Here we go !

OP posts:
Gigondas · 30/07/2012 13:53

Omg GrinGrinGrinGrin and crying here for you topsy - that is bloody fantastic (although bet you had heart failure when saw all consultants). That is such good news .

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 13:54

And welcome laetissimus- I know it seems daunting but we are friendly and happy to support x

smee · 30/07/2012 13:58

What's happening, Gig? Are you any nearer to getting home?

KurriotsOfFire · 30/07/2012 14:04

hello to Laetissimus (and don't be nervous - you are very very welcome here Smile) - so sorry you are going through all this, - it is tough waiting for results, and your emotions are bound to be all over the place, - but stick with us and hopefully we can support you, its good that they are being thorough, but hard for you as well .

Sometimes - I hope DD has a great time at the theatre school, - thats how my DS got into his acting, and eventually went on to teach classes - I think they are brilliant for kids, so good for their confidence, - I bet she'll really enjoy herself Smile

Sweetest, glad that your eye is a little better today, and I hope your blod results are OK (I had thyroid problems after my cancer treatment, which made me pretty up and down for quite a while - but they seem to be under control now - I'm on thyroxine) I hope yours isn't thyroid, but just trying to say (rather cack handedly) that if it is, it can be sorted reasonably simply.

Mmm sticky gingerbread Grin

Figgy _ I got an Anita bra a while ago - they are great, really comfy (can't remember what style mine was - possibly one they no longer do, it was 2 or 3 years ago I got it) - I've had some from Nicola Jane which aren't too bad,(I got my swimsuit from them too) and I got a nice front fastening one from Contura Belle - which I like because I find the back fastening ones a bit awkward since my surgery.

Waving to everyone, - Smee do you still have a house full of guests?
Gig - definitely stay in PJ's - any idea when they might release you?
Jane - the scan news sounds good, - how are you feeling now - sending you a Just in case you could do with one today xx

MAS - have fun on the beach. And thank you for your very kind offer for the raffle - a picture would be incredibly generous and a fabulous prize.
I haven't quite decided what I'm doing, DH is going to see if they are doing anything at his work, we might try and do it there (more people) although I think it would be nice in our garden. I thought I'd better check that the primary school aren't doing anything - because if they are, no one will come to mine on the same day.

LimeJellyforBrains · 30/07/2012 14:26

TOPSY Grin Grin Grin Am astounded and over the moon for you!! Fabulous fantastic news! Wayhay!

topsyturner · 30/07/2012 14:52

To coin a phrase "it hasn't gone away"
But the lung nodules have shrunk to such tiny amounts that it is not worth continuing with treatment .

It may come back .
It may not .

I am a very very lucky woman .
Going to be 3 monthly cts from now on to check for grow / spread .

It's apparently named after an 18c scientist called Coley , who injected live bacteria into tumour areas and recorded spontaneous remission .

That's me !
My mega chest infection (that they are now saying was pneumonia) caused my bodies natural anti bodies to go into overdrive and attack the tumours .

So the remission started before I even had any chemo or herceptin !

All the nurses kept coming up to me and asking "are you the one ?"

Champagne is chilling .
Big hugs to everyone !

KurriotsOfFire · 30/07/2012 15:07

That is brilliant topsy - it's all I can think of and I've got a big grin on my face - so I imagine your face must be aching with smiles! - I'm so so pleased for you, DH sends his love too (I shouted your news at him in high excitement Grin)

KurriotsOfFire · 30/07/2012 15:07

Oh and good to know you are now famous - you will be signing autographs I assume? Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 30/07/2012 15:10

graciesmall09 · 30/07/2012 15:31

Oh Topsy I am so very delighted for you. I am nearly crying. That really is the most fabulous news. You will have an even better holiday now at your favourite place.

jchoc glad you ultrasound went well. Your result sounds good.

Hello to Laetissmus waiting is just awful but it is good that your consultant is being thorough. I would have been admitted to the funny farm but for the girls on here. They definitely cheer me up.

Glad you are having a good time mas.

Yeah for last rads ned

Felt like I was in the Twilight Zone last night as I ferried 3 teenagers to their adventure week. I tried to zone out as the chat was all Xbox, Minecraft, Halo. Topsy you would have loved it Grin.

Sometimesiwonder · 30/07/2012 15:31

Oh wow, more good news!!!! The last rads is a big cause for celebration!

graciesmall09 · 30/07/2012 15:41

gigs any sign of you being released? It is good that they picked up on the infection before it took hold. Hope your tummy upset settles quickly.

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 15:49

Depends on when fever abates. They think it may be my line causing it (sound familiar gracie). Doing more test to work out what it is.

Oh and only moderately good news but my scan on Friday looked "quite a lot better".

topsyturner · 30/07/2012 15:56

Gig you need to copy me and get a nice big infection to help fight this bastard !
And good news on the scan Smile

Gracie thank you . Yes holiday is going to be fabber !
All I hear is Halo , Minecraft , Portal ...
Sigh .

smee · 30/07/2012 15:57

OOH, EXCELLENT, both for Ned and her last Rads and for your scan, Gig. I'd say 'quite a lot better' is a result. Shows the Chemo's doing it's thing. Smile

Ned, what are you doing to celebrate? Or are you just horizontal and a bit overwhelmed to have crossed the finishing line?

Sweetest, glad to hear the eye's a bit better and that blood tests sound okay. Smile

Gracie how are you doing?? Hope not too bad.

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 16:21

Maybe this is start but perhaps you are right topsy Grin
Shouldn't you be pissed now? Also who am I going to go to nam with now- eyes gracie meaningfully whilst whistling "I am going to be your drill instructor ".

Pity they couldn't have seen this before you went slaphead tho.

ned you might feel bit worse after rads before you feel better but it does pass.

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 16:22

How is ds going to cope Without x box topsy

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 16:33

Diving then men's gymnastics ...

graciesmall09 · 30/07/2012 16:36

Reporting for duty gigs. I will be a poor replacement for Topsy as I'm larger and not so good at hiding in bushes. I do have a good nam haircut though. Is your chemo going ahead this week gigs?

smee still feeling a bit off. I definitely haven't recovered as well this round so don't feel back to normal before being hit with my next lot which is Wednesday.

sweetest glad you eye feels a bit better.

Not sure if I said before but I volunteered to help at a children's club next week. I thought I would be helping in the kitchen but they have put me in the creche. Really don't want to let them down but wonder am I wise. DH thinks I will be putting myself at risk but I feel I'm giving in if I say no.

Baskets45 · 30/07/2012 16:36

Rushing in from lurkdom to say how very pleased I am at Topsy's news. Absolutely brilliiant!! I can't begin to imagine how happy you must be, Topsy.

A big bag of Revels, well the remains (sorry!) on trolley. Do watch your fillings though, ladies. I know Topsy's news deserves something much more exciting.I'll see what i can do.

Hello to everyone else too. I read all your news. Gig, are u still incarcerated? Hope it's not too grim. Ned, very impressed at your fishing trip and catches, and last of rads tomorrow, or was that today? Did you wear gaiters then? We have to be told!

Best wishes to newcomers. Sweetest, i read your article in Prima today. Very interesting. A friend had facial palsy, due to virus not surgery though, and it has improved gradually over the last decade. So, Sweetest, what bit of Glesca are you from? I grew up in R'glen. I am married to an Englishman too, though we are still in Scotland.

Bye for now, all. I feel we should all celebrate Topsy's news with the strong stuff, but DH and I getting away this week (23 years of marital bliss on 1st aug) so feel i should keep my 'tippling allowance ' in reserve. So tonight it will ahve to be a virtual Wine for me.

OneInEight · 30/07/2012 16:36

Seems to be a day of great results. Wow, Topsy spontaneous remission - that is amazing and Gigs going in the right direction too - makes the hardship of the chemo and the separation from the little Gigs more manageable. Ned - well done for finishing rads. My last day too and I have to say although I found it a lot easier than the chemo I am relieved it is over and no more hospital waiting rooms and trashy magazines for a while. Still got some more herceptin but luckily I don't seem to have side effects with that. Celebrated finishing rads by booking holiday to Lake District last week of August so hope its good weather by then. You can tell I have a week off work this week by the fact its raining again so my weeds and meadow will be growing ever taller. May be forced to tackle cleaning house instead - but will probably find an excuse to avoid it a bit longer.

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 16:39

I would say no to crèche- I don't do stuff with mini or big gig that involves too many kids for that reason so soft play, swimming and any where too kid filled out of action which is not always a bad thing.

Have you spoken to them about chemo? It seems to be my fever that is issue so will possibly start end of this week (idea is to get this under control and leave it a day or so to recover). Tbh I am glad as feel
More drained with this than with chemo.

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 16:40

Waves at baskets and holiday sounds ace oneineight

graciesmall09 · 30/07/2012 16:58

Holiday is probably just what you need oneineight. Really is the day for good news.

sorry gigs meant to say your scan results sound good. Just think you have only had two chemo and already an improvement so definitely sounds good.

They will decide tomorrow whether I get my chemo or not. I know I am being silly about the creche but I will just feel so bad letting them down.

Waves to basket enjoy your trip away and the Wine
