bathe...

OP posts:
Lottelou · 03/08/2006 21:43

Sat up in bed with laptop - decided this bining of the fags IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I am doing right now, so the kitchen floor needs cleaning- big deal - I need to get into bed for a much more important reason.....have just eaten the weight of a bull-elephant!! Pasta, 4 weetabix, 3 yoghurts, two slices of cream cheese on toast, and a bounty bar.......but no fags..even the name "fags" is horrible....

OP posts:
charliecat · 03/08/2006 22:49

Wahhheyyy.now you will probably wake up with a fag on yur mind tommorow am.....dont...Distract the thought.
The constantness DOES go away. I promise you it does. You have done great, as you know. Well Done

tiswas · 03/08/2006 22:59

Watching with great interest this thread !! I really want to stop, Really need to stop too. Deffo gonna try in September DH is away 2 months on execise (army) and it'll be a whole lot easier without him around to start with (he smokes) I have too say pathetic though its sound I'm dreading trying, but been smoking now 20 years very scared about the damage I've done.

charliecat · 03/08/2006 23:01

tiswas, buy the allen carr book, read a page a day and by september you will be finishing off

tiswas · 03/08/2006 23:04

I was thinking about it, but there are a few books aren't there, which one would you suggest??

Lottelou · 03/08/2006 23:20

hi tiswas - today I bought the book "The ONly Way TO Stop Smoking Permaently" - not had time to read it yet, as busy lying in bed doing nothing.....

OP posts:
Lottelou · 03/08/2006 23:24

Can feel breath coming easier already - just stood with my friend from next door telling him how much I love everything! See what I mean CC by getting giddy? Too much.

Tiswas. Don't be afraid of the damage you may have done. Don't dwell on it. IT will stop you preventing further damage...
and where IS rickman???

OP posts:
tiswas · 03/08/2006 23:26

Thanks LL, will look out for it - keep us updated with how you're finding it. Not going to try for next 3 weeks - Me & DH had a tough year and he has 4 weeks off - so going to make the most. But am definately going to try in September !

Lottelou · 03/08/2006 23:29

Best wishes tissy.....have every intent to bore everyone (esp. Charliecat!) solid.......

hi rickman. Yes, it is a funny feeling. And brilliant on not putting a fag in your mouth!! You sounded sooo unsure yesterday, yet you did a full day with no fag. What does that say about you??? And, I guess it really doesn't matter what the surgery person says, does it? You know what has happened and what you are doing to put it right?
