We do a great line in chatter thebarnes - our insightful commentary on the world in general is second to none. . .

NedSchneebly · 27/09/2012 10:04

X post again smee! Have got some ideas of word lists and spelling stuff and pen grips and other such teachery nonsense which might be of some interest to you. Hope you're not working too hard?!

smee · 27/09/2012 10:17

He's almost attractive in that pic, Ned. Nah, you can have him. Grin

Teachery nonsense sounds fab. Hurl it my way when you get a minute, but no rush.

topsyturner · 27/09/2012 10:18

Thanks for the pic Ned !

Smee my SIL had her nipple tattooed on after her reconstruction .
She seems quite pleased with it ... Grin

smee · 27/09/2012 10:24

Interesting Topsy.. my surgeon said best results are from new nipple being fashioned from your own skin (yuk!), then tattooing on top of that. Not at all sure how I feel about it tbh.

Gigondas · 27/09/2012 10:26

smee that is far too tasteful a pic for this thread pic

Waves at thebarnes - I stand corrected about mets pains (but maybe where I have them different) - have you tried co codamol as when I had bad pain it worked better than paracetamol alone and I have been able to take it with omeprazole (another fan here).

ned that outing sounds messy to say the least- good luck with appt. am sure it will be fine although I still like a hand to hold at appt (this is as much paranoia on my part).

Better go as done nothing this morning as got distracted trying to teach mini gig to impersonate a tiger .

Gigondas · 27/09/2012 10:27

And Grin at fake nipples- not sure I would be bothered at idea of reconstruction from
Other bits.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/09/2012 10:37

urk @ thought of reconstruction from other bits ! the stick on ones made me laugh !
thebarnes thanks for that- paracetamol might be better- it's ok today, but I haven't done much yet ! I am thinking that my original pain (which alerted gp) was due to the mets as it was totally unlike anything I'd felt before- really awful actually- this is more a dull ache across the back of my ribs- will wait and see.
Bit of cleaning here, then some work - ds has INSET day tomorrow so we'll take cat to vet for her annual vaccination.

Thebarnes · 27/09/2012 10:40

Mmm Lovely...keep em coming ned!

Pond dipping is great fun my ds is always asking if I can be a dinner lady at his school Hmm

Thebarnes · 27/09/2012 10:48

Thanks gig will give cocodamol a try next time as they are upping the omeprazole for me to conquer dodgy stomach. Seeing onc tomorrow so will ask him about met aches and pains and report back.

MAS I hope you feel better today.

Sometimesiwonder · 27/09/2012 11:02

Arf! Thebarnes - my dd always used to want me to be a school dinner lady too. Didn't seem to matter that I have a job already - she seems to think that as i work from home it isn't real work and I can stop anytime she has anything more 'interesting' Hmm to say to me.

Hope you are feeling better, MAS. Pain of any kind is v demoralising and tiring.

I need to work, I need to work, I need to work

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/09/2012 11:10

hope you are feeling better today kk
Righto, must get cracking- hope work isn't too bad sometimes !

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 27/09/2012 11:15

Not so bad that I can't procrastinate!

How are you feeling? Hope your work projects are fun and absorbing. Mine is OK, it's interesting, but tricky. Can't get a sensible flow going......

I have to go and get my new tamoxifen prescription - can't believe how often that comes around. Sigh.

NedSchneebly · 27/09/2012 12:31

That's reminded me to order my repeat prescription too sometimes. Do you only get a month at a time? Seems daft to me. . . Hope the creative juices are flowing for you.

Take it easy MAS don't work too hard!

NedSchneebly · 27/09/2012 12:36

Bollocks, how did I post twice?!

Pond dipping was fun - mixture of Y1/Y2 and all quite obliging apart from 2 that I wanted to dump in the pond and the sun shone for us! DS not too clingy, which was a relief. Had tears at bedtime about how he finds writing too hard and his teacher is really scary wants to go back to reception. . . spoke to teacher this morning and it turns out he was being a lazy toad and she told him to get on with it! Never count on getting the full story from a five year old!

Hungry now. . . Onion bagel with cream cheese, anyone?

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/09/2012 12:40

am having a bagel with marmite !
Grin @ ds ned
Am painting a card then might have a stroll as it's not raining.

Pond dipping sounds fab, as does your ds Grin

Ned - I used to get a month's worth at a time but I complained and now I get 58 days worth, rather randomly Confused They actually have to cut bits off strips of tablets to get the number just right Hmm

But it seems to come round much quicker than that.....

graciesmall09 · 27/09/2012 13:51

Loving the photos ned and no orange geriatrics in sight. Grin at little Ned.

Hope your pains are a little easier today mas.

Yes topsy rads start Monday, have my Simple soap at the ready and my lovely NHS cape thing is sitting so that I don't forget it.

Decorating going well here, hall, stairs and landing finished and new floor down just waiting for my carpet to come tomorrow and DDs room is being painted today. Hall finished yesterday, DS2 comes home from school and proceeds to bash wall with his rugby bag Angry. DH nearly blew a fuse.

Oh not allowed my flu and pneumonia jab for another couple of weeks as chemo nurse said last 2 chemos I was neutropenic so better to wait. GP nurse said she is going to check but they may give DH and 3 children flu jab too just to be on the safe side.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/09/2012 16:07

cape thing ? that is luxury- I won't bore everyone with my scrap of blue paper which was supplied to cover myself with...
One of my adorable friends has sent me the most huge box of sweeties - pic on my fb page - am overwhelmed at how nice and lovely people are.

NedSchneebly · 27/09/2012 16:34

Great sweets MAS - they look yummy! How's the pain this afternoon? Hope you managed to get out for a stroll OK.

gracie glad you appreciate my exquisite taste in men. No orange for this girl! Glad to hear you're all ready for rads - you've got some aqueous cream for moisturising, right? Just look on it as the next step in the journey and one step closer to the end. Decorating sounds like its going well - my DH would have reacted the same as yours!

gig that Tom pic is WRONG, you hear me, WRONG! He looks like he's got a hole in his side, underneath his left elbow. . .

sometimes 58 pills? Confused How bizarre!

DS has his best mate to play this afternoon, so they are entertaining each other while I Mumsnet supervise. The floor is littered with playmobil knights, playmobil police/ helicopter rescue, power rangers and various Batmans (Batmen?). Will attempt to crowbar them away to feed them some pizza in a bit. They are very similar, so get on extremely well. Its very cute to listen to their conversations Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/09/2012 17:47

took 2 paracetamols and that sorted headache ! chest ok,much the same but had nice stroll and bought huge book of short stories by Elizabeth Taylor with birthday book token (had my eye on it for a while)
Little boys playing sounds lovely Smile

Evening all - I've been out all day, - yoga, then went to a friends house for lunch, dog walking and blackberry picking - so a lovely day. I'm feeling quite a lot better - much less pain, but still a few urgent loo dashes Blush

I planned to buy ingredients for cake making (for the MacMillan Coffee morning), but when I got to the till in the co-op (at ten a.m.)I realised I'd left my purse at home - with no means of getting any money until DH picked me up at 5.30! - hopeless - I must have looked a right loon, I also had your book ready to post Smee - but had no money for the stamp! - so I'll send it tomorrow.

If you really want to know how weird I am, - the reason my purse was not in my handbag, was because a couple of days ago I was walking through a park and saw some lovely fallen leaves, which I thought would be nice to draw. So I filled my handbag with them (as you do Grin) then remembered I had to go to the bank, so took my purse out of my bag because I felt I would look like that woman in the constipation advert with a handbag full of leaves and twigs Grin

Seriously - DD thinks I am losing it completely Grin - she looks at me with pity when I tell her my disasters.

Anyway - good luck for onc. appointment tomorrow.
Gig - I am baking the coffee and walnut cake as I write this - it smells lovely.
MAS - hope you are feeling a bit better today.

Waving wildly to everyone else - I think I need a lie down with all these orange men on offer.

sandripples · 27/09/2012 20:03

Hello, I'm popping in because I have a long w/e now and so feel less exhausted than usual. Its taken me 2 weeks to recover from the overwhelming volume of work that greeted me after my 10 days off recently. Now I've got a long w/e to take DS down to Imperial to start uni life on Saturday. It feels quite impressive to have a DS living in Kensington!!! Can't believe it. He does have to share a room in halls though... bit of a disappointment. Also the separation from his rather lovely girlfriend (who is far away now) is proving difficult...o dear, new worries.

Anyway KK I loved your story about handbag and leaves - that could have been me! Well done for collecting those leaves- shows a joyous experience of life!

I had my 6 monthly check up yesterday - all was fine and I didn't ask about why I feel sop tired as I know its just a combination of being 57 and being on Arimidex for 2 years now. Onc is wonderful and I love him. He asked me to go and cheer him up next year as well. (long time to wait...)

MAS - I wonder how these first few days of new treatment are going for you - sorry to see you have aches and I hope they go away soon.

Sorry I haven't read all the thread recently but love the Benedict pic!

Cat bitin g me as wants food so bye for now, and best wishes to everyone.

xx
