smee · 25/10/2012 12:58

Yeay for MAS. Very good news. xx

JustFabulous · 25/10/2012 13:43

Hello to everyone Smile.

Hope you early risers are not flagging now.

I have come home to a letter from the breast doctor. Apparently I am knoen to have benign breast disease. Not known to me Shock.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/10/2012 13:48

thanks sometimes !
fab I think that means that you have a history of breast problems which aren't malignant - does that sound right ?

OP posts:
JustFabulous · 25/10/2012 14:01

Could be. I'm just waiting for my mammogram appontment now.

jchocchip · 25/10/2012 15:05

benign is good :)

38 years!
I should be am working but taking 5 minutes, cos I'm on my own with the cat and he's not much help.

Where's Topsy? hope she hasn't got stuck in the wrong suitcase and ended up somewhere random.

Time for a quick Brew, methinks.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/10/2012 15:25

yes, benign is good -take heart from that fab
Am off for some fresh air via Waitrose as I need fruit and ds has requested food then I'll drive to the community hospital and get my medicine.
71 out of 300 drawings done so far.

Sometimesiwonder · 25/10/2012 15:46

71 is pretty good!

graciesmall09 · 25/10/2012 16:24

justfab benign is very good. Hope your mammogram appointment comes through quickly.

71 drawings if great mas. Hope your prescription does the trick and eases the pain.

Topsy where have you disappeared to? I don't like to text you in case you think I am stalking but I hope you are ok.

Just back from DD's parent/teacher meeting which went very well. I am so proud of my girl as she has had a tough year (hope that doesn't sound too boastful but she has struggled with my treatment).

Only 6 more rads to go. Skin is nicely tanned but mega itchy and sore especially under my bust. Nurse asked me today was I still wearing my bra which made me laugh. I am a 38GG so not wearing a bra isn't really an option. DH very helpfully said 'well at least your knees would be warm'.[hhmm]

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/10/2012 16:24

do you think ? hope I can keep it up !

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/10/2012 16:25

And very well done to dd Smile

graciesmall09 · 25/10/2012 16:25

I think 71 is great and from what I can see on FB they look fab. Are your hands hindering your drawing?

OneWaySystemBlues · 25/10/2012 16:39

I posted last week about having a mammogram recall - increased risk of breast cancer due to radiation treatment for hodgkin's lymphoma 20 years ago. Thought I'd update. Went back to clinic today and I won't get the results for another week. It's been a very difficult week this week and I'm not looking forward to another week of waiting. They did more mammograms and a ultrasound on my right breast. They'd seen an ambiguous bit on the mammogram I had in September that could just be dense due to getting older (44), or worth investigating. Nothing had changed much, I think that's what the radiologist said, though the doc at the end said that what was there last time wasn't this time, but that there was an area that they wanted to look at, which was why I had a core biopsy. What they'd seen was tiny and they weren't really sure if it was anything, hence the biopsy. I'd really hoped they'd be able to tell me today - if they hadn't needed to do the core biopsy I guess they would have - but they couldn't. Another week of waiting....

jchocchip · 25/10/2012 16:49

[hgrin] at warm knees!

mas 71/300 sounds like good going to me. Waitrose is good too.

one way waiting is horrible so pull up a chair and have a Wine and some chocolate, essential for stress.

JustFabulous · 25/10/2012 17:05

Hurray for 71 drawings!

OneWay - I know the waiting is hard but try and make the time go quicker by planning time and treats for yourself.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/10/2012 18:27

oneway the waiting is so hard I know- stick with us and we'll see you through it. I think they like to be very thorough.

KurriKurri · 25/10/2012 20:22

Evening all, I go out for the day and come back to find Sometimes has forced her way into Gig's luggage, leaving no room for me, I will have to play the pointy elbows and tuneless humming card to shift her ! Grin

OneWay - waiting is so hard, - I'm sorry you are still having to do some more, but at least they are being thorough. A week feels like a long time when you are waiting though.

MAS - good that they are stopping the tablets, you can;t have your hands hurting all the time - are they going to put you on something different?
And well done on all your work - 71 drawings is good going!

Ned - well done to little Ned, he is such a star Smile - and yes go for the solo, you have as much right to as anyone else. I bet the people in the choir are fed up of that women always doing it and would welcome someone else having a go.
Oooooh you have fancy chocolates - don't mind if I do thanks very much Grin

gracie arf@ warm knees - cheeky bugger!
And well done to your DD, I know you've said before she has struggled with you being ill, bless her, - so good for her, for doing so well.

I had coffee with a new friend today at her house ( which is a lovely converted barn, with a huge duck pond in the garden with moorhens on it) she has an enormous 19yr old ginger cat, - he was lovely, - and he scrabbled about in her shopping bag, and eventually sat in it looking very pleased with himself- made me laugh!

Then I went to lunch with another friend I normally meet for lunch on thursday and we bumped into 3 other people we know, so all had lunch together - and it turned into a very long session of chat and catching up. But very nice.

We are all planning a holiday together next year - in the Lakes or somewhere scenic, - renting a house and doing artwork and going to tearooms and pubs together - don't know if it will come off, but it sounds fun.

love to all and waving to anyone I've missed x

smee · 25/10/2012 20:59

Fab, benign is a fantastic word. Smile

MAS, 71's astonishing. Did you get the new medicine? What does it do? Counteract the reaction or something?

Skips round for Gracie. 6 more's so v.close. The itching's irksome. Remember it well. Hooray for your lovely girl. This time next year, you'll look back at it all as a not v.lovely memory am sure. Smile

Oneway, another week must feel like torture. Come sit and let us distract you. Poor you though. Was the biopsy okay or are you bruised from it?

Hark at Kurri and her extensive social life. Furtherest I've been today is the school run, then to take three kids to Judo. Hmm

Waving to all. And yes, where are you Topsy? Should we be worried?? Hope not xx

OneWaySystemBlues · 25/10/2012 21:28

The extra week does feel a bit much Smee. But I thought it might take some extra time, though I'd hoped to get it all over with today. The biopsy was OK - the people that did it were great and, as a dentist-phobe, I can honestly say I'd rather have that core biopsy that go to the dentist! It didn't hurt and it was over quickly. Bit sore now, but not too much. I guess I might bruise, but that's not too bad.

I have had pizza, chocolate and copious amounts of tea since I got back - couldn't each much before that, but making up for it now. Thanks for listening!

invicta · 25/10/2012 21:43

Gracie - you descriptiion of boobs sounds like me. - ie tanned and itchy. I have enjoyed going bra- less at weekend. That goodness it's autumn and I can wear a baggy jumper! I spoketo bc nurse and she mentioned getting some gel pad things prescribed which may help.

One way - waiting is horrible. Keep yourself busy. Maye a dose of Bond will cheer you up. My dh and ds are planning a boys afternoon at the cinema to watch it.

What are the 71 drawings for? I seemed to have missed something.

smee · 25/10/2012 22:33

Watch out for bruising tomorrow, Oneway. I seem to remember feeling battered in every sense, but I think that was largely the stress of the whole thing.

Waves to Invicta. Go treat yourself to some lovely soft vests. Definitely the way to go. Cosy too. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/10/2012 23:38

You've had a jolly sociable day KK - and holiday plans sound good !
Hope all is ok with topsy.
The 71 drawings ( a few more done this pm) are part of the 300 I am doing for a bookGrin
Went to pick up my tablets from community hosp but had to wait until they arrived from the main hospital. They're vitamin B6 - the main thing though is stopping the chemo. I think I'll have to carry on but at a lower dose. Hands and feet feel worse if anything plus my gums feel tender - miserable isn't it ?
Might be taking my dad to hospital if we can manage to persuade mum to come (otherwise I will need to stay here in case she needs help/ assistance - his appt is early plus rush hour traffic - poor thing has some basal cell things on his face which need seeing.) will try to lure her there with the promise of the Costa & cake ( she finds early starts v difficult)

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 25/10/2012 23:54

Sorry to here your dad has problems MAS - is he having the basal cell thing removed tomorrow? or is it a decide what to do appointment?

You probably know this already, but have you tried using a child's toothbrush and children's toothpaste so it is more gentle on your gums, and using non- alcohol mouthwash (most of them have alcohol in - but there are a couple that don't IIRC) - has the hospital given you mouthwash too? Sore mouth is miserable - it was one of the thins I hated most - because you are always aware of it I think, so if you can prevent it getting too bad that's a good thing.

I think you might find a slightly lower dose makes all the difference, and hopefully some of the s/e's will calm down a bit and you'll be more comfortable.

I did have a good time today, - thursday is my day when I catch up with my friends, and I really look forward to it, even though all we really do is natter and drink coffee Grin
